Ep 51 - is the final breakup. CSS returns his pendant and HBY is exiled.Ep 52- Time skip begins and HBY returns,…
I might be unpopular...
- HATE ME, but CSS didn't break with LBY just because he didn't tell her his real name, or that he was going to slay an entire clan. She called-it-off because of what Wang Ling said, "You don't know LBY, he's the most evil and treacherous person, my husband has spies and he has all kids of schemes going on." Just a few scenes earlier, she told LBY "Why didn't you tell me X, & Y , & Z, about all your plots? I don't know you at all!" And then he marches into a birthday party and kills an entire clan. - deposed empress spent her last breaths talking about others and giving advice when she said she wasn't going to waste her last breaths doing that - scenes where CSS tries to reconnect to her parents and grandmother, unnecessary, and bad use of limited screen time - Final episode is disappointing. - EVERYBODY seems to have it out for CSS - A dungeon! Really? And a person that should have been dead in a plot with kerosine, straw, and a lighted match. If LBY thought about those passages, would have been easier for an injured person, a pregnant woman in labor, and a weak woman than the rickety ladder. I'm jus' sayin' - The Cheng family riding in on horses. Yawn. But they needed to be there at the end, so the best way to get them there was with horses. - LBY having a tete-a-tete with the bad guy, who survives having a hand almost sliced-off and a few major 8" deep puncture wounds while the world is burning
LOVED the series until the last episode. But it's hard to find a good ending for such a great series.
*wipes tears from eyes* The engagement party at the end of 34 has got to be the funniest one I've ever been invited…
OMG! SO TRUE!!! Imagine a party where a noble trots in and wants to beat the hell out of you, suddenly, in shashays the king, queen, and a consort. There is some yelling, loud voices, and suddenly, the former queen is being hauled-out and tossed aside like a spent paper towel! Imagine the talk in that town? The best part was the Scholar thinking it was going to get icky and he would be needed, but NOOOOOO! There was a king. And a queen. And a consort. And some guards. A lot of guards. He was AGAIN outdone by LBY and not needed to save-the-day. The Scholar just can't seem to catch a break.
Tell me about it. I've been searching for a new or old drama to watch and I can't seem to get pass 10 or 20 mins…
After Dream of Splendor and this series, I've given-up. Been watching Episodes 1 & Last of a bunch of dramas. Started Jade Palace, from 2011. Couldn't take it. Gave up and watched the final episode. YAWN
hahaha. not yet. At this point in the novel she hasnt crossed that boundary yet - they are still advisors. .....…
These dramas really take liberty with customs. A man and woman would have never been alone in a room. As in NEVER. The woman's reputation would have been ruined. And if her family (honor) killed her as a result, no one would say anything. Men and women did not publicly touch. So the hugs, handholding, and kiss at the banquet would have NEVER happened. LBY scooping-up CSS in front of the other ladies when they pushed her down would have meant that LBY had to 'be responsible for her' now that he touched her in a such a personal way. Those girls being wet from falling off the bridge would have been scandalous! Their wet clothes clinging to their bodies!!! In one scene, CSS and the Scholar are talking in a corridor, alone. In another scene, the 5th prince and CSS being alone at the lake is a 'tryst.' Cinematic license. Ya gotta roll-with-it.
If they are trying to stay true to the novel, it will probably be the last episode. If they don't follow the novel,…
Thank you so much! Knowing this takes the edge off of viewing the episodes. The Scholar is such a stuffed-shirt character. Knowing you are tall, handsome, aristocratic, and accomplished, and sought-after by all the ladies, he could not believe that someone as without accomplishments as CSS was neither interested in him nor flattered by his interest in her! If not for the complications of the first guy's family, he would have been a good match for her as he doted on her and they would not have had any struggles. It has been fun to watch three completely different men, with very different characters, chase after the same girl, all for the very same reason: she is different from the norm. The scene-stealer is CSS's mother, the only person in the entire cast of characters with her wits completely intact. She is the only one that realizes all these men like her daughter. After the engagement with LBY, she truly throws her hands-in-the-air and gives-up. She was the comic relief the series needed.
They will engage but short time (and not because SS love him, she will always love only LBY), after LBY will back…
I hate the YangYang character! And even more hate the way she is portrayed, all whiny and cringy and clingy and afraid. Would really tick me off if she got the guy she pined after, especially after the way her mother treated her so well and CSS so badly. She should get a mediocre guy, or if she does marry the overbearing scholar, be miserable that he ignores her. NO ONE could love him as much he loves himself.
The reality of princesses is that they get married off and so it's like sending trouble out the door and never…
Didn't LBY make an insulting comment to her regarding her betrothal when she had SS's shoes tossed and tripped her when barefoot? In that scene I think he made a remark about the princess' intended groom.
Based on trailer.. I think she will not tell and LBY will find out when 5th princess accidentally spill the beans..
Have a love/hate relationship w/previews! It's nice to get a peek, but often the image portrayed it is out of context with the true storyline. I am guessing that LBY is wicked-mad thinking that weasel 5th prince is stalking his girl, so he confronts and threatens him. Weasel 5th prince is likely scared enough to wet his short little pants, so spills the beans on what the 5th princess did to SS. Uh-oh. I think that is when LBY says "How long were you going to keep this from me?" Or words to that effect. But the previews make it look like LBY's upset that the 5th prince did something to SS. Which he may be, but I don't think that's the way the story will develop.

LBY placing SS's arm around his waist!
I'm seeing some First Night prep going on...

All will be revealed. Next week. (ARGH!)
