I just finished episode 15, and I don't understand the FL's behaviour. Let's break it down. Her army betrayed…
Why are you so angry? It's just a movie. Did you see episode 15 what she said to Taozi:
Taozi: Li wronged you without knowing the truth.
Cui Lin: It's our army's fault to let them lost the Pass and more than half their men.
THAT WAS THE TRUTH. I wouldn't have kept calm either if I were in his shoes
but I'd believed he trust me.

Cui Lin: You didn't have to save me. If I'd died with Mister, your anger would've been vented. Don't you people want to kill me and Taozi for revenge? Why don't you kill me instead of pretending to save me?
Li Ni: I figured out the truth about Tong Pass. You didn't' know. Therefore, I wronged you. I should have trusted you, but it happened abruptly. We lost so many men. I lost my mind.

Episode 16 she said to Taozi: I shouldn't be mad at him. If he were someone else, I wouldn't be so mad. HOWEVER, HE IS NOT ANYONE ELSE.

Episodes 15 &16 are among my favorite episodes, might be the top? but I won't know until I finished the movie (still stuck at episode 30) and have a chance to rewatch it properly.
The acting or interactions between Xu Kai and Jing Tian are superb in 15&16. Xu Kai's expressions are so realistic to me. He does not overact one bit. How can he be so realistic in his expressions without looking like he's acting or trying to act, yet his approach is so subtle and soft, when you look at his face, you know exactly what feelings he is trying to convey.

Most of us who watch this drama since it started love this couple chemistry, you're the few who said otherwise.…
There was also the scene right after Li Ni falsely accused her of betraying his army that she was concerned for Li Ni and told Taozi that if it were the other way around, she would have reacted worse than he did (something like that). After the ambush, she was overcome with grief and other emotions, basically having a breakdown (Li Ni held her captive so all she does is deep in grief all day long staying indoors). The fact that Li Ni understood her emotions so well and compassionately and lovingly helped to navigate her out of her breakdown was beautiful and I will rewatch those two episodes that represent the best in humanity through Li Ni. To me, those two episodes were brilliant display of human emotions and compassion.

It depends on your perspective. In my view, both ML and FL love each other equally. I do see a few people having…
Neither does the FL give in to her values. She is willing to give up the only man she could ever love for doing what she thinks is right for the people to have a better life. She has high ambitions and high aspirations, a true heroine. No wonder Li Ni loves only her.

I have a problem. I'm so tired these days so I just want to watch light stories to relax. I'm watching this movie…
gosh, how will you ever understand their chats if you don't know the conflicts they have to go through together? If you search YouTube, you might find one of those videos where they put all the ml and fl scenes into one video.

Is FL's love weaker than ML...I usually connect less with the dramas where ML sacrifice more and love more but…
ML is in love. He loves FL for exactly who she is. In his eyes, she's perfect. But if you don't like her character, then you might think he is suffering, but through Li Ni lens, she is the only girl he can ever love. They are very honest and frank with each other about everything, true soul mates.

Cui Lin personality is less trusting and more guarded than Li Ni. That may be why some view her as unresponsive to ml.

His acting is great. It's not easy to play a comedian without acting like a comedian
every time the emperor comes on, I feel entertained, especially when his empress and him. her acting is great too, she is like his side kick in a comedy act. Honestly, they could make an entire movie but different one that is comedy with these four actors, emperor, brothers, and empress. they have chemistry.

Li Ni father is a misled and misguided man who is not smart enough to think for himself.

It's a good drama, but not at an excellent level. SML and SFL are always delusional-type characters. Despite too…
Li Ni love for Cui Lin is like Romeo's love for Juliet, a story of love, tragedy, human condition, individuality and family expectations (Li versus Cui as in Montague versus Capulet) where the two must reconcile their love with the social and political structures that govern their lives and a message that love is a powerful force that can bring people together but can also lead to tragedy. The human condition is viewed through the many different and complex relationship dynamics. In WoL, love conquers all.

