This is a great drama. A mature, slice of life and coming of age drama. Definitely refreshing from the other recent school-centered dramas that are much fluffier overall.
Obviously, there was an opportunity to do something completely out of the box (for Korean television) with the two male leads. All the pieces were there. Not just their amazing chemistry, but IN THE WRITING itself. Nonetheless, it was still a wonderful series.
Anyone know the name of that product Yeo Joon uses on his face, like under his eyes and stuff? He let Soo Hyun use it once too. I assume it's a product Park Ji Hoon endorses, but I don't know what it is. =)
i think you should read this https://www.soompi.com/article/1478083wpp/ji-soos-legal-reps-share-update-on-lawsuit-against-sexual-assault-accusations-accuser-admits-to-lying
They're not going to read it. People who judge someone else without even knowing all the facts never admit they might have been too fast to condemn someone . It's happened many times before in the Korean entertainment industry.
I'm both happy and sad about the news today. Happy that the accusations were false. But sad that someone would actually go that far as to make up lies to destroy someone else's life like that. Even more disgusting are the people who rush to judgement without knowing all the facts AND refusing to admit they were wrong to jump the gun even after knowing more information.
I'm just hoping Ji Soo has good support around him, that he is healthy (especially emotionally) and he has learned from any mistakes he's made in the past. Just hoping for peace for him and anyone else involved.
This drama is a tribute to the victims of Gwangju Uprising and to those people who lost their loved ones at that…
^^^THIS VERY MUCH. A lot of the comments here really gloss over the fact that the series is about the Gwangju Uprising and how it affected the lives of the people of that time. Comments about how characters should've done this or ended up like that. Umm... this is literally a realistic and historically-based story. People lived and died just as it was depicted here. And this is only just one of thousands of stories about Korea in May 1980.
It was sad ending from the start Tho it was predicted by fans that the skeleton would be of the main leads not…
The "old bum" being the soldier Kyung Soo was so emotional and really perfect. I wish they actually gave him more to do during the series to represent the soldiers who obviously didn't agree with what they were being ordered to do. And the obvious trauma that they might still live with today.
Can someone tell me the ending please? i won't watch the rest, sounds too heavy for me
The female lead dies while saving her little brother from the soldiers. Sadly, her body is not found until it gets dug up at a construction site in 2021.
Really a breathtaking series. A beautiful, heartbreaking look at one of Korea's darkest periods with great characters and an amazing cast. Baeksang 2022 gonna come calling for Youth of May.
I really only cared about Chan Young's story. The idea of feeling like a "replacement"/"stand-in" and inadequate is a very relatable feeling and I thought his character got the most actual development through the course of the series. Lee Seo Won was also great in the role. Everything else was just meh and romance angle was very flat.
It was an okay drama. 8 eps is perfect for it. But I was honestly more interested in the secondary couple Woo Jae/Jae Yi than the main couple and whole mystery about her past. Also Byungchan was a scene stealer was Yoo Shin. But otherwise, an overly familiar story with nothing really new to offer.
Can someone explain how Ae Gyo lived as Su Ryeon? Or what that situation is supposed to be? I don't get it. SR has always been with DT since he took her back to Korea. So when has AG supposed to have lived as SR? Some dialogue makes it seem like AG has lived as SR for years.
Yukjo is such an irrelevant character. And the fact that...
Sun Oh has to ~settle~ for her in the end after coming to terms with Jojo choosing Hye Young when not once did he show that he has any feelings for her is the worst thing they did to his character. And it also says a lot about her how she essentially stuck to him like a leech when she knew he didn't like her.
