So I gathered Chen Hui isn’t a classic madman villain chasing revenge, power, or lust. He’s a youth crushed by pressure, trapped by his environment, and pulled into a spiral he can’t escape. He’s someone who is deliberate, knows exactly what he’s doing but chooses dark path he cannot escape. Will the story make his tragedy one audience can sympathize with of condemn him?

I’m unable to watch this drama but for now I watched first two episodes with no sound or no English subtitles. I have no idea what is going on in the story but from what I can tell it’s sure fast pace, full of action and very tense young man who looks like world is collapsing but when he looks at his girl he puts on a courageous and reassuring face. It feels like this could have been a 30 episode drama but they packed it fast and tight. Hopefully that won’t affect emotional outcome. I need to rewatch that scene of him playing Chinese chess with the old man again because every character Xu Kai creates comes with its unique set of traits. It’s great for Xu Kai to pair up with this talented young actress. She kind of reminds me of the talented Zhou Dong Yu.

Your comment reminded me of a really tense drama I watched long time ago starring amazing actor Denzel Washington His son is dying and needs a transplant and the wife says do something so he holds up the hospital with gun and hostages but in the end his son got transplant and lived but he goes to prison and he said he’d do it all over again to save his son.

Xu Kai is an actor who has repeatedly shown that when he’s given a compelling character, he doesn’t need a lot of screen time for his presence to be felt. Even when the story was not centered on his character, he managed to make it feel like the story was about his character. Well In this drama, the story does revolve around his character, the emotional core depends on his character, so even with limited screen time, he essentially has to carry the weight of the story. I’m not saying he’s the best actor in the cast—there are many talented actors here—but the psychological depth of his character has to come through for the story to have real meaning. His character is the key to the narrative, while other characters may have more screen time to establish the world and context of the story. This is a team effort drama not all one actor

Why would 1% be bothersome? Are you expecting 100% which is unrealistic? That’s like saying everyone should have the same likes. Isn’t 1% less than an error rate? It’s like saying no one should dislike this drama isn’t that as extreme as the 1%

It’s true for any cdrama. How can non Chinese person fully grasp it although they can still enjoy what they enjoy out of it. Maybe that’s why MDL ratings are skewed toward higher end.

Of the cast Xu Kai is an actor who is trying out something new in acting.

I think this kind of shorter drama and intense story is best to binge on it because so much happening. I think it is a drama definitely rewatch worthy

Just don’t download anything but it’s still good to be cautious. I made mistake of downloading their ad blocker and I later i discovered a Trojan virus on my pc. They hide in files.

Did you see currently watching is 7.76. Verified 7.13. MDL will not be kind to this drama. As long as they see slightest negativity they play to it it until it becomes reality. They not going to keep it at 8.3 until end like some drama that 8.3 all the way then drops at end. They benefit during airing. If they drop it during airing will influence viewers. Ratings is not what’s important here for Xu Kai. It’s what he’s trying to do step by step towards his goals and having to navigate professionally with his agency. He didn’t take on this for win or loss or for popularity or ratings or awards

You Tube is great if you don’t need English subtitles. I know someone who can usually find dramas on you tube while airing or so he says, but he doesn’t need Eng subtitles as long as there’s Chinese subtitles because he doesn’t understand Manarin but Chinese subtitles are better than English in terms of true meaning, he says. Chinese characters are the same
meaning whether you speak Cantonese or Mandarin or any dialects. The only differences are things local or slang a person may not be familiar with meaning