Lacking in chemistry and real frustration with this script over and over again. Nicely acted by mosr of the cast.…
Your review is full of contradictions: "Nicely acted" but lacks chemistry and fl lacks emotion, "Fantastic drama" but skipped never-ending episodes and frustrating script. "XK did great" even if it wasn't him, "Great drama" but boring and waste of time.

Not watching, but I'm happy to see Liu Shishi on screen again.
I find it fascinating to watch the female lead expressive performance. Her ability to convey emotions through her eyes is particularly captivating. Her expressiveness is so immersive that I will turn off the sound to fully appreciate it. She has a goddess aura about her. She is beautiful and very graceful. There was a scene where she let out this emotional cry that was so beautifully done. I never heard a cry so heart wrenching yet beautiful. It was short and sudden and like her soul opened up for a moment and you could feel the sudden burst of anguish from her soul.

The perception that she is selfish and spoiled overlooks her resilience and determination. She faced greater challenges than most men, striving to prove her worth. While she may not match men in physical strength, her resourcefulness and reliance on her intellect are commendable.

These scenes of Li Ni relentlessly pursuing his brother evoke memories of his youth, a time when they incessantly troubled him, placed blame upon his shoulders, and subjected him to his father’s wrath.

So, it was not Cui Lin who forced Li Ni into becoming Crown Prince, it was her father, Cui Yi, upon his military achievements, seized the opportunity to recommended him to the court. All the negative comments about Cui Lin convinced me that she was manipulative, but after watching up to episode 29, I don't see where she ever manipulated him at all. Even though she made it clear to him he should be crown prince, but she has always respected his decision. Events unfold that are out of her control. So, it looks like another misunderstanding between Li Ni and Cui Lin.

The beginning of the episode 29, they rode together to Wonderland for a romantic date.
There is so much packed in that scene. Obviously from their chat, the script writer likes to let audience know something is coming up that could tear them apart forever. Ying asks if he could ever stop loving her, if in the future, she did something to make him really mad. As Li Ni departs, he tells her to take care of herself in the coming days and says goodbye.
I didn't expect Li Ni to take out a straw doll of Cui Ling - so adorable. That was quite a pleasant surprise. This movie is for the young at heart.

I checked the episode guide, and the number of rater haven't changed much, not many rate the later eps compare…
WoL wholesome, fairytale-like, and light-hearted style may not be as popular in today's culture (I'm guessing). Additionally, the script, excessively clear and laden with foreshadowing from episode to episode, ultimately led to less climactic and more predictable plot.

For me, the allure lay in the exquisite craftsmanship of the film—a delightful, heartwarming creation adorned with enchanting vignettes, tender love, intricate human connections, emotional turmoil, and poignant struggles. For me, this cinematic gem resonated profoundly. The exploration of the human condition, the fragility of existence, the indelible impact of our past, and the divergent perspectives between genders—all woven into the fabric of this movie—provoked deep contemplation. It illuminated the delicate balance between personal triumphs and tragedies and showcased the very best of humanity through the lens of Li Ni. If only the world could embrace such emotional intelligence, compassion, and understanding, it would undoubtedly be a more compassionate and harmonious place.

Negative comments can influence others' opinions and may have taken a toll on ratings:
Cui Lin: perceived as a b*tch character.
LCF: criticized for being overly delusional, and his acting is deemed forced.
Li Ni’s Father: portrayal seen as overly stupid.
Pacing Issues: some complain the movie dragging in the middle.
Xu Kai: negative criticisms of his past performances
(Imo, no other actor is more unfairly criticized than Xu Kai who seems to me just an honest, hardworking guy trying to improve himself)
Example, since JTL aired, fans have defended the ml by claiming that handsome actors cannot act—a stance similar to the haters they criticize.

Everyone’s perspective on a movie is subjective, biased, influenced by personal experiences, preferences, and their sense of what is good or bad, beautiful or ugly.

In today’s culture, themes that lean toward the darker, more explicit, graphic, shocking, and sensational resonate with audiences. These narratives often embrace moral ambiguity. Wholesome tales, while cherished by some, simply don’t appeal to everyone’s taste.
