Sometimes I wonder if the viewers are watching with one eye closed. Her father died, her mother abandoned her…
You make it seem as if its her fault and that she HAS to open up to Sang Yan, but that takes time, and as the story progresses she eventually will. But you also have to remember that before moving in together, they hadn't seen each other in 8 years, meaning they have to rebuild the relationship they once had during high school. You can obviously feel bad for Sang Yan, we all do, but ultimately Wen Yi Fan is a victim and people cope differently. She has a defense mechanism that makes her put up a wall because that's how she has managed to survive through all the trauma. You will see that Wen Yi Fan actually loves Sang Yan more than is shown
Honestly sang Yan has a mountain of patience to deal with the FL . Ugh she is very frustrating - granted there…
Sometimes I wonder if the viewers are watching with one eye closed. Her father died, her mother abandoned her and she had to live with her grandma. Her grandma died soon enough and she was forced to live with her aunt. She got mistreated very badly there and her uncle did something that would cause her trauma (you will see soon enough). She then moved out and had to live with strangers and got sexually harassed by one of them. During all of her school years she has been mistreated by close family members and even her own peers. Everyone only saw her as a pretty face and treated her as trash and badmouthed her. Considering all of this, you expect her to trust others easily? Even though she has gotten hurt over and over by the closest people to her.
i’ve never been so invested in a cdrama before, first thing i do after waking up is watching the new episodes, this drama has me in a chokehold and i love every bit of it
Yes! This is exactly how I feel about Sang Yan. I saw a comment below saying Ruo Nan is carrying this drama and…
I saw that comment as well and wanted to say something!! I don’t think anyone is “carrying” the drama, both have outstanding performances and their own charms. This is my first drama with Bai Jing Ting and he’s such a good actor!! I love how he managed to make Sang Yans character come to life, and same with Ruo Nan, she truly exceeded my expectations!
You made me realise something.. the reason why he didn't pursue her instead waited for her to take the lead is…
Exactly!! Since her confidence has been destroyed by people around her, she constantly undermines her worth and believes that she hurt Sang Yan too much for him to forgive her, not realising that he would probably wait an eternity till she finally is ready to make the move. That’s why TFF also has an alternative title, “Eternal Love”. I love them so much !!
Sang Yan.... the man that he is. He can't even be called a green flag anymore, he should be called a green universe instead. The way we can see how much he is longing for Wen Yi Fan's embrace, her touch, yet he knows he can't be too selfish. He is so delicate with her and never tries to come on too strongly or pursue her in ways she wouldn't be ready for. Because he understands that she needs time to heal and he is already content with being near her, he doesn't wish for much more. His love language is actions, everything he does, is for her sake. The way he pretends to be constantly on his phone just so he can be close to her without making her too uncomfortable, the way he always "accidentally" makes too much food just so he can take care of Wen Yi Fan's nutrition, the way he didn't sleep in the house in the beginning so she can be comfortable and the way he is just always looking out for her. He is everything that our delicate Wen Yi Fan needs
Not everyone will understand why Wen Yi Fan acts the way she does. She knows she has people that she can lean on and will listen to her struggles, but since she's been growing up with a defense mechanism that shuts out other people so she can protect her peace, its hard for her to change that. She needs to find that stability in her life that can guarantee her safety, because the closest people around her that were supposed to protect this innocent soul all failed to do that. She got betrayed and hurt over and over again, every ounce of hope she had built up crumbled again and again. Those that were supposed to be her safe space prioritised themselves instead of listening to her cry of help.
Sang Yan, as seen in the dream, is the sun that shines light over her dark world. He is the stability that she needs in her life to heal, a pillar that will stabilize her crumbling world. But she cant let him in yet, she needs the reassurance that he wont also betray and hurt her. Thats why I find this slow burn so special, its not just a romantical journey, but the healing journey of Wen Yi Fan and how she gradually lets the sun in her gloomy world.
just like i predicted, only the female lead is getting hated on, being called “damsel in distress”, it’s only 6 episodes in and people are already quick to blame her for getting SAd and for not being clever enough, i’m just baffled by the internal misogyny
my poo baby wen yi fan, shes been through so much and been bottling up all her emotions instead of leaning on someone’s shoulder, she reminds me a lot of myself
I can see someone went ahead and rated all the episodes the lowest they could and I guess a few tried to counter…
the negative comment about bai jing ting is pretty far down, basically it was someone saying how “the male lead is kinda ugly and the acting is not great”
as for the bitter HL fans, i’ve mostly seen them on tiktok, thankfully not as many here, and i also really liked HL but comparing the two dramas just because they are set in the same universe is absurd to me
i seriously believe that the people who are already hating on this (mind u only 4 episodes have been released) are just bitter HL fans that are either mad about the fact that victor ma isn’t playing sang yan, or just want to compare HL and TFF when they are stand alones and are completely different plot wise
i understand this not being everyones cup of tea, but hating and saying that bai jing ting is kinda ugly and that the acting is bad, i simply just don’t see it ! like are we even watching the same drama?
