Although I am also a fan of Bai Lu, I don't necessarily agree with other fans concerns. In my opinion, having watched reuters and currently reading the novel I thought Bai Lu's costumes and styling are already fitting for her character as Ye Li. It does look simple but it is intentional and necessary in order to bring out accuracy to Ye Li as a character in the novel.

Besides she looked beautiful in them. I get if others want more extravagant styling but the setting and story of the drama needs to actually be taken into consideration because if they went over the top with her costumes and the setting is a mismatch then that would ruin an accurate delivery of the story. It won't be convincing but look rather ridiculous in viewers eyes. That is the last thing I would want.

The costumes are indeed a crucial detail in the drama and are essential, however, I think the story and how it is executed, edited etc. holds more value than such.

True. I can never get their complains because Bai Lu looks elegant and really beautiful already with the simple styling. I don't think it would look good on her if they adorned her with more exquisite styling, it might come off over the top for Mo Li since it's historical not xianxia.

I share the same sentiments with you. Also, I don't think your opinion is 'unpopular', as most of the international Lurongs I know and whose reactions I have seen of are all positive. I thought she looked really pretty in the costumes and yes, if you have read the novel you can actually picture out how her current customes as Ye Li matches with that in the novel.

I can relate to you! Lulu is the only actor/actress who I am able to watch all dramas of no matter what genre. I can never miss it, if she is in it, I have to watch. For others, I have never done that.

That's also another point to consider since they told their story in not just a nonlinear way but even the flashbacks aren't arrange in order too. Don't worry! you weren't the only one who got confused, I've seen others who were confused about it too. This drama happens to be a bit more complex compared to others, notice how we never even got an introduction to the realms but jumped straight right in to Li Qingyue's story. Usually, in other xianxias they'd give in more details about this.

It started out strong but somehow the second half kind of fell through, although I haven't completed it but upon reading comments and spoilers I have yet to see how badly the script became.

I'm actually aware about their longtime friendship since I watched livestreams from events which Lulu attends 🤭 and tbh before I never knew I needed a drama of them together until I watched them here. This is my 2nd drama of his, the last I watched was Hi Venus with Liang Jie. He is so far Lulu's only ML who matched her promotions.
