Am just here to read all the comments and see if i should give this a try
Just do it! At least try with the first episode, it made me hooked from the very first scenes. If you like the darker type of dramas then it's definitely worth a try.
I want to give this a try, by looking at high ratings. Is it good? Also, how is romance? Is this better than Blossoms…
It's really good, for me even better than Blossoms in Adversity. It's a matter of preference, I love this type of dramas.
The most important difference between those two is the vibe of the drama itself. BiA was more on typical "Life" drama side, romance was cute, based on healthy communication. It had some darker moments but overall I would call it wholesome.
On the other side we have The Double which from the very first scenes shows you what you will be getting - much darker and "dirtier" vibe, characters (both good and bad) can balance on grayish side with their actions. Villains are much worse and cruel, there is more of them (stopped counting how many people drive me mad because of their evilness). Some episodes could've some trigger warnings to be displayed at the beginning as there were quite disturbing scenes or topics.
More blood, more action scenes, more cruelty in general. I strongly recommend to at least try with first few episodes. If you gonna like it - then drama gets even better how the story progresses. If you don't like those - I don't think it's for you.
Yesterday I told ya all that the shirt will not be returned, I was right, haha He gave her one piece from his…
Oh, that's such a nice detail and metaphor of the progressing relationship between those two. She's been also repeatedly offering her life to him, with each episode it's getting more serious and intense when she says those words.
Wait wait Ye Shi Jie. Hold on. Why you calling her A'Li 😐 step back man. Someone tell him not to mess with…
He's her cousin after all (in theory, he doesn't know that her identity is fake).
I don't either feel any romance potential between Shijie and A'Li, maybe he has or will have a secret crush on her but that's all. But I don't know the original story so I may be wrong.
That would be sooo nice, there is also a melon saying that Fangs of Fortune will air in July. Let’s add Lost You Forever 2 airing at the same time and I will not leave my house for the whole month 😂
Same. Literally the only two costume dramas I fully liked in 2024 and they were both started randomly.
For me the best so far were: JoL2, Legend of ShenLi, Blossoms in Adversity. This one has a potential to be the 4th good one this year. 2 dramas from Tencent, 2 from Youku. IQIYI is not doing well, especially after big disappointment on FSMM but they have a lot to come in the next months, so fingers crossed.
i don't know what waiting for us, in my opinion The Grand Princess might be go thought something horrible during…
It would be nice to see more complex villain. Can't wait to find out about her past as hostage. She could go through a lot of horrible stuff but if she's doing bad things herself it's not gonna make her a good person anyway, possibly more dimensional villain character. I don't see her redemption/being a good person at all, she literally made the FL's ex husband to set up and kill his innocent wife.
The production is very unique making this drama standout. we had a lot of face swap/transmigration/rebirth dramas…
I would call it a face swap done right and logically, it's not some magical stuff going one but part of the bigger FL's revenge scheme. Topic itself is also used well to add more suspense and gives actors some place to show off with their acting abilities. It makes me happy and excited to see more dramas done on "darker side", it feels refreshing (I liked My Journey to You, too, can't wait for Fangs of Fortune to air).
Plus dubious intentions aside, it was her suggestion after all that gave the female lead this chance to make a…
I think it was to stir up even more on the connections and exclusivity among people who are already in power. It brings more imbalance. If the exams would not base on the teamwork, that could be considered an equal treatment. Otherwise, it just makes powerful people more powerful and takes away the possibilities from less lucky ones.
Looks like Youku is doing quite well in the first half of this year when it comes to costume dramas. I picked up randomly Blossoms in Adversity first to be positively surprised and looks like it's the same case with The Double. I'm after ep 9 and enjoying it so far. Can't wait for the story to unfold, I feel that we are just at the very beginning.
How's this thing so far? I dropped Fox and want a drama with a good storyline and substance.
Hah, same, dropped FSMM and started watching this one to be absolutely positively surprised. It's on a darker side, ML's and FL's acting is spot on, no filler scenes. So far, so good, worth to try for sure!
For me this is a black horse among this year’s kdramas, right next to Lovely Runner. It deserves to reach 9.0 rating, no doubts. Fingers crossed for it to happen and for more people to have a chance to watch this hidden gem.
