I can't take any reviews seriously that give this drama a score below a 7 for acting, even below an 8 seems ridiculous when compared to similar types of dramas.
ABAY reaching 1.9B in a month from 7/2 to 8/1 exceeded a lot of other hot dramas. Blossoms in Adversity is one of the biggest hits in 2024 and it reached 1.468B in a month from 4/2 to 5/3. The Double another huge hit reached 1.5B in a month from 6/2 to 7/3. JOL S2 possibly the hottest drama of 2024 reached 1.2B in 14 days from 5/16 to 5/29. It took ABAY 18 days from 7/2 to 7/19 to reach 1.2B which is only 4 days more. But BIA and JOL has continued to cumulate billions more in views. Another hot drama is Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty and it reached 1B in 17 days from 7/18 to 8/3 but its schedule is one week faster and has 43 episodes. Will ABAY be able to continue to accumulate billions more views before the end of 2024?

I'm rewatching ABAY slowly. So glad JX quit her job. Her boss is a total jerk making her do all the brain work so he can get credit. Office gossips and no one supported her. She put much with so much unfair treatment just so she can get a bonus to pay for a flat with Yichen. The big boss ZD is a jerk too. They play politics, dump on her, and piled on her. It's interesting to go back to the earlier episodes and see how much she has changed. Back then the way they intimidated her, and she is so helpless. What an amazing journey she had in this story.
I hope he'll get tons of CEO roles moving forward and be a lot more popular!!!
In his recent interviews, XK says he has no plans to play CEO again. He says he wants to change field. Not sure what he means by "real estate agent". Actors risk getting typecast if they play the same roles. XK just happened to have two CEO back-to-back. Go Princess Go is the same director. The Double is really his second drama and first serious work. I'm really surprised how little credit this director is getting here for this work. The Double has a style unlike any other costume drama. The director borders on eccentric and likes sadistic themes. He likes to shock, captivate, and hook his audiences with every episode. That's why audience finds it addictive to watch. He is an artist at heart and art is subjective which can be polarizing to audience. Most are too used to standard costume dramas that they found the ending confusing.
It is common when a company merge that you retain talent and give the founder a VP position like what they offered JX an R&D department of her own.

JX is a complex. She has weaknesses and strengths. She was a big help to HT in his recovery. The kidnapping was not her fault. It was the result of HT's ruthlessness. After HT's injury, she really stepped up and handled things well for him. She took good care of HT the rest of his life. He was very happy man. Yes, she's emotional and impulsive and made mistakes and did things she shouldn't have done like breaking into his safe, but HT said she has qualities he didn't have; otherwise, he does not waste his time on her. HT knows that she's emotional and impulsive. In the rain scene, she was mad at the taxicab driver and made him stop so she got out and into the rain. HT came by with umbrella and asked her to get into his car. Then he said to her, "you haven't' changed in ten years." There was another scene he said, "you wear your emotions on your sleeve." or when he gave her that expensive painting, he said "you see the messy lines, it's like your thinking." The fascination with this story is why HT likes JX so much. She's so different from him.
I think ep 31, JX was rather cruel with her words and hurt HT mercilessly because she was hurting and lashing out. The more he talked, the more painful it became for her. The way ep 31 blew up is so real life when people aren't communicating. Yes, HT's words are rational and true, but I don't think that's not what JT wanted to talk about. They weren't communicating.
