I'm watching episode 8 again (for the hundredth time!) and once again I notice how charming Sol is. Especially when she talks about the s-night lmao. It's obvious that Sun Jae couldn't take his eyes off her and literally pounced on her. She is just so irresistible 🥰 And I just have to mention how great Sol's mother is - she totally supports her daughter's love life and doesn't pester her about why she isn't married at 34. 🤌

Your argument doesn't apply to Lovely Runner since both actors are not well-known. I was not familiar with Byeon Woo Seok and Kim Hye Yoon before and started the drama without any expectations. Of course both are good looking but well that can be also said about Million other korean actors.
This drama has simply an outstanding performance by the whole cast and crew. And that's why the rating is so high.

I've watched three episodes and my impression so far: what an interesting drama with an unique atmosphere. I've never watched any Kdrama like this before, this is for sure not you standard romcom Korean drama, a bit above for the average viewer... Might explain the low rating.
