Tan Songyun is amazing! Two dramas this year, one currently the highest-rated on CCTV-8, and the other the fastest…
POJ took 6 days. This drama still has more potential.

Each episode has its own event and its own level of intensity, almost like a little story on its own. So even though the main plot moves slowly, it doesn’t feel like it’s dragging. None of it is filler — every episode actually connects to the story.

I want some of those chrysanthemum flowers. I didn’t realize that when they’re fresh, they look so much like daisies, because once they dry, they puff up. The petals are actually way prettier. When I paused the frame for the close‑up, they stopped reminding me of daisies entirely. I’m naturally drawn to white daisies, but these are on a whole different level. It’s such a beautiful flower.

https://x.com/czhouye/status/2099732953421262940These cute and cunning couple are push and pull towards each other,…
The vibe is similar to early‑1800s teasing, like Pride and Prejudice, sweet on the surface, sharp underneath. They’re equals in wit.

He's basically saying that I wouldn’t trust you not to kill me, but I’ll still flirt with you. Calling her charms "sugar-coated poison" is a massive compliment in their twisted world. He is admitting that she is highly dangerous yet completely intoxicating. He is willing to play her game because she is the only person smart enough to truly captivate him.

This drama is slice of life, so it may feel repetitive but the scenes or plots are not exactly the same. Just…
I enjoy the littlest details in historical period dramas that are well made like this one.

Listening her adopted parents thinking about her all the time, do they ever show them thinking about their own daughter who died.

It would be so nice to see her land a FL role. She could definitely pull it off with enough weight, power, charisma.…
she needs a magazine cover!

After a long time im seeing alot of eps. Will have to wait until it ends i guess 😪 Any new recommendations…
If you like tragedy, watch Eight Hundred, it's only 20 episodes. It's part of the Tencent Video's X Theater and only aired on Tencent, nowhere else. If you don't want to watch it all, just watch Ep, 20 for the outcome. The drama had literally zero promotion and it still reached 24K heat on Tencent. Weeks after it aired, Jiangsu TV picked it up and same day, it climbed to #8 on CVB against CCTV dramas, by word of mouth alone, quickly moved up to #3 topped by CCTV dramas, even though most knew the tragic ending, they still watched it. If you like crime, thriller, mystery, family, and human tragedy. The opening Douban 6.9. On MDL, there are no bad reviews, all excellent.

It's like a disclaimer. Audiences do their research. They know what is what and if a production makes any mistakes…
Do you see a disclaimer in every historical intro so explicitly stated? that's why it caught my attention, Also, most international viewers just accept it as that's how it was in ancient China.

The introduction explicitly reminds viewers “This drama does not correspond to any real historical dynasty… elements have been adapted,” so there’s no point arguing whether anything “actually happened that way.” It could all be exaggerated or invented.

Because an Asian 24‑year‑old actor wouldn’t have the range or maturity to pull off the performance the way…
I think if they pick someone younger like 24, it will make the FL look older, due to the contrast

"She can't read; it's her family that won't let her study, not feudal society. The maid who could read beside her had been with her since she was 10 years old. She didn't know exactly how many years, but at least six years. In those six years, she never thought about learning to read from a maid. What was there to complain about the times? It wasn't society that forced her not to learn. The opportunity was given to her, but she didn't seize it. Who else could she blame? For the past six years, she has managed the household in the male lead's household, essentially a one-man dictatorship. If she really wanted to learn to read, who could stop her? Her mother-in-law was probably the first to refuse." - Douban

interpretation: She’s not illiterate because of “the era.” She’s illiterate because her own family blocked her education and she never tried to learn even when she had chances.

never been able to picture Xu Kai in another drama after watching falling into your smile (my first cdrama) 😭💔
I can't blame you. Who can replace Lu Si Cheng? I feel the same with every character. I can't imagine who else can replace it. I can't even figure out which character I like better, When I go back to rewatch, I keep changing my mind. There are some I like better but there are many I can't decide.

Not a huge fan of the new poster. Don't they have better ones?
I thought the same at a glance, but if you zoom in and take a closer look, it's really pretty
