Yup I definitely believe you... I've dreamt of HYX at least twice. It just shows our desperation for this show…
First time I dreamed of HYX airing. You can imagine the immense disappointment I felt when I woke up.
Also I have a really weird thing when I dream, no matter how weird it is, my brain thinks it's real. I was in the 2HA universe as Chu Wanning's disciple, and I really don't remember anything else because it was sooo crazy :'D
Can u pls telle which ch of the novel is this scene
Well to be honest I'm not entirely sure. There's probably a lot of scenes of Chu Wanning holding a bleeding Mo Ran. I was just thinking of Chapter 100 when I saw this photo, but I could be wrong.
So, there are no kisses or sexual relations of any sort between the MLs. The main BL content is from the emotional journey of the MLs.
Gazes: There are plenty of gazes. The MLs stare at each other with slo-mo and music playing in the background. Trust me, those gazes are NOT brotherhood.
Physical Contact: No kisses here. The extent was a piggyback ride and a fall-on-top-of-each-other-and-then-stare-at-each-other. As someone who shipped this CP so much, I obviously thought these were romantic. There's a lot of arm grabbing, a little bit of hand-holding, and supporting each other (mostly cuz of injuries though).
Homoerotic Subtext: So, in WOH, there was a "cut-sleeve" scene where Wen Kexing cut off Zhou Zishu's sleeve, and Zhou Zishu cuts off Wen Kexing's sleeve. Because of an ancient tale of an emperor and his lover, cutting off a sleeve means homosexuality. This is homoerotic subtext. The Untamed has PLENTY of these. There's many times where symbols of marriage are used between the MLs. It depends on your dad's cultural understanding to be able to deduce these subtexts. If he doesn't understand the culture very much, then these are ignorable.
Symbolism: Similar to homoerotic subtext, but there's one specific thing in the drama to watch out for. The ML has something that only his parents, family, and significant other can touch. And well... the other ML touches it often so
Chemistry: Stronger than any heterosexual couple I've ever seen, but this is an opinion (which I'm sure many people would agree with :'D)
Confessions: No outright confessions in this drama. But there is one scene with music and all that slo-mo which very much SEEMS like a confession, they call each other soulmates.
Emotional level: This is the most selling part of the ship in CQL. The sacrifices and journey the MLs go through together, and the descision to stand by each other's side makes it the most romantic.
When I watched this, I had NO previous exposure to BL or GL dramas. I went into The Untamed because my friend recommended it to me like crazy. Didn't even know it had 2 MLs. I got suspicious by episode 2. I basically confirmed it at episode 6. I was completely on board by episode 14. I realized I was bisexual last year, but I thought I was heterosexual while watching this drama.
My mother is someone who is not supportive of LGBTQ+, but accepts them because they're not influencing her life. She could obviously see the MLs relationship was romantic, and remarked on it. She obviously didn't like it as much as me, but she was fine with it.
So, if you ask me, I don't understand how anybody could see this as anything OTHER than romantic.
However, there are a lot of people who said their conservative parents watched this and didn't see the romantic side to it.
Just to confirm, they do NOT actually establish a romantic relationship due to censorship (just like in WOH).
I think you should first consider your dad's cultural understanding and how he feels about LGBTQ+ shows in general.
The link is not working. Someone took it down. Does anyone have another link to what this was about? Please?
Sorry, I can't find another link to what was shown ... :(((
But it was a BTS photo of Mo Ran and Chu Wanning in red wedding robes. One of the photos showed them holding the red ribbon used for marriage (NOT an edit)
These photos refer to a particular scene in the novel, where Mo Ran and Chu Wanning had a fake wedding.
I'm really curious about the name of Lan Wangji's sword...After finishing this show, I went onto YouTube to watch…
HAHAHA I HAD NO IDEA THE SUBS SAID THAT THAT'S HILARIOUS
避(bi) - avoid 尘(chen) - dirt, dust
If you take it literally, it sounds like a household tool. But I'm pretty sure it means to "avoid the dirty parts of the world and stay righteous". Lans are known for being upright, so Bichen just means to avoid seeking things that are considered "dirty".
But I agree with you so much!!! The character development and the plot is just beautiful TWT. And I especially loved the waterfall scenery.
oh damn i also expected GF and ZZH on there TWT TWT TWT
Ahhh don't worry the little hints and moments will really make you scream since you really like LGBTQ+ shows!
Well if you want to watch with him you could always just be like "Gay? What gay? I don't see it? *innocent blink* (◕‿◕✿)"
Well it's not like all the heterosexual shows I've watched made me actually heterosexual....
Understandable that you don't want your dad to find out you're bisexual! I'd still be careful about watching this show then...
