well. in real life, it is often the critical illness that can either draw family together or tear them apart, cause people to reflect and draw out their regrets and guilt, and in real life, some families are torn apart in these stressful events. In this drama, the characters are relatable but not the smooth uneventful resolutions in their work and personal lives, where everything works out in their favor. The one event that is realistic is YZM dad died before YZM can have a second chance, that is usually the case in life, as example, we get busy don't visit family, father dies, never see him again.

There really is no plot with the Zhang character

the mother grew up poor so she's always concern about costs

a wedding scene and even a proposal would distract from the main story (mother daughter finally understand each other) that is why there is none. Now that I've watched the entire drama, I finally figured out what was important or not important to the story because the drama takes many episodes later before revealing. There are a lot of great scenes and great lines and I agree with the message about prioritizing family over everything else. At the beginning of the drama, I thought the mother daughter were very close, intimate, and loving, but late in the second half of the drama, I suddenly realized they're really not that intimate and so they didn't understand each other. MCH said it was always a "love/hate" relationship with her mother. Only after the mother gets sick, does she visit her mother's hometown and learn about her mother and understand her better.

It makes sense to me that YZM and MCH are not thinking about marriage yet. These two are emphasizing career over marriage for now.

I recall in ep. 1, MCH mom told her no sex before marriage, and her mom/dad lives with them, so they really ought to get marry soon, so YZM can move into master bedroom with her. They should buy a bigger newer house, so Mrs. Liu doesn't keep hearing noises above her.

I thought there was a plot with Zhang and maybe a merger since the hotel had financial problems, but it all turned out to be nothing. All the problems in life are solved on their own. The people who treated others badly has paralysis or died. After a cancer scare, the mom finally changes. YZM and MCH do collaborate on a new hotel together and MCH is not in a rush to get marry.

There are 200M single women in China today and 70M more men than women. MCH is lucky to have YZM because she would not be able to marry down, and usually by mid 30's, will be harder to marry.

I'm not sure I agree with MCH to her mom "tear off her title as mom and be herself". I know what she means, for her to no longer worry, but a mom will always be a mom until she dies, she will always tell you to make sure eat, dress warm, etc. No mother ever stops worrying.

I love the opera act in the last episode. It must be her real voice too.

Ok I figured out why the YZM's father had to died. By his death, it allowed YZM to figure out that he was wrong too, and also to deepen his bond to the Mai family. This is a family drama, so it makes sense that they want to show how family comfort each other in times of distress, but I'm still sad for his story, although it's apparently not important.

YZM just turned 32 in ep 33

For me, I feel the intensity between them. I understand the characters background, personality, and their psychology based on what the script reveals about them. This then helps me to understand their expressions, body language, actions, etc. why she tends to resist and push him away and why he tends to pursue and pull her in; ultimately, he wins her over. The chemistry between them was a tug-of-war of hearts, a delicate balance between resistance and attraction. Their dynamics creates tension and compelling chemistry between them. I think the way Jing Tian expressions is perfect to create his push and pull tension. The scene of the morning after they consummated their marriage, the way she acted toward him like she could care less but he's the opposite, Jing Tian the way she acts and her expressions are perfect because you know Cui Lin doesn't mean it, but she is teasing poor Li Ni who doesn't know how to handle it.

did you see the scene after the foot bath, the next morning, what did you think of the way he was smiling? It reminded me a little bit of the scene in WoL, the morning after.

He's supposed to be naked underneath in the drama. I saw a comment that says this is a clue that YZM and MCH has "done it". You can tell from their interactions in this scene. There was another earlier scene after the foot bath, they "did it" and next morning, look at his face. This is a family show so the clues are very subtle.

MCH's Mother: "I only accept the son-in-law who can live in my house"
YZM: "That's what I ask for"
MCH's Mother is at a loss for words has to sit down

Another reason to have a daughter is that when you get old, your daughter will take care of you, not your daughter-in-law. Mothers don't get along with daughters-in-law.
