I cried every single episode
Just when I thought it can't get any more tragic any more angstier, anymore tear jerking, it did. I was not prepared. It has it's comedic elements and it's serious ones, which somehow balance perfectly. This is Gold.I was told the ML is really just his face card but it's A LIE so I suggest you go in with no pre-conceived notions because this is one of the best dramas I have ever watched.

When the Secondary Couple outshines the main one
TW for the drama: suicide attempt, depression, death of a family member.Yes this drama was a Romance. But not in the way you'd expect. Love can take many forms: familial, platonic, self-love, and this drama was a masterclass in all the kinds.
The secondary couple I'm talking about is Hong Shi Jun and Son Ju-A, high school sweethearts who spent seven years together before coming to a crashing, tragic end.
The lingering feelings and unspoken confessions bring them together for one last time: their final chance to set things right. The ebb and flow of their relationship, the constant push and pull, pulled me in, so much so that I forgot that they were the second couple.
At first I found myself rooting for them, hoping for a cliche end where they realise their true feelings and the power of love sets everything right! But after episode 8-9, I finally, fully understood that they couldn't be together.
Jua's vice was loving Si-Jun too much and never asking for anything in return. She put aside everything for him and loved him like crazy. Si-jun's vice was loving Jua quietly, without any late night confessions or grand sweeping spectacles. This was fine for a while, but later brewed and caused burns that no words could heal.
They couldn't get back together. I realised it at the same time that the characters did. There was too much hurt that had been there for much too long. Even if they resolved everything and got back together, the wounds wouldn't go away.
This drama is a masterclass in storytelling. The way I understood some things even when they weren't said, the way the characters hesitate and glance at each other in silence, and when they speak it's in a few quiet words that carry the weight of a thousand unspoken regrets. I can't even begin to describe the feels this drama gave me.
It made me cry, it made me smile and most of all, I felt relieved when they finally parted because I understood, as did the characters, that they weren't meant to be.
I also want to say that I understand that romance wasn't really the point of the main couple coming together. It was grief. They processed their grief and trauma with each other and that's a beautiful thing.
After of all that, Ko Jun was actually my favourite character. A person who has no choice but to live on for someone else. He also taught me so much about grief. Sometimes, you love a person so much but know nothing about them. How do you even bear that? Someone you've loved all your life who didn't even trust you enough to open up about anything?
But that doesn't change anything does it? The part that loved you, was also ultimately a part of that person. They loved you and that was all that mattered.
I know that was kind of a mess and not the structured review I wanted it to be... but I just finished the drama and I feel so empty 🫠 I hope you'll give it a try even tho I sound incoherent lol.
That was.... Melo Movie, not the romance it pretended to be, but an excellent, heartwarming portrayal of grief, healing, loss, self love and letting go.

Completely shat on the masterpiece that was season 1
Dropped it at episode 4, the first season was so much better it was about survival, sacrifice, relationships, and the astounding resilience of humanity, it was about tearing apart the human psyche and analysing it.This just feels like we're playing good cop bad cop.
The groundwork that season 1 laid for more exploration of the curse/disease was completely thrown out the window. We were told that nothing that was crucial in the development if season 1 really mattered anymore. All the positive character traits in our central cast that mattered were thrown out. hyunsu's resilience and resolve were boiled down to teenage anger like he was going thru puberty..
So fucking disappointing. I'm dropping this here so that I can keep my happy memories of season 1 safe.

Destined With You: Everyone's cheating so it's fine :)
What the actual fuck happened. This drama managed to totally crash and burn in the 11-12 episodes. The breakup saga was so toxic and it WAS cheating no matter how you gaslight me. No matter how bad his gf is, it doesn't erase the fact that he did in fact cheat.This could just as easily be a cautionary tale for women to not be a side-chick, ever. The leads had like negative chemistry. The second lead guy was a god tier catch compared to the douchebag ML. Unless they make him evil in the later episodes which idk I have zero interest now. Like do you expect the FL to have telepathic powers and read your mind??? And when she gets angry you try to KISS her?? Like wtf-- Kisses don't solve anything, if anything it's a manipulation tactic.
It felt so gross and toxic.
I'm not continuing this ever.
There was no explanation about the spells. The plot was left in the back burner for like 4 episodes. Then the Joseon arc was thrown in our face without any explanation or preamble.
And I really don't care how cute it was or whatever. A love spell is wrong. If it did work everything was wrong. So fucking gross. It didn't feel romantic at all. 🤮
I've wasted 12 hours of my life and I will not be wasting anymore.

