Any recommendations for more jdramas like this where the Female lead doesn't have a doormat personality or doesn't…
Yangotonaki Ichizoku!(Involvement in Family Affairs) also Hold My Hand at Twilight, Trillion Game, Ousama ni Sasagu Kusuriyubi, and Perfect World - all good, strong FLs!!
this is soooooo cute!!! i loved the heart and the characters that formed a warm little community; PERFECT for a rainy-day watch! My only gripe is the cliffhanger romance they left us with ππππ i'm just a sucker for loooove
I loooove this type of trash TV! The visuals in Republican era dramas are always so pleasing to the eye, there's lots and lots of skinship, and the absolute overdramatization of everything is just so hilarious. In no other era will you see such trigger-happy, violent characters completely over-reacting over every little transgression
NAHHHHHHH THATS IT I REFUSE TO WATCH ANY MORE OF THIS im on ep 18 but i can't watch a second more of this because of what they did to my favorite character πππ honestly somewhere along the line i just stopped caring about the ML and FL but the writers just had to break my heart πππ
M glad u understood the Hong sisters intention with fls char. Ppl tend to overlook why fl was turned out that…
Yes! I also loved the role reversal in S2-- now FL is the carefree spirit with a firm belief in their love while ML is the unsure, conflicted one... I LOVED the way he slowly lets himself love again and lose control and composure-- S1 was sparks being ignited while S2 was passionate burning flames. Kudos to LJW for being able to portray it all so well and GYJ holding her own place to complete the story
Sure, this wasn't as phenomenal as S1 but I definitely loved it. Maybe it's because I watched the two seasons back to back, but I felt it was a cohesive ending.
Judging from the comments here, it seems to be an unpopular opinion, but I loved both Jung So Min and Go Yoon Jung as FLs. The comments made me think they were randomly changing the FL, but she was present from S1 so i don't see why it's such a big sad deal. I believe the character Cho Yeong would have wanted to shed the face that was never hers and take on her true face. From her childhood and youth flashbacks, she seemed to be exactly what Go Yoon Jung portrayed in S2-- a spunky woman who went after what she wanted, without the malice and hatred that Jin Mu had planted in her when he shaped her into a weapon. ML had serious chemistry with both FLs... I enjoyed the heck out of all their interactions(sorry S1, but that S2 kiss made me feel ALL SORTS OF THINGS π)
Though I missed the lightheartedness of S1, the dark tones were also justified because of what all the characters had been through. It was a good drama, with a nice solid ending. I took it as a 30-ep drama instead of a part 1 and 2, so everything felt nicely wrapped as it came to a meaningful close. I don't care what anyone else thinks, but I'm glad the writers did whatever they could to ensure the happiness of our beloved characters.
Unfortunately I did not care for LBFAD and dropped it about halfway. I skipped many parts and thought it was overwritten,…
I'm not trying to "set anyone straight." I just feel highly cheated after seeing all the raving happy comments and not one mentioning that the characters other than the mains were flat and the writing is annoyingly slow. All the above mentioned comparison dramas have comment sections equally divided in opinion. Whatβs wrong with saying things as I see it? Im not trying to convince anyone to hate the drama.
It's good to share your feelings after watching. I think it's a cup of taste question whether people like this…
I feel like the writers have made both of them so powerful but don't know what to do with it because there's no one to really fight with. LBFAD worked their way out of that dilemma by creating an all-powerful character but put him in the Demon Realm so he had different priorities. If the ML is from Immortal Realm, he's ALWAYS restricted from falling in love and doing whatever he wants. Thus, AOL's Phoenix and L&D's God of War were weakened in the beginning/weren't all-powerful and needed more cultivation. This drama has two extremely powerful main leads and nearly zero real conflict.
AOL and LBFAD had political struggles, grey characters, and villains in both the Immortal and Demon realms, which made things interesting because we never knew where anyone's loyalty lay and things kept switching up. In this drama, except for one betrayal (which doesn't even feel like a betrayal because that guy still kept protecting her), everyone is loyal to the FL and thinks on the same lines and obeys her. The Demon Lord is also a good woman even though she restricts FL from time to time. Immortal Realm is full of weak, forgettable characters but they're all either petty-but-good or petty and stupid. Very, very few characters are three dimensional, and that's what made it so boring to me. AOL, LBFAD, and L&D all had weak FLs who grew and trained themselves into very powerful beings through trials and hardships-- their journey to maturity was what everyone was waiting to see. I genuinely liked this strong and powerful FL, but nothing much happens other than her fight scenes. She's always good and always makes the right decisions and everyone is always loyal to her, which just makes ML look even more useless, the way he's so powerful and just walks around all day because there's nothing to do.

thanks! I did find the struggle of the ML very real, different, and interesting, which is why I ploughed through to ep 25... but you're right, I can't take how slow it is. I also find the writing very sloppy or plain dumb in some cases like the entire death + mourning scene. The Immortal Realm doesn't help out with anything, we can blame it on their elitist pampered mindset, but ML? He's made out to be someone so smart and everything and he's clearly seen that the villain isn't easy to handle, but he waits until she dies to come and mourn and throw a tantrum that doesn't really achieve anything? Doesn't at all seem like something such a supreme being would do, even if he was trying to stop himself from falling for her.
lol.... quite a valid rant π the slow pacing in this, does grind my nerves at times. It isn't so bad that I've…
unfortunately I can't change the video speed on Viki :( I've also been desperately searching for light, happy dramas, but this doesn't really fit that bill either... I just found the plot and characters so underwhelming as the eps went on
Maybe I'll just go search in the vast black hole of trash fluff cdramas lol
I dont want to be a blind hater, but who said this was better than Love Between Fairy and Devil?
I love xianxia and i understand things take a long time to get moving but im 21 episodes in and idk what I've even watched. Only one character experienced some sort of character growth(Furong) and he's supposed to be comedic relief. Sure, the ML is a different sort of character and the banter between him and FL is funny, but its still underwhelming. FL's fight scenes are fun and well done but no one has upgraded their powers or gone through anything epic, except maybe the fight with the Chimei. Most of the show is just ML taking unbelievably long strolls, moving too slow, and making FL take the long walks too. Ive been through 60-ep xianxias like Ashes of Love and Love & Destiny, so of course there are filler eps but 20 eps of just... nothing? Heck, I hated Immortal Samsara but at least they were doing SOMETHING, dying and crying and sacrificing and whatnot! I cant watch hours and hours of drama just to giggle for two seconds and then continue watching ML take his insufferably slow walks. Fine, he's not a young hothead like AOL's Phoenix or LBFAD's Dongfang Qingcang, but Love & Destiny's ML was also on the older side and still managed to be so cool. If I cojld get a dollar for every time I expected ML to make a cool badass entrance and he just frickin slowly descends or slowly walks in... When you have two main characters who are already quite mature, theres barely anything to keep a viewer hooked
Well, I came for the photography part and man, it sucks. Boring as hell. Love Rain did a way better job to incorporate…
Not a photography expert, but have you watched the drama "Tomorrow With You"? I found the photography part quite nicely woven in (FL is a people-photographer)
