Basically a long "sh*t straight people say to lesbians" movie that treats non-femme lesbians as men. (spoiler) There's also a completely unnecessary attempted rape scene by a stereotypically butch lesbian. (/spoiler) It's a mess
Thai rom-com movies are definitely more similar to Kdramas, people should start with them before they try Lakorns ^^ "Hello Stranger" is a good one to start with too (http://mydramalist.com/9889-hello-stranger)
*casually side-eyes certain people who take fiction too personally*...this sounds like an interesting drama, i'd like to see some reviews by non-misogynists if at all possible
Why Noonas must be always rude and unbearable!!..shouldn't they make up for the age gap with a personality that's…
I know what you mean, but how is it more natural for the man to be older though? It's a mere social construct, there's nothing that's inherently biological about it in any way.
Same thing with men playing jerks and being applauded for it. Female characters who are written as assertive or capable are being criticized and called "bitches", it's nothing but a double standard
I found this article just now btw, idk if you're interested because I understand you have different opinions http://feministkdramafeels.tumblr.com/post/74660866589/in-defense-of-unlikable-women-by-kameron-hurley

I don't know what makes you think they need to "make up" for the age gap, they don't need to compensate for anything.
Keep in mind that age hierarchies in Korean society involve a certain behavior, so the older ones will always be expected to be more assertive and controlling.
P.S. - It's funny how no one ever has this issue when an older male lead possesses those exact same traits.
I am watching this drama too and I agree with your review however I am finding the development of the story a…
It's because the format is significantly more cinematic in style than a typical Kdrama. The silent moments are meant to amplify the symbolism (which externalizes the psychology of the characters and their situation).
It's not necessarily everyone's cup of tea, but you could say the same for any art-house film - doesn't mean it's flawed.
although its the in thing or whatever. I find the noona romance weird. It feels like romancing your aunt or something.…
@Cinnamaroll Yup, exactly. There's a strong hierarchy between older and younger age in Korean society and it comes with a whole set of taboos that are problematic. It's always a good sign when there's more types of relationships on TV as it's an indication of progress.
Let's agree to disagree.
