Title Yellow Boots
It would have been better if Kang Wook didn't die... Jang Min Ja would have died instead
Late reply, as I've seen this before but I never said anything back.
But I want to ask if you are watching/keeping up with Second Husband since you put it in the Recommendations page? I just came back to write a new comment comparing the 2 since they have some similarities in plots. Which drama do you think is better and in what ways?

The only good thing about that episode extension is that it will keep me entertained even longer while waiting for Love Twist to end so I can watch another makjang daily from that KBS2 channel 😌

Title Yellow Boots
Warning: do not look at my last spoiler comment as it includes ending spoilers.

I came back here since I am watching Second Husband (150 eps) and feel the need to compare the 2 again so far since they had some similarities of male lead leaving the naive FL for someone else, being framed for murder and the missing kid (even the Tae Yang name is similar). This might sound like a spoiler for SH but it did feel very suspicious how the annoying MIL took away a healthy baby out of convenience for her son to raise him.
The problem with SH is it relies/drags too much around the birth secrets and Seon Hwa confronting Jae Kyung all the time about what she's going to do next, thus giving her more chances to counterattack. Being chaebol all of a sudden doesn't seem like a true revenge because other people are helping her out more than herself actually doing anything. This is what Yellow Boots did better with their plot even with their similarities - more female lead VS. female villain scenes and FL actually showing growth, taking her opponent down without even having to become rich. Plus this one had more classic makjang vibes with better composed BGM - they had some really good ones that gave the drama an original vibe about it, especially the opening theme with a female voice in it but unfortunately never released them.

Second Husband is more of a "whose secret is going to be revealed next" type of show with lots of arguing/slapping faces/hair pulling scenes, hoping we'll stick around long enough just to see what happens next.. and eye candy/romance as a bonus (which more of the fans there are raving about than the actual plot), compared to in YB feels more like pen pals/platonic love.
It's a shame since SH did start out more exciting/original in the beginning eps when Moon Sang Hyuk was still cheating on her so I think SH could've had more potential like YB. I almost thought JK was going to be a different type of 2nd FL when she slapped MSH in the face for two timing but now she is just one of those stereotypical female villains again. The 2nd male leads here are more interesting to watch as well, as Soo Chul is just some loyal dog for Jae Kyung who we won't even care about him having a redemption arc. Yoon Jae was also more humane/less cartoonishly evil than Sang Hyuk who left Seon Hwa so easily despite being with her for 10 years and having a baby too, begging him multiple times to stay. She spent less time in jail than with YB, so this gives us more emotional impact with the FL reuniting with her lost son knowing he is alive out there somewhere.

If you are looking for a plot that is actually more about the justice/revenge plot then YB is for you, as the FL fights against corruption and higher authorities compared to Seon Hwa who is more of a passive character just making empty threats at her opponent and letting her get away a lot. But I may edit my comment again in case SH ends with a satisfying "justice is served" ending. I do enjoy SH though I would give it around a 8.5 while I rated YB a 9.5 (and I'm the type who rates things lower than others on MDL)

not as insane as this https://kisskh.at/4486-a-kindred-spirit πŸ˜‚ I think around 130 eps should've been…
Thanks for the info. That is crazy!
I am definitely never going to watch one of those, I'd lose my sanity trying to keep up with it πŸ₯΄
That's a great way to get paid for being an actor since the drama never ends...

Lol @ Adele blasting through the radio in the bakery today 🧐😝
Off topic but what do you think of the drama extension?
I have mixed feelings as I don't like the drama dragging out too much, ruining the quality of the show but at least it's keeping me entertained longer while waiting for Love Twist to end πŸ˜‚

It's a shame since it did start out more exciting/original in the beginning eps when MSH was still cheating on her so I think this one could've had more potential NGL. I almost thought JK was going to be a different type of 2nd FL when she slapped MSH in the face for two timing but now she is just one of those stereotypical female villains again. That was also a waste of a character. SC is also some loyal dog for her but do we even care about his character development anymore at this point?
Yoon Jae was also more humane/less cartoonishly evil than Sang Hyuk who left Seon Hwa so easily despite being with her for 10 years and having a baby too, begging him multiple times to stay. She also spent less time in jail than with YB, so this gives us less emotional impact compared to YB with the FL reuniting with her lost son knowing he is actually still alive somewhere.

