Loved this! I hadn’t even heard of Hometown Cha Cha. The main reason I loved this movie was because of its humor. The dynamic between both leads was funny too. The fl reminded me of my sister for some reason ?

I think she’ll become a great character actress! Has a really distinct voice, and always leaves a lasting impression in any show she’s in.

Title Lawless Lawyer Spoiler
I watched this again since USA Netflix will no longer be carrying it. As expected, I really do still like this…
This is just to keep here, in case I want to watch it again (so, I’m TL;DR-ing my self). And beware of spoilers:

This person rewatched like me. And pretty much summed up my thoughts about watching it a 2nd time: https://unbotheredunnies.com/2020/05/21/sugar-babys-take-two-review-lawless-lawyer/

- I really do still wonder about Judge Cha’s upbringing. Don’t get me wrong, her character was really horrible. But that nasty behavior is taught and learned. I wonder how healthy her relationship was with her dad. Where did her mom go? Why didn’t she ever have kids? I have my own theories, but I couldn’t help but think how it was sad that she didn’t have kids. But she was a career woman. So…

Also, I felt as though a lot of dark stuff was alluded to when any of the characters would mention Father Cha’s reign as judge. Like, was he really that horrible? It seemed so icky.

- Next, I couldn’t help but notice how much of the past Kiseong was mentioned, but it wasn’t showcased a lot. Like, I know Sang pil’s mom practically lived at the law firm, but it would’ve been nice to see Sang pil return to his childhood home once. I even thought his childhood home was where he’d taken Jae-yi’s mom when she need to go into hiding. But I was wrong since he said that his childhood home was near Jae-yi’s.

- Also, what happened to Sang pil’s dad. From the looks of it he’d skipped town (based on what Sang pil’s uncle said). But it would’ve been interesting to see it alluded to a bit more. It would’ve given Sang pil’s mother even more depth if the viewers were told what exactly happened to Sang pil’s father.

- It always makes me laugh in any law drama when I see that the prosecutors and lawyers apparently despise each other. I guess it’s a trope (does it actually apply to real life?). Sang pil’s favorite prosecutor did get on my nerves quite a bit, like when Jae-yi started to personally hate him, but I like how he started to silently root for Sang pil. I really did.

- I liked it in episode 10 when Mayor Ahn and Sang pil have to fight their way out of the hospital together. The show really took advantage of the “enemy mine” trope here. Despite a really small moment of- of- would you call it solidarity? Hm, yeah, I guess solidarity. Solidarity. I really appreciated how they both kept their qualms about each other. Especially when what Mayor Ahn did was unforgivable. I thought the hospital scene was nicely directed.

- I liked the Lawless gang. They were all a welcome comic relief, and it made the dark and sad moments bearable. I really appreciated them towards the end, and then brother-sister duo were funny. Everyone had good chemistry.

- Everyone might think the last court room scene was chaotic. But I liked it. I don’t really know Korea’s court system, but all of it was probably unrealistic. But who cares? I really did like it when Judge Cha was called out and backed into a corner. Korea is all about face. So, what’s accepted in and outside of the court might be a bit more ambiguous than we think.

- I liked Jae-yi. She was my favorite character outside of Sang-pil and even Geum Gang (I loved his comic relief). The character design was lovely. Seo Yea Ji embodied Jae-yi well. From costume to her fierce and calm attitude. Again, it would’ve been nice to see more of her back story, and Sang-pil. Like, at least one episode dedicated to their coming-of-age. Highschool to law school. All the characters probably could’ve used their own backstory episode but then it would turn into 100 episode melodrama. Hehe.

- Lastly, I liked it when Jae-yi’s mother was found. Episode 10-11. Yet, it saddened me how much she’d changed given her circumstances. Yet, if the show was longer there would’ve been more scenes with her, and I probably would be more happy. Regardless, The Ha Family was reunited and they looked happy. They really did. I did appreciate the romance in the drama too because I believe Sang pil and Jae-Yi’s relationship was built to last. Judge Cha even admitted that she didn’t see their relationship coming. Some see chemistry. Other’s don’t. But I like how they established their relationship and reaffirmed their love for each other. I like how they looked at each other, smiled at each other, talked to each other, held hands, and laughed together. There was something there: a genuine fondness between SYJ and LJG , if not a bit of familiarity. That’s enough for me. I think back to their courtship from time to time.

So, yeah. LL still holds a specially place in my heart. And my comments may or may not age well. Only time will tell.

I watched this again since USA Netflix will no longer be carrying it. As expected, I really do still like this drama. I recently started watching Vincenzo and I kept thinking back to this drama. So, because of its last day on Netflix( July 23rd), and since watching Vincenzo, I had to rewatch LL. It still didn’t disappoint. I don’t know why I still can’t let go of this drama. I know some people may beg to differ, but I actually did like the leads’ relationship. I dunno, while rewatching, I picked up on some new things. And I love the OST “Memories”! Reminds me of the 80s.

I can’t wait for the Thai version!

I wish that for a lot of shows too! Technology is advancing. Maybe your wish will come true. With or without original recording. It’s possible.

Yay! I am so glad you enjoyed!
You’re definitely right! 🙌🏽

I’ve been trying to look for more ghost-themed Thai dramas. But the closest I’ve gotten to recently was “Oh no! Here comes trouble”, but it’s Taiwanese (it was good tho…maybe it can have a Thai remake 👀).

I’m going to skim the Thai drama list again.

Regarding the substances he abused, the anesthesia one makes me wonder how other performers function in the entertainment business. Especially if they don’t have a good support system, or they’re self-destructive in essence. If filming is ridiculously strenuous, then touring must be too.
