I thought Wu Ying resembles Tian Huo from Moonlight Mystique so much. Looked it up and I'm delighted to know Zhang Xin is also playing the badass girlie with the side-swept bangs here loll
yes. I honestly wasn't expecting much since I just stumbled upon this on the new releases category on Netflix but it was a pleasant surprise that it got interesting as the plot progressed. I found myself binging it in 3 consecutive days loll. this is xianxia btw! so give it time for the plot to marinate, pause if you must, since patience is key 'til, I think, ep 5-6, so hang on!!
She is so beautiful and noble in Guardians of The Dafeng!!!!
We share the same sentiments!! She is so, so ethereal in that, even almost otherworldly! Even more so in the current LOTFG. I think the LOTFG team did well with her styling in the drama the best since she looks too gorgeous in all her scenes!
First saw her in GOTD since she was such a scene-stealer. She was servinggg looks all throughout her scenes in LOTFG that I couldn't look away once she's on screen.
Looked her up, then met with news that she had to apologize for being 'ugly' in Sword and Fairy 4 "after netizens criticised her for her incompatibility to play Liu Mengli," which is truly appalling given her beauty. Hopefully, she's well and didn't have to suffer so much just to live up to C-nets' criticisms of her, since it seems she lost a lot of weight comparing her in LOTFG to her photo stills in Sword and Fairy 4 :((
In their definition of beauty, if someone as ethereal as her is ugly, I must be an ogre lol.

Its that he meant that he wanted him to be related to him personally by blood.. Also its not his nephew its his…
Honestly, itâs one of the few things that still feels unresolved to me. If Yanli Khan meant that, it feels kind of biased, especially because She'er himself has blood ties with the Central Plains through Princess Yichen of the Sui Dynasty. Even if he adopted AâSun, he had already been his son for far too long. He literally raised and personally taught both him and Sheâer since they were kids, so it would be disappointing if his reasoning would have boil down to simply preferring his own blood to inherit the Khan title.
Historically speakingâwhich the drama clearly leans into, since itâs based on real people, events, and placesâthe Khan title was earned, not inherited. It was decided by other tribe leaders because the role was meant for someone who truly deserved it. It wasnât like the Tang Dynastyâs imperial system with a fixed heir to the throne. And based on character alone, AâSun honestly had every right to be the next Khan if he had wanted it. He was better than his cousin Sheâer in pretty much every aspect, even though She'er was the Young Khan because of his late father (the former Khan before Yanli Khan/Ashile Chuobi).
Lastly, just to clarify in case it wasnât clear: I was asking about both: his nephew, Sheâer (the one with black hair, son of Princess Yichen), and AâSun, our main lead. Anyways, thank you for replying though!!

We're on the same page on this! It is unbearable to watch unnecessary subplots making it to the final cut while the ones that are truly essential to build the story just vanish into thin air... I sometimes drop or watch them at 2-3x speed if ever loll

I saw a melon post saying season threeâs coming out in summer 2026 :(( so I guess Iâll be waiting a while. Anyway, thank you for this!! I love flawed main leads since those perfectly polished ones feel way too superficial to me. Characters with flaws just make the best kind of development, and itâs always way more rewarding to watch their growth unfold alongside the plot.

I agree with all these points after finishing the series and I also had some questions left unanswered, especially since the ending was also quite rushed for me.
My faves also include Love Like the Galaxy and the Double (but I stopped four episodes before the end since I got spoiled about the endingđ„Č). I have yet to watch Joy of Life, Rebel Princess, & Nirvana in Fire though but I have seen good reviews about them. Which of the three do you suggest to watch first?