I still give this at least a 8+ for the entertainment. I lost track of how many times people have slapped each other in the faces and pulled each other's hair πŸ˜‚

Tell me you are kidding, this is false information isn't it? BROO what, why do they need that much to resolve…
Looks like they need more eps for the bakery mom and HR revenge on the Chairman. Β―\_(ツ)_/Β―
maybe even possible misunderstanding between the main leads.

they are really pushing it this time with 150 eps even though it is a decent show addictive enough to continue but it already felt like it was draggy before with all that mystery/beating around the bush with the treasure box and HR hating on SH.. the episode count wouldn't have been that high if SH revealed her grandma to HR sooner.

I guess they need more eps for the final bakery mom arc and HR revenge on Chairman/JK. I hope this extension doesn't ruin the show like with TLE/The Penthouse. It better be a damn good ending to not waste our time since it started out good and most of us started watching this since last August.
This is about as long as Apgujeong Midnight Sun (149 eps) which has the second leads from Young Lady and Gentleman but they are the main leads there so YLG is like a reunion drama for them (although I didn't even feel motivated to watch either one despite enjoying their last makjang dailies - I prefer makjang over slice of life)

This is even longer than Shady Mom-in-Law with 123 eps which was the longest makjang daily I completed... or Ugly Alert with 133 eps but is a slice of life show (which I forced myself to finish halfway)

The only good thing about this extension is that it will keep me entertained even longer while waiting for Love Twist to end so I can watch another makjang daily from that KBS2 channel 😌

150....it will be the longest drama i watched...dear lord...
I'm surprised myself by the extension even though I've watched over a dozen dailies by now since 2019..
This is about as long as Apgujeong Midnight Sun (149 eps) which has the second leads from Young Lady and Gentleman but they are the main leads there.
But it's nothing compared to an old Hong Kong drama like "A Kindred Spirit" with 1128 eps. πŸ˜‚

only if you're a dedicated soldier who loves makjang πŸ˜‚
it's more like a looser version of Yellow Boots plot but with birth secrets to drag out the show. This is addicting though despite it being 150 eps now (I still can't believe it)
the main leads start out by arguing/bickering but he does become more of a nice supportive male lead later who ends up falling for her.

Be as good as this drama has been, I also thought extending it to 125 episodes would've been more than enough.…
exactly. The drama should be practically over now that HR knows everything. But I guess they need more eps for the final bakery mom arc and HR revenge on Chairman. I hope this extension doesn't ruin the show like with TLE/The Penthouse. It better be a damn good ending to not waste our time..
This is even longer than Shady Mom-in-Law with 123 eps which was the longest makjang daily I completed or Ugly Alert with 133 eps but is a slice of life show (which I forced myself to finish halfway since I prefer makjang instead but I quite liked the instrumental BGM/ED credits song in it) it's about as long as Apgujeong Midnight Sun (149 eps) which has the secondary leads from Young Lady and Gentleman as a reunion drama.
The only good thing about this extension is that it will keep me entertained even longer while waiting for Love Twist to end so I can watch another makjang daily from that KBS2 channel 😌

lol 8.1 is already generous but I agree. It must be the LMH fans. I actually like him maybe out of nostalgia for BOF/CH even though his acting is usually the same roles but I liked his last drama LOTBS better. He had more personality in that one.
I laughed at the cringy romance, it felt like a comedy πŸ˜‚

wait what why is it bumped up again 123 eps? They're really beating around the bush now. The drama is practically over after HR knows about everything. But we still need the bakery mom/daughter arc to happen.

She'll be devastated once finding out the truth about BSH and instantly forgive her for everything πŸ™„ but I kinda worry about this, I feel like she might die near the end trying to protect her from JK/SC killing her or something.. then none of the main leads will have a real mom anymore thus they are not "siblings" anymore. Maybe I am thinking too much, I feel like something emotional is going to happen near the end?!

But I wonder what they would do with this legally in the end - wouldn't one of them have to give up their family status to be with each other? Like dissolution of adoption on JM's part or Seon Hwa remaining "Bong Seon Hwa" instead of actually becoming "Bong Bit Na"
