great fight scenes, but too many storylines that were picked up and dropped or explained in a rush e.g. the storm alliance was interesting in four episodes and could be its own drama.
the princess and emperor deserved a better ending, or at least a reborn storyline, both of them smarter. the older gen should have a reborn storyline too, one of these days. I've always wondered if c drama writers could write a redemption story for an emperor who made so many mistakes and ruined his family, but keep him middle aged with his children. I always thought he was an intelligent emperor, but a bad father. is it too much to ask to have both in a drama? he's clearly smart and powerful enough to have both, but because of his insecurities he got nothing in the end and hurt his family.
the three heroes of jinxiu deserve a redo as well, where they aren't involved with the crazy xia brothers.
I find it odd that only one of the “arab” characters (zatara) is listed in the cast list. Where are the actors who played shadi and Khalid? Especially the former as he’s almost a supporting role
