The first part is the foundation of the lead's relationship and introduces the other characters before it goes…
Even though I didn't get certain scenes I hoped would be included, this is still a drama I would rewatch and I am still watching the edits I see pop up on IG. If you look at it from the plot and theme angle and you consider the connection between the characters combined with acting and production, it is more than worth the while. I have my disappointments but I still loved it. The protagonist ML and the antagonist sml both went through childhood traumas and losses. Yet the ML works for the good of all, and the SML let hate take over until one woman opened up a part of his heart that contradicted all that he had become. His ending is not a surprise considering redemption was too far reached and yet I felt some pity. There are scenes I found interesting and not just sizzling hot. For example, the bathtub scene could be symbolic of Yin and Yang and it is the FL who wears black while the ML wears white. I don't know if this was the director's intention, but it is what came to mind when I watched all the twirling of black and white. I could go on. While I watched POJ and enjoyed the humor for entertainment, there is a deeper level that I also enjoy and many other aspects. At the same time, I feel disappointment the ending was as I would have wanted it to be but I also try to appreciate the director's pov.
Yeah.. We keep hearing about his greatness but we don’t really get to witness it.. That was honestly disappointing..…
I enjoyed watching TXW so much and also the little actress who played Chang Ning. But the separation was too long because I started feeling disconnected with the romance. However, like many, I loved their scenes together when they did meet. I replayed the marquis galloping in at the end of ep 26 to swoop up Chang Yu many times. The OST was beautiful also.
They shouldn’t have overlapped the final battle like that.. It would have worked much better if it was Wei Yan…
The drama ending was not satisfying to me, but I think the director wanted to be creative. They all wanted to be creative. The director messed up the ending for Bright Eyes in the Dark, which I was enjoying so much. Netizens were so mad at the director that he sent Johnny Huang and Zhang Jing Yi to do a livestream saying it was an open ending etc. In POJ, I would have preferred seeing a happy ending with the twins and also the grand wedding!
Yeah.. We keep hearing about his greatness but we don’t really get to witness it.. That was honestly disappointing..…
I am not one to complain about screentime, but in this case, I felt the marquis needed his time to shine in battle, but we didn't get it. There is a lot to love in POJ though. Even my brother who never watches these dramas got pulled in watching with his wife😂
I agree. It is ridiculous to see what is happening. It makes me feel ZLH is being targeted. But why? I did a search…
I hope they will ignore the fandom and collaborate anyway. He needs to step up and say something. Zhang Jing Yi has this natural presence that makes the chemistry so real. I am looking forward to her next drama.
I cannot tell you how much I loved Lusi in WRTW. I have waited for her to take another role like this but I don't know if this is a good time for her, as these roles are physically challenging. Still, I am selfishly hoping to see her in another martial arts role again. Bai Feng Xi💗💗💗

When they attack his costars it creates problems. Do a search on his Lancôme commercial with Zhang Jing Yi. They even complained that his name should be first not hers. Lancôme shut off comments because of them.
You made some excellent points. Why would they not show more of the marquis in battle? That would have made this so much. better. I thought we were going to see a great battles scene with the leads at the end but it didn't happen.
I think Sui Yuan Qing was rather endearing when he first appeared, and I am guilty of being happy when he did not die after falling off the cliff. But that changed quickly after😂

I still loved watching POJ for sure. I just wish they had included a scene with the leads fighting side by side or more of the famous marquis in battle. I find all the talk about "foundation general" ridiculous. There are even posts about how a general should look. ZLH has that commanding aura that makes these roles perfect for him, and I have no complaints about his looks.
Did you see what happened with the Lancome commercial? I have been hoping to see ZLH and Zhang Jing Yi in a drama together, but I don't know if this will ever come to pass after what his fandom did. I hope to see Jing Yi with many of my favorite actors. Loved her since L&P. Hopefully, a problematic fandom will not deter a collaboration. ZLH's fandom is the only fandom I have seen downrate its idol's drama.
But I was still on the edge of my seat and that one image where she was posed for a split second in the air just before the final hammer down was awesome!

It happens. I gave up on a few that some said were great. I fell asleep during some POJ episodes too but it was because I was tired😂 I am not one who nitpicks over screentime but I will say that at one point I lost patience that the romance was not given enough attention and I started to feel disconnected from that aspect. There wasn't enough of the ML in battle. I would have liked to have seen more of the leads fighting side by side. I am not saying it was perfect but I enjoyed it. This will not be a popular opinion, but I loved the romance in TPR more than in POJ. And before anyone attacks me in here, please note I gave both the same rating.
Also, I love a FL who can fight. Perhaps this is the reason I enjoyed watching Chang Yu. I did stop to think that the same knives she used to butcher the pig, is the same knife she used in battle🤔

I have been busy this week and was quite shocked to come in here yesterday to see so much talk about the foundation. It was even featured on Marcus Here. It is ridiculous. ZLH looked perfect to me as the general. He has a commanding presence. I would have liked to have seen more of him in battle. As much as I loved watching POJ, I was disappointed not to see certain scenes. Still a top drama to me. As for his fandom, as someone who has been attacked by them for liking OG and was even accused of being a shipper and not a true fan if I like a drama in which his scenes have been deleted, I can understand the point that his fandom is his worst enemy. I didn't realize how toxic some can be until my experience with OG. I have never seen a fandom put down its idol's drama. When we didn't see ZLH for several episodes here in POJ, I was surprised they didn't attack POJ too, but I think its success overrides the fact he had fewer scenes than the FL. His fandom was vehemently against ZLH taking POJ in the first place because it is female-centric. It even wrote a letter to his studio with demands. I don't go on Weibo, but from what I have heard, they are known to be problematic, and the hate directed at ZLH now might be the result of a toxic fandom that has offended others. I will probably be attacked for saying this. Whatever. It was awful in the OG forum because of the constant attacks and complaints from his fandom. I am still shocked they didn't do that here even though I know the outstanding performance of POJ overruled his screentime issue for them.
