Great Poll Jeanie! I had to fudge a couple votes in categories where I hadn't seen any of the dramas....mianhae. I also had trouble picking a favorite. I picked Reply 1997, but QIHM was up there with it. Next year, there should be a best couple category as well. And why was Kim Myung Min not in the Best Actor category or Choi Si Won? They are both rockin' it in King of Dramas!
Great Article! I fell hard for LSG in MGIAG, but I've yet to see any other dramas. (I'm kind of saving K2H for later.) He's a good actor, and I can't wait for Guga!
making To the Beautiful You was a mistake. I watched Hana Kimi more times then any other drama and for Korea to…
The more times I talk about TTBY, the more points I consider deducting from my score on MDL. It becomes more and more frustrating when I think about it. Why did they downplay the bromance between the dorm heads. Did anyone have any real camaraderie? In HK, both Sano and Nakatsu are great friends--TTBY focused more on their love rivalry than how that interplayed with their friendship. Also, I really missed Kayashima. Korea had the perfect bromance within its grasp and didn't even have one part of it in the show. OMO...now I have rantface.
Excellent article! Dramas have opened up a whole new world to me. I've discovered a new language & culture…
I never thought that I would be attracted to Asian guys either. Then I saw Oguri Shun--and everything changed from that moment. I have always liked the skinny but built type, and I really loved British boys (because of Harry Potter), but it wasn't until Asian dramas that I discovered this beautiful part of the world and its beautiful people and culture.
I really liked the article and agree with everything you wrote. It makes me remember the Korean's tradition that…
I agree here! I'm still having trouble figuring this out, lol. All I know (and am happy about) is that Lee Min Ho, Choi Si Won, Jang Geun Suk, and Seo In Guk are all born in my year!!!!
very interesting article!thanks for sharing your theory. i'm not quite sure if we can really continue the revolution…
I had only a passing interest in anime and some manga before I got into drama as well. Now I'm obsessed, and I changed my whole life because of drama (including the way I am going about my education).
Let's not get it twisted. City Hunter is a romance disguised as a revenge drama. Gaksital is a revenge drama.
I've yet to see Gaksital, so I chose what I was familiar with. I disagree with you though. I was much more intrigued by the politics and the revenge than by the romance in City Hunter.
I think that the "Spy" thing is going to be 2013's "time-travel"! I'm actually excited for the spy idea, and both Covertness and The Secret Lovers War sound so great!
