Some random people on the internet calling the writer lazy and dumb has got to be funny yo me because she has…
I agree so much with you! I also think she has done a brilliant job at giving us a very 'realistic' storyline with actual substance. I also liked how she wrote characters with actual layers and depth in them, not like the typical ones. For example, SH having had a relationship too rather than solely devoting all his life into 'liking' SR alone. Plus, I love the actual pacing for both character development and romance. Like how every problem is being unfolded first before we get the actual leads together, because I honestly prefer it that they both get tgt at latter part of the drama than have them now only to break up later.

thank you, it’s getting ridiculous with all these theories. i think queen of tears did a huge number on people
ikr!! the theories even made me question if we were actually watching the same drama hahaha it's also misleading those who plans to watch LND

You’ve stated my exact thoughts, BSR is a character that likes to do everything herself and would not want to…
yes!!! I'm glad I am not the only one who sees her character this way! I think some people are failing to grasp her character so I wanted to share it here as I was able to relate to her.

Title Love Next Door Spoiler
With regards to the reoccurrence of Bae Seokryu's cancer and her having a limited time left, there currently had been no mention of it.

EP 8: Seokryu's conversation w/ the doctor
1:17:31 - 3 years ago she had surgery in the US
1:17:55 - she underwent surgery for her stomach cancer as she was diagnosed with stage 2 cancer
1:18:02 - 70% of her stomach was removed and she underwent chemotherapy afterwards

IMO, Her cancer has already been treated with the tumors removed so she is no longer in a terrible or worst state. They also did chemotherapy on her after the surgery which is usually done to kill/remove remaining cancerous cells that had metastasize to different areas in her stomach. Since a huge portion of her stomach has already been removed, her lifestyle can no longer be the same as those with a complete stomach. Meaning, there are certain foods that she is no longer allowed to consume and ofc, stress and overworking herself could also be added in the factors she should avoid. I just think that her recent stomach pain has something to do with her consuming 'popcorn' given that her ex had also warned her about it and how she's been under a lot of stress lately.

Let's be patient and wait until ep 9 or 10 if her cancer really reoccured or it was just a stomach pain before we actually put her to a 'death sentence'. However, I really doubt the writer would go towards such trajectory because the way I see it, her experiencing cancer before was merely just an addition to all the 'sufferings' which she had been through while trying to live a life full of her family's expectations, pressure and decision for her. I also think, the writer used this as a sort of 'eye opening' moment for her, piling it up with losing her job and relationship as the last straw so that she could come into a realization herself that 'oh, wait a minute this is wrong, this isn't how my life is supposed to be'. We've been shown since previous episodes even a flashback of her working w/ SH on a part-time job while studying just to purchase a brooch for her mother, how she apart from being a hardworking person, she values her family especially her mother. She definitely cares about being a 'filial daughter' to her family to the point she forgot about what she had truly wanted - her dream and had even been constantly neglecting herself. Thus, she came back to Korea with a completely new mindset and more determination, refusing to live in the same way. In addition, I think this will also be a very impactful 'eye-opener' for her family who had been constantly disregarding her opinions and feelings, once they learn about it. I honestly can't wait, specially for her mother to find out all about her sufferings.

There's a very realistic and touching line which Choi Seunghyo had told Bae Seokryu at episode 8:

"Parents aren't always right, they make mistakes with their children too. When you argue over it, you end up feeling guilty for no reason".

With how Bae Seokryu's character is, I see her as a type of person who is so selfless and would definitely by all means do everything in her power to carry it all. She literally is the 'eldest daughter'.

I also want to add this, during the cast guesting at salon drip they told us at 32:51 that LND will not solely focus on the romance but different aspects as well such as family and friendship. Then, Somin added how she loves the way the writer sees people as heartwarming and how she thinks that LND will comfort youth who are exhausted with life. To add more, during their live on melon, Haein spoiled about how it would be party onwards from ep 11. So yeah....

