Real studies have shown that first ratings everyone sees influence the ones that come later. MDL should not be putting up a score, especially on day 1, until the drama is done airing. MDL knows this, that's why I think they do it on purpose.

Unless you are popular or have some clout or backing, it's hard to get leading roles. Many supporting actors are very good actors, but they don't get leading roles. If you don't get the right role or limited role, how can you break through?

SEL is a good drama; however, the chemistry between the leads is not exceptional, but the chemistry of Dong Bo Xue Ying to his Master was and had an emotional ending. The martial arts are fun to watch. I like the story too. Plenty of lines in the script I found profound and quotable from general perspective. So, if you are looking for great romance story and chemistry, it may disappoint you; however, the story although has romance, is not really that focused on romance, but more cultivation and wuxia. It has over 9 rating on Viki.

I love his scenes in RF. One of my favorite scenes is when they were in the war camp and he served tea to Zhu Zhanji. I think he tried to poison him. The scene was so emotional. He really made an impact on the show, and always getting punished.

learning but just browsing around is how I came to this conclusion about Xu Kai. Traffic fans are super active on social media. There are strategies too I’m noticing. They are very focused on their actor or actress to keep trending constantly and the actor or actress too have to maintain trends. I think Xu Kai wants fans who are interested in his works not because he’s so cool and all over the place. He’s an interesting actor to follow. How long can he not intentionally drive traffic when he can if he wanted to. He relies on his performances to drive traffic.

I haven’t seen it but the quote reminds me what Xu Kai always tells fans that they have worked hard. He never shines the light on himself but his fans. Even his own journey he says “we” will do it step by step. He has never changed. He didn’t change himself for fans. It’s who he is.

In movies and dramas, the leading man naturally has a romantic storyline. What makes Xu Kai’s romance stand out is the emotion he brings. His performances feel romantic because they are tender, powerful, and deeply felt, long before any kiss happens.

I hope he gets more opportunities to mix it up. He should definitely still do romance-focused projects but also add projects that are not focus on a romantic relationship, rather stories that focus on other themes, and involve more action, but can have romance on the side, or none at all, pref on the side so at least there are some romance scenes. Best Choice Ever was not a romance focus drama for his character. That’s what made his performance in BCE exceptional that got him two awards. He got to show off how he connects with range of characters and situation.

For me when I look at his works, I see variety in each role even if it’s focus on a romantic relationship or female centric story. Each character feels unique and has different personality and story.

Being a popular idol or traffic actor offers amazing lucrative opportunities. Producers and brands want you. I think it’s great. You have to have certain talents, looks, and personality and desire to drive that kind of buzz, and it takes a lot of hard work to maintain it. To me, it’s not who Xu Kai is, yet the industry puts him in the same bucket because he’s a popular actor too, and he gets compared that way but he doesn’t have the promotions and buzz and fan driven traffic. People who attack him fill his silence for him with negative publicity. I noticed such a difference in a his birthday celebration. Some have concerts or big bash at some event with other celebrities. With Xu Kai, Alaso gave him a modest yet amazing drone show to celebrate his characters they love, like good friends giving you a surprise birthday party. I feel like Xu Kai move at his own pace, free from pressures of constantly maintaining traffic, even though he is compared that way.

Being a traffic actor is a whole ecosystem, not just a label. It’s work, strategy, and constant maintenance. I don’t see him deliberately or actively chasing traffic, yet he remains popular. Until three years ago, he was not a regular member of a variety show. It took hitting a milestone on heat index to see him do a little dance. That clip became top trending video but he was not trying to be cool, but he just had this natural charm just being himself. Nobody promoted it. It just trended on its own. Does Xu Kai even do livestreams anymore? I think I found a few from his early years especially on his birthday. He used to blow a kiss in the birthday video. He’s even more low key in recent years. It’s a good thing he has to do interviews

I think it reflects that Xu Kai is not an idol nor traffic celebrity so he doesn’t have that kind of organized fan base that rely on fan-driven metrics to sustain traffic visibility. His fan base is broad and grows organically.

You mean very cheap cast!!! Xu Kai probably got paid less then $30K for following the male lead around like an enunch. He didn’t really have a role in this drama. I don’t even consider it his first real role. He was some side character with no story, even guest roles have more of a story. Therefore the rating does not reflect on his performance. Actually I read Zhao Lusi performance drew attention to her.

When I think of this drama, I think of “Le You Yuan.” That’s the true meaning of this drama and the correct title It’s what the story is about from beginning to end. It’s a very sentimental story and I felt the youthfulness, charm, and passion of the leads.

Xu Kai masterfully delivers a restrained performance using subtle micro-expressions to reveal a volcano of internal passion beneath the composed, aloof exterior of his unmatched Taoist prodigy character, with a calculated spiritual restraint, while his eyes and subtle reactions betrayed an internal vulnerability to the beautiful vivacious female alpha Cat Lord who constantly challenges his composure. Xu Kai always plays range of characters, this has to be the most restraint. Mei ZhuYu is the ultimate Taoist who after his parents died wanted no pleasures from this world until Wu Zhen. His emotional scenes are masterful how he can stay restrained in character yet still pour out his emotions because it’s not exaggerated emotions but emotions written all over his face and his body language, the viewer can feel him.

Xu Kai Maine Coon eats all the time even finishing other cats food. Probably still not enough food.
