I feel so lost. Ever since I saw the hype surrounding the series on social media, I've been waiting for it to…
The tough answer is sometimes a drama just doesn't hit for you. It's not a bad drama and you don't have bad taste. It's just not working for you. You'll have better luck next time for sure! 🙂
The main motive of this drama was Xu Yan trying to do something without her husband's help. She wanted to prove…
The reality in buisness is that you DO need partnerships and help. That doesn't mean you or the company is worthless - companies have ups and downs and competent leaders DO have the connections and relationships that they have built to pull things through.
She did prove herself his equal and gained self-confidence. But the story shows that this doesn't mean you must go it all alone, without human connections.
As someone who is long past my 30s and spent much time in buisness, the idea of some independent founder who needs no one and can handle everything themselves is just a fantasy.
The ratings are high. But I don't think CDramas are on the same level as KDramas because the writers and video…
I hate cliffhangers - I find them to be lazy storytelling. If you have a good product, then you don't need to manipulate the audience into watching the next episode. Just my opinion.
So I don't think it's a lack of "skill" that cdramas don't have a lot cliffhangers. I think they believe it's not needed.
I can’t stop thinking about how they suddenly moved into that massive office even though their business was…
I think this is just "filming logic" where we are expected pretend we don't notice 😅. It's way easier to film in larger spaces so often for convenience of the production team, characters live or work in unreasonably large places.
People keep saying “it’s just a TV show” — but let’s be real. If tomorrow a drama made Satan from the…
Let's be honest, satan has absolutely been portrayed as a romantic hero multiple times in fiction that uses christian mythology in the action/supernatural/horror genre. People like to play with irreverent things like this in fiction. It's fine to express you don't enjoy it. But definitely that's not out of pocket in western television and movies. And there is tons of fanfic on AO3 where a satan character is part of a romantic ship. Christians do see this regularly and most just shrug.
I'm not that this drama is good or anything, it's just wild to me that so many seriously care about a satan ml in a fictional tv show. I was raised on so many christian mythology horror and action films and tv shows. 😭 Didn't we all watch that one My Demon show a while back and wasn't he also (probably) satan?? It's just pretend in a silly show, so I am honestly confused that this turned out to be a dealbreaker for so many viewers. Gonna gonna go read some "Paradise Lost" and pull up my fav devil/ezekiel stone fic from Brimstone on AO3.
Please suggest me another modern drama like this to watch. I'm about to die waiting for the next episode, I need…
"Love from Divorce" on Tencent is a short drama (under 10 hours) that's much more comedic (satirical, even) and low budget. But it's an entertaining rom-com about a scum cold CEO and the wife he doesn't fall for until she divorces him. Then he chases her. Just don't expect a quality, serious drama.
I posted a comment below about this, but I feel like it's because we haven't seen ML's background and backstory,…
This is a really good point. We the audience are very influenced by the "point of view" of the narrative. We like the FL because it's her story. In another drama, this deceptive character archetype could be the 'despicable' second female lead and ML could be the burdened manipulative hero we are rooting for.
I find it interesting how nobody is hating on the age gap here - the actor is 39, the actress 26 (that's a 13…
I think because here it's all part of the plot. a ML the same as the FL in this drama wouldn't work, for this storyline. it was well casted. the roles feel right for the story being told.
After revenged love and abo desire, china is planning to ban every bl series even in international platform. Not…
what evidence do we have that the actors playing gay characters will be banned in the future? are we sure that part isn't just rumors? they never did that before.
Yeah, the old communist way, your life belongs to the team, your choice is make by the team and everything yours…
A lot of short online cdramas set in the 70s are including the darker uncurrents when people took ideologies to the extreme, and how selfish people will leverage popular political ideals to serve their greed and grudges. I think it's all good - it's healthy for people to explore the positive and negatives about the past, so we can learn from it. Art is good for self-reflection.