Chemistry died and it's body was never found.
It started out good alright. There was an interesting mystery, interesting conflict, interesting magic and fantasy elements. It was fun. But then what I thought was going to be the central conflict got resolved in like episode 3 and the next plotline that got introduced took everything to shit.The starting of this drama was VERY intense. There are mentions of heavy heavy child abuse, cannibalism, casual murder, gore, ptsd, and lots more. All things I do not mind if they serve a good purpose. They did seem to in the beginning, but it quickly devolved into 'look how tortured this guy is' and it was....icky. For all the complex backstory the ML had, the FL had NONE. No backstory. She just got truck-kuned into this fantasy world and she just wants to eat well sleep well and "vacation" all the time. Which, fair irl but really?
She also had no ambitions or purpose or motivation and he just falls for her BECAUSE she's so bland-- like 💀 really? I felt weirded out by how truly girl give us nothing she was. No human should be THIS bland I feel like Water has more variety and flavour than her. Her most interesting personality trait is that she talks in modern slang and no one can understand her- isn't that so funny haha-- 💀💀 That's one of my biggest pet peeves. At one point they use mirrors to communicate and she goes "omg a video call" to which the ML says 'What's a video call' and she goes on to describe it 🤦🏻♀️. I was cringing so hard the entire time 🫥. No normal person should be this bland. Like was she a blank slate in her modern day life?? Does she not have anyone she misses? She did not seem like a real person to me. Just a "teeheehee i'm so quirky" cardboard cutout for the ML to smooch.
And of course because she wasn't a fully realised character, they had NO chemistry. None. I waited for the kiss scenes cause I thought it would get better but it got worse??? The kiss scenes looked so forced & awkward. They jumped out of nowhere and I was like alright I guess they're in love now. Literally the 13-15 episodes go like 'he goes and does cool things and returns home and they kiss omg isn't that cute'-- NO IT'S NOT. What does she even do when he's not around?? DRAW EMOJIS WITH MAGIC IN THE AIR, seriously. And then of course she goes ahead and describes what emojis are--- 🥴😭
The acting wasn't particularly good either. So many scenes looked awkward af. Mostly because of bad writing but I wasn't impressed with the acting either. Nor the Main Characters nor the side characters. Especially the serpent character I felt so taken out because his acting was SO awkward. i think they did the best they could with the writing they were given but yeah. It was BAD.
Also they just forgot their own magic rules ALL THE TIME. At some point two characters go 'omg look blood but the trail stops here that's so weird why did the blood trail stop" Did you all forget you can FLY when you were having battles in the air 5 minutes ago???????? 💀
I am astonished by how SPECTACULARLY this failed. It was so bad that I stopped procrastinating and started studying 😭 So I guess I recommend it if you want to stop watching dramas Lmao
Don't waste your time in here. There's nothing. Till the end of the moon scratches the same itch and it was much better.

INSUFFERABLE ML
He's so damn insufferable. Thinks he deserves everything and that the things he likes should be his. Has no regard for other's will or life experiences just an insufferable spoiled brat in general.I am a sucker for bad blood red flag MLs but he's like a 14 y/o stubborn boy. He acts like the Fl 'owes' him love or smth like sure you had a past relationship but stfu boy it's over and it's cause of YOU

I think about this show every single day
It's been months since I watched Lovely Runner and I cannot stop thinking about it. Every drama or romance I watch, I immediately start comparing it to this show and nothing comes close 😭 help.I dropped this show after watching 2 episodes the first time. It was cringe over the top and I don't like cringe. But my friend made me hear a song from the ost "Spring Snow" and I was absolutely smitten- It was so cute and the lyrics were so comforting.
So I listened to her and gave this show another try. And I am so thankful for that.
As I said, this is the best romance I have ever watched. The stealing glances at each other, not knowing how to behave around the other person, stuttering and stumbling over your words- it was so cute that I actually blushed- Like my face actually really turned red as a tomato. And it wasn't even overtly spicy- It was the little things. The way they looked at each other. Their history- It's just THE STANDARD. 😩🤌🏼✨
And then Spring Snow did not even end up being my favorite song! There's this sort-of-flashback scene during (ifykyk 💜) which 'I think I did' by Kim Hyung Joong plays and that hands down is one of the best things I have ever watched in my entire life. The cinematography? The story? The way that scene was built up? Immaculate- perfection- Oscar.
I literally think about that scene EVERY SINGLE DAY. It just touched me in a way i did not think what was supposed to be a lighthearted romance drama could. I still have goosebumps ever time I watch that scene. Truly the best scene in a romance drama I have EVER seen.
The way Sunjae and Sol always put the other person before themselves is so touching. Their love is never grand confessions or swooning kisses but the way they put everything away for the other person. I have no words. 🥲
I will say that the plot is not as strong but that is not the point and the romance compensated more than enough!!! I will never get over this drama truly. 🫠😭💕

Oh my god if you love deliciously delicious angst with lots of political intrigue, two strong leads fighting evil together and high stakes forbidden romance you HAVE TO WATCH this. 😆The premise already it's so angsty. Like he might have been the one who sabotaged you to lose a competition which will literally determine the life of your people and made you into a traitor?? ANGST. Youre poisoned and he might be the only one with the antidote???? ANGSTTTT. Also he doesn't know that you're secretly a woman and he is a suspicious of everyone playboy??? More angst! Angst fest, angst feast might I say. SO DELICIOUSSSSS 😫🤌🏼✨
This is just the perfect recipie for so many knife to the throat scenes and I was not disappointed. It was better infact.
I cant spoil anything because I would be taking away the absolute EXPERIENCE that this drama is but the ✨tension✨, the ✨hurt✨ the ✨longing✨ the ✨yearning✨ the ✨✨✨✨two strong warriors fighting evil together?????✨✨✨✨✨ Ugh UGHHH
You have to like I CANNOT even tell you a smidgen more it was so good!!
