MDL ratings had always been subjective so it is best not to trust what the rating in this site shows you especially if the drama is still currently airing. There are several factors that makes MDL rating not that trustworthy which you have to take into consideration, but the biggest factor of them all is that there are troll accounts that like to downrate a drama and there are also accounts that like to rate a drama a perfect score even when a drama has not finished airing yet.

This drama is different from Hidden Love, you can already consider it as another drama. Sang Yan from Hidden Love is just a character who is made to be Sang Zhi's elder brother and Duan Jia Xu's friend, he was only constricted into such writing so we only got to see his playful sides, however, The First Frost focuses more about who the actual Sang Yan truly is, so it is no wonder he is far different from the Sang Yan in Hidden Love because there is now more depth to him and this revolves around his life story.

Yes, the Sang Yan here is the same character from the one in Hidden Love. This is neither, you can take it as a standalone story as this drama focuses on Sang Yan's story alone.

I totally get why the Sang Yan is head over heels for Yi Fan. Apart from being known as Goddess Wen, she has a unique sense of humor to her that even she, herself doesn't realize. She doesn't even need to try hard as she is naturally capable of leaving Sang Yan speechless over her. Yi Fan's unintentional carelessness and innocence at the same time during those moments brings out this unexpected charm in her. The sleeping together and 520 remains iconic 😂🤭

I second this! Zhang Ruo Nan's acting performance is really striking in this drama, her ability to convey distinct emotions clearly across the screen is truly deserving of praise. They really didn't cast just mere eye-candies but ones that can really 'act' and bring the emotions out of the characters they portray into greater heights.

Sang Yan trying not to be too obvious that he is still hung up on Yi Fan but fails at it so miserably the next minute, he is still so down bad for her just as he was in the past. The things he did for her shows how deep his love is and I couldn't imagine how hurt he must have been too when he saw Yi Fan's living condition and what she went through. I just know in the end, he will be that sturdy and firm rock Yi Fan will finally be able to lean on, the key that will help Yi Fan overcome her past traumas.

don't bother much with the ratings, the drama has just aired today and usually some mdl users prefer to rate the drama once it finishes airing

it's completely oppisite to hidden love so those who might have like the previous one might connect with this more it just depends on ones perferences

Completed the first 4 episodes in one seating, despite how it still might be too early to say this, but without doubt this drama certainly did not disappoint and is worth the wait. One thing to note is that it is completely opposite to Hidden Love which is actually not a bad thing. I love how the premise of the story is set with much more depth and depicts not solely about two people falling in love alone but how these two people will overcome the hard life challenges and situations that came into their life after their separation - and what future holds for them after they had reunited. Although the atmosphere of the drama sets for a melodramatic and angsty vibe, I love the addition of little humors between Sang Yan and Yi Fan's interactions as it brings a tonal shift that balances well with the atmosphere the drama has depicted. Bai Jing Ting's acting as Sang Yan is no doubt remarkable but what got to me is Zhang Ruo Nan's acting performance, especially with the heavy scenes ; absolutely connected with her character as she was able to deliver those emotional scenes well. The chemistry between the two actors is no less than perfect, I enjoyed watching their playful banters but at the same time feel for their sentimental and angsty moments. With all these said, it's obvious this drama has instantly already became my favorite and I am very much looking forward to the next episodes.

On the side note, I did wish Chen Zhe Yuan did a cameo as Duan Jia Xu as I couldn't buy the other actor playing his character but this is just a minor and wishful thinking. No wonder Duan Jia Xu and Sang Yan are best buddies, these two men are so unreal and are a living breathing walking green forest.

Yes, it is honestly the complete opposite of hidden love. Even the vibe sets for a colder atmosphere, I believe the future episodes will get a lot more angstier and am seated for it.

ikr, although I think cutting down to 12 episodes is a good idea to prevent dragging of plots and fillers but at the same time it still has its cons ; unsatisfactory or rush endings might be the case