"Clarifications for EP 1: Seunghyo's Memorial Park Scene"

3:28 - Both Seokryu and Seunghyo's mom starts bragging about their childrens' achievements while hiking with their friends.
6:08 - The other mom tells Moeum's mother that Seunghyo is receiving another award on that same day.
6:18 - Shows the award venue and there is a big banner that says '2024 Magazine Awards'
9:27 - Seunghyo who was at the memorial park receives a call from Myeongu asking him where he was and telling him that the award ceremony is starting.
10:12 - Seunghyo arrives at the award ceremony wearing the same clothes he wore when he visited the memorial, he took off his necktie and gave it to Myeongu before he headed to the stage to receive his award.
11:29 - Seokryu's mom hands out the wedding invitation of her daughter to her friends.
16:39 - Myeongu tells Seunghyo that he could tell from the color of his suit that SH had visited another memorial park again.
18:29 - Seunghyo's car briefly passed by Moeum's car with Seokryu inside.
18:42 - Shows Seokryu and her fiancΓ©'s name on the wedding invitation card with May 23, 2024 written on the card which was placed at the passenger seat of Seunghyo's car.
27:03 - They both finally meet and Seunghyo was clearly wearing the same outfit.

This is me debunking the 'theory' about Choi Seunghyo's scene at the memorial park which was shown at the very first episode being a 'future scene' where it was said that he was visiting Bae Seokryu's grave when it has been clearly shown how that scene is from the 'present' and in the same timeline as Seokryu's return to Korea. TBH, I don't know how some people managed to overlook all these facts when it has been evidently shown at the very very start of the drama.

idk why people are overlooking this and I meant no offense, the funeral scene at the beginning is not a 'future…
Right, it is misleading those who haven't seen LND yet and makes me wonder if they even truly watched this drama to begin with, because how could they miss that when it was at the first ep!

obviously this will be a happy ending

I think the comments after the last two episodes are more negative and misleading than the episodes themselves.First,…
idk why people are overlooking this and I meant no offense, the funeral scene at the beginning is not a 'future scene' but rather the 'present scene'. Seunghyo was there simply to do a project and it was shown clearly how he ran to receive his award afterwards, like he and his coworker even had a conversation about him going to the funeral again, he literally wore the same outfit up to the moment he and Seokryu reunited again in front of his new office. Also, during the scene when their mothers were out hiking together, SH mother bragged about her son currently receiving an award, while SR mother was bragging about her daughter still in the US and was about to be married. Clearly, all of that happened in the 'present' timeline, to put it simply, Seokryu's return to Korea is at the same time when Seunghyo went to the funeral then to the award event. So, I actually find it ridiculous when I saw people making sudden theories saying he was visiting her funeral during that specific scene when it wasn't even a 'future scene'.

I am actually so glad that Jung Somin and Jung Haein are given characters such as Bae Seokryu and Choi Seunghyo who are both flawed in their own ways and with each having their own emotional baggage, plus how they also come from two different imperfect families. Their characters are so relatable and realistic. I honestly preferred this rather than the usual or typical romcom characters we get to see in most romcom dramas now a days, because with such they are able to bring more complex range of emotions and depth. Knowing how the two of them are very talented and skilled actors, the heavy scenes would definitely bring highlight on their performance so it makes me even more glad they didn't dull down their characters to focus only on romance and comedy alone. They also made the storyline tackle different life struggles which are often overlooked in real life, by such it would allow those of us who experiences such things to be able to empathize and connect well with each character, I also find a sense of comfort in this drama. IMO this drama is more than just the revelation of Seokryu's sickness alone, there is so much more to it, with the way the writer has been tackling these different life struggles ever since the beginning of the drama, I really doubt they would heavily focus on that, it would probably just be a part of the struggles which she overcame. There is definitely so much more in store and I am loving the pacing. How they are allowing us to really sit in all these emotional roller coaster ride and appreciate every aspect of it which I find meaningful.

If Bae Seok Ryu really is the queen of tears, then surely we should expect some hopefully-optimistic experimental…
I doubt they would go through such trajectory. This is after all a completely different drama from QOT. Plus, haein spoiled it himself that by ep 11 there would be party onwards.
