Both of them are so much better than this drama. It's a shame this is your first drama for them. For Dylan I would recommend Love Between Fairy and Devil. He really shines in that one.
For a much better Bai Lu rom-com I would recommend Love is Sweet. Her and Luo Yunxi have incredible chemistry. Their other drama together Till the end of the moon is amazing too. I often refer to it as a masterpiece., albeit a flawed one. Though she really does have countless good dramas.

The DVD version is longer, there are a number of scenes that have been cut out of the TV version. In total it will be about 2 episodes of content cut. The DVD version will run for 36 episodes instead of 34.

I think it depends on what country you're in. In Australia I dont think many parents are scouting when their babies are only 2 months old. They might have an idea of where they might send them based on where they live but it wouldnt be unusual to just be enjoying and adjusting to life with their newborns. (There would be a kind of symmetry and balance to that, as he also looked for her for 500 years) In the OG script for the drama, they actually did have him return at the end and they met him at the river.
In the novel, it takes 1,000 years for him to be reborn, so I think, for those who want to look at the optimistic side of the open ending, that's what they were hinting at. At least the possibility of it. As you said, his goodness allowed the purified part of his essence to be saved by the scale.

Well I think dubbing in general in C-Drama is okay most of the time. Even in this one. And getting better as more actors start dubbing themselves (like Luo Yunxi)
The issue with this drama is the other languages. You have actors who are clearly non-French speaking people and a few foreign actors who are probably not Chinese speaking people. They do their best to mouth the words to the best of their ability, but they're definitely not fluent in it - so it's never going to be able to match the voices of the people doing the French overdub. It doesn't help that there is an obvious difference between the voices.
