Same haha I gave the drama a 10 rating since it really touched me with how well the leads' motivations were fleshed…
I've watched some of her dramas too and it's also the first time I have seen her deliver such scenes. She did well indeed, it would be great to see her in a more mature and serious role tbh

I gave it a 9.5 and agree that being objective, it would probably be more in the 7-8 range if I take my emotions…
I think if they stuck with the original 30-ish episodes, the editing and maybe most of the plot holes would have been avoided but because they decided to cut it down, it definitely affected the overall story. The Nanjing arc felt a little too rushed. I'm going to be joining you with that thinking, I just finished watching it last night and I have been sort of reflecting at certain scenes. I would probably do a 2nd rewatch soon to catch the nuances I might have missed out the first time around.

Right. The Nanjing arc was my favorite honestly, though the Thai arc was really good too but something just hits different when they met after 6 years, having lived and seen the world. The yearning for each other was on a different level here and truly the acting especially on ep 25 and that super memorable line delivery pierced through me. That scene was beautiful in itself.

Yes we saw the exact same thing. Oh that's so unfair they cut that out, really wanna riot.

I've been scrolling through weibo and xhs, seeing the amount of scenes that were deleted was such a shame because they were really good materials. I felt like the drama would've been more fleshed out if only they had included those certain scenes. I saw a picture of Jin Zhao at the library in Canada looking at Jiang Mu from a distance. I thought they were going to include this part in the latter episodes because I badly also wanted a pov of Jin Zhao in those 6 years they had separated but it's unfortunate they missed out on that. The editing and transitions along with the deleted scenes were truly evident and made this drama have its rough edges. I especially didn't like how the cut on Ep 24 when Jiang Mu asked Jin Zhao if he was trying to reconcile with her. I wished they could've shown us Jin Zhao's answer then but it was like they completely just forgot about that part. I haven't read the novel so I am not fully sure if it was intentional or there was supposed to be more to that scene. It's just regretful. This drama definitely deserved 30 episodes more. Overall, I did enjoy it. The story had its own depth and uniqueness to it. The characters were well-rounded with the side characters playing an essential role in the main story. Both Jiang Mu and Jin Zhao were the stark contrast of each other but their middle ground is how selfless they both are when it comes to loving one another. Jin Zhao was truly like the sun, fearless and fiery (also literally), while Jiang Mu is the moon, gentle and glimmering with hope. So despite its flaws I still gave this drama a 10 rating because of how much the story had impacted me, but if I were to rate this without being biased it would be 8/10. I have a question for novel readers though, was there supposed to be a bathtub kissing scene? I just saw a photo of Jiang Mu on xhs wearing that same dress for that scene and she was sort of wet.

He Yu is just damn talented actor, he literally surpasses many of my fav top male C actors. He embodies whatever…
I could relate to you so much. I am so surprised to only have discovered him now. He is a hidden gem. Like you, he easily surpassed my top fave male c-actors too. I think a big factor of it other than his looks obviously being drop dead gorgeous is he has a way with acting. He's skilled with these crazy micro-expressions and his eyes speaks so much emotions. I think one of the biggest take for me that easily fell for him (no longer denying how head over heels I am for him rn) is his voice. There's not many c-actors who have such good acting voice. He doesn't just act with expressions but also acts with his voice. Tan Jianci is one of my fave actors whom I know have a good acting voice but even He Yu's voice varies distinctly from him. Looking forward to more of his futures roles and badly hoping he'd get more bigger projects.

I'm honestly so reluctant to finish this drama, I have three episodes left to go but I am delaying it at the moment.

I'm on episode 22 and somehow I'm not that upset about Jin Zhao. I hate the noble idiocy trope but somehow I can't…
Same here. Tbh I don't find what he did as a noble idiocy trope. His intention for Jiang Mu had always been clear, he always held her as the most valuable and with high regard. He'd never want to be the one to ruin her life. Lying to her for 6 years was indeed wrong but that decision of his made Jiang Mu lead a better life unchained from being weighed down when he knew how uncertain and unstable his future was. If anything he was selfless.

Someone on twitter posted an uncut version of the bed scene welp. the censorship is my worst enemy lol https://x.com/Lou_Anne0404/status/2003136497894179003
It's a shame this detail didn't make it due to censorship but it would have been nice to have it kept to show her concern for him.

the built up of that scene was so good and just when we were getting to the good part it disappeared in a blink…
you can say it's almost kind of like that, censorship in china are often unpredictable sometimes, this is because it's not just one main final boss involved, before these dramas get submitted to the ones responsible for approving whether a drama gets to be aired or not, production companies have their own responsibilities and own ways on how they will tweak their dramas around in order for it to get approval, so to put it simply the production company of the drama also play a part in changing certain things in the drama and adding that with post-production review. So it also depends on how they see "explicit" scenes in some way.

same here 😭 IKR after feeding us all that only to crush us here...I hope whoever is responsible for this injustice doesn't get a good night sleep πŸ₯Ί I was expecting that scene to be a bit longer despite censorship atleast like what we've witnessed on TFF at some point

same here, my only problem was the abrupt cuts and transition but overall this had been a solid watch

Just putting my piece of thought out here. What Jin Zhao had done to Jiang Mu is indeed unfair for her and I agree she deserved the truth but on the other hand, Jin Zhao's decision of hiding the truth and letting her go so she could live a better life was also the right call if we were to put ourselves in Jin Zhao's shoes. I've seen some people think that his decision was selfish, well it is, if we only see it on one side but if we try and put ourselves into his shoes and perspective you'd understand that he was actually selfless. Yes, he did hurt Jiang Mu by doing so but he chose the way that won't completely ruin her. Jin Zhao knew that Jiang Mu had a lot more in store for her life, he might have reasoned out for her being young back then but it wasn't just about that, Jin Zhao knew Jiang Mu's value. He stayed original to his love and intent for her. Back then, he fought so hard to clear his name just so he could be worthy of her, and this time around he prevented ruining Jiang Mu's life when he was in his very worst state and unsure of his life. He had always seen Jiang Mu with such precious and high regard that he's always cautious and careful with her...He was and is always so protective of her that he puts his happiness aside just so she could be happy. This was his way of loving Jiang Mu, he was always putting her first before himself.

Currently just started watching episode 18 and it seems they made a mistake during the first few seconds of this episode. They showed us it was morning with the sun risen up the first few seconds while Jiang Mu is in deep thoughts inside her room, then the next thing it was suddenly night time when she ran back to Jin Zhao's garage. I just find this editing weird and confusing.
