Due to censorship and all that, do you think Immortality could do justice to the novel? Or do you expect the drama…
I still think it could do justice to the novel! But I don't want to keep my hopes up.
The gore in the novel is probably going to be censored out but that's not entirely a big problem to me.
How well the plot is portrayed ... depends completely on the skill of the scriptwriter. I'm not sure how they'll go about the reincarnation process but as long as changes make sense I'm all good with it.
Ranwan obviously won't get the representation it deserves but hey, censored BLs can still make me scream and blush. I mean the BTS pictures of Mo Ran and Chu Wanning hugging each other is already enough to make me hyperventilate.
Going to YT and having to read comments every now and then about how Zhou Zishu and Wen Kexing are bros only is…
It truly is exhausting ...
Until censorship actually allows 2 men or 2 women to kiss or have an established relationship, there's gonna be these homophobics everywhere.
Personally I think it's considerably less than the amount of people who thought Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji from the BL adaptation The Untamed were bros. I think these homophobic people will get less and less with the release of Feng Huo Liu Jin and Immortality (and other BL adaptations!)
bruh i dont understand why people are not satisfied with zhai xiaowen playing as xie lian? he has proved his worth…
I have no comment about his acting, because I haven't watched his works. But I don't have a problem with him being an idol actor.
My problem is ... his face. His aura. Sounds shallow but yes I have a problem with it.
I'm not saying he's not beautiful. HE IS BEAUTIFUL. VERY. He's just not Xie Lian to me.
It's certainly hard to get an actor with the face of a character, understandable. I certainly prioritize acting skills over visuals, but as a major fan of this book, I really feel like I can't look at this guy EVER and think, "Wow, he's Xie Lian." As I said, sounds shallow, but visuals r pretty important.
For example, for the adaptation "Immortality", the actor Luo Yunxi is LITERALLY the ML straight out of the book. A bit older with mature but sharp looking beauty. For the drama "Guardian", Bai Yu who plays the MC is definitely not THE most handsome man I've ever seen. But he has such a roguish but sometimes adorable look which fits the MC perfectly.
I'm not making too many judgements yet though! I'll still wait for the drama to air and make impressions by then.
So I haven't ACTUALLY finished TGCF, but I've read enough to know that it's an extremely amazing book.
God I am just ... so disappointed with the leaks. First off THE CAST. Zhai Xiaowen and Zhang Linghe are undoubtedly very handsome men, but they just AREN'T Xie Lian and Hua Cheng! At all! I'm not picking on their looks I'm just saying their facial features aren't THE Xie Lian and Hua Cheng. I mean, in all the other BL adaptations there was literally perfect casting. Zhu Yilong's large and innocent eyes made him really look like a sophisticated proffesor but then also a dark entity at the same time. Luo Yunxi hasn't even played Chu Wanning yet but he has a mature beauty and the way he walks is ethereal. Xiao Zhan and his bunny smile was literally perfect for Wei Wuxian. Zhai Xiaowen and Zhang Linghe literally look like those mediocre cosplayers of Xie Lian and Hua Cheng that I see on Instagram!
Second off, what's wrong with the quality of their costumes? Again it looks like a mediocre cosplay. The color just looks off too. I mean Wen Kexing's Ghost Valley Master red robes looked so rich even if it was a dirt poor budget drama. Tf is up with TGCF's outfit?!?!
Also what's wrong with Xie Lian's hair TWT. I know it's the same style as the donghua, but I don't know if it's Zhai Xiaowen's face that bothers me or the actual hairstyle. The loops at the forehead look sooo tight I wish it was loosened more. Also the 2 strands of hair just look so weird and random? It''s just so tightly put together I wish they loosened it a bit more.
I mean this isn't just me being nitpicky on a book I love, I'm genuinely disappointed. Like 2HA's adaptation HYX looks amazing. SaYe's adaptation Chasing The Light looks amazing. But everything here just really .... WASH MY EYES

yesss there's been cosplays of TGCF that look higher-budgeted than this
