guys i watched 4 eps i like the movie ver.ši useally like series likes thisš¤but idk why it bored me so much…
Prolly cuz the focus is different. Movie focuses on the friendship while the series is on his life till 30's. The movie is also alot tamer and has only 1 proper lover.
This is a dimension of this whole story that baffles me. If I was on EITHER side of this issue, I would get like…
Exactly... we heard a voice recording, but no evidence its actually her. The family might just wanna get rid of kim soo hyun's reputation, he might have had a relationship with her which obviously her family was aware of, while kim soo hyun might wait till it goes to court cuz defamation is no joke in korea and releasing evidence right now when everyone's against him is a bad move. We need to courts verdict to decide who's wrong.
I think the producers, screen writers, and director were probably really interested in telling a queer story honoring…
"Sometimes the queer experience includes seeing where others have privilege and you donāt, and navigating all the complex feelings around that"
I can count the mniutes by hand for this situation. Heesu saw them being lovely dovey only 3 times in the entire drama. Rest serves no purpose to the drama. neither can u explain why chanyoung playing tennis has to do with heesu's relationship either.
Heesu's coming out was to his sister ended with 4-5 lines and is never brought up again. Here it lacks depth.
Hesu got over chanyoung in under 5 mins, they should've showed his inner turmoil and hurt here but it wasn't showed and he fell for seung won pretty fast in the next ep.
They could've talked about the pride flag, heesu searching for homosexuality on the internet, so many more original and lived experiences could've been added if they wanted to include a real queer teen's experience but wasn't. It doesn't even show heesu struggling being gay either, other than the fact he can't confess which is ofc a major part but not limited to it.
Sure the drama had queer elements in it I'm not denying it unlike some, however its weak. Wanna make it properly queer? Follow the manhwa. U can see countless queer experiences that were never adapted into the drama.
" āJust confessā is a theme repeated to Heesu and Seung Won " This could've been done without jiyu and chanyoung being in love either? And mind you in the manhwa Chanyoung wasn't an arrogant prick, He actually was supportive of heesu and was cheering him on.
I think the producers, screen writers, and director were probably really interested in telling a queer story honoring…
The queer experience doesn't include straight couples fliriting? How does that fit the narrative?
The story is ok, a bit bland since the chemistry they had was countable, the introdcution of gay moms was a first. But personally i feel it didn't hit me in the heart like Love in the big city and other queer dramas(not BL)
Is it better? Prolly better than nothing but thats it. many would say even day no since many queer elements were removed compared to manhwa.
lol if these actors are so worried about their reputation there is no need to do a BL in the first placewe as…
Im not against light fluffy BL ' at all. A minimal BL isnt bad. They shouldn't have done it for heesu since its an adaptation and things could (did) go very wrong with it. Maybe an original is fine.
Why.. why the hell would the directors think that adding straight people fliriting and being lovey dovey was a good idea in a BL? Are they that stupid? Do they not understand their own audience?
lol if these actors are so worried about their reputation there is no need to do a BL in the first placewe as…
Turning a famous adaptation into a minimal doesn't promote the community properly at all. Ur saying people to be happy with scraps when they expected a feast. AND mind u the directors had to add a straight main couple to greenlight the series, this was even mentioned months ago before the trailer even dropped! So yes while it does promote it "somewhat" its EXTREMELY feeble. and that is what we are complaining about! And ofc u don't need the actors to do explicit scenes or even Kiss which "Cherry Magic" proved and they couldn't even make it good like that.
"they basically allowed the production team to manipulate their work however they want"
Yea? That's how all adaptations work? The author prolly trusted them to do good. Or should fans expect bad cuz author sold off the rights and has no say? Do u think harry potter fans will sit still if they fucked up the movies? Look at Game of throne fans and the uproar they created when they fucked up the last season.
The director, screenwriters and producers are utter idiots. Their audience is BL fans, queers and allies not straight people. Sad that they ruined such potential.
lol if these actors are so worried about their reputation there is no need to do a BL in the first placewe as…
Ok just for you to know, Authors only have the ability to sell the rights to adopt it to a tvseries/movie. they are mostly not involved in the adaptation be it script or anything else. This has been told by many a authors. Very rarely do get rights to make changes like j.k rowling and even then its still limited cuz books aren;t movies.
The acting in the drama was great. No one has a problem with that. However there's no need to water/tone down things for hetero people. Gay rights weren't achieved thru toning down, they were done thru protests, documentaries and awareness. There is no point in creating minimal dramas since they are bound to be critcized by the people who appreciate BL too.
As for the actors, well... if they don't have the courage its best for them to stay away from it and give it to people who actually dare. Gay dramas aren't nothing new and people like Kim nam gil, Lee je hoon, yeon woo jin, zo in sung , jo jin moo, all have acted in gay dramas with much more explicit scenes in much worser times. Bl isn't gonna break them , just like how Jiwoong of Zerobase1 was promoted and voted for to be in a kpop idol by the bl community and he even gad the balls to say he acted in BL infront of the judges and still go in! so what's the excuse?
BL shouldn't be just a money making machine or a chance to be simply famous, these actors need to know it too. So they can skip these if they don't wanna do it.
"... presenting 4 ML who falls in Lvoe"Thatās the factory setting for straight dramas. Couple A, Couple B, mild…
This is a weak excuse. Yes theres creative freedom but where do u draw the line? Isnt it when u have to add a straight couple and show their chemistry in a BL? Look at semantic error a beautiful drama done with some obvious changes. Yet people loved it while here? Ur excuse for what the director did was that he has freedom? Then why make a BL to begin with?
And i gave u clear reasons. Why would a BL fan watch a straight main lead couple be loveydovey? IN a BL of all things? Where is ur answer to it? A director who doesn't understand their audience is a failure.
We are ok with straight couples. Its been done before in BL's ain't something new. But in this story highly irrelevant. So is their chemistry.
People are entitled to their opinions jut like how u rated this "awesome" While yes i do feel like giving it a…
Lol nice metaphor but no. U prolly migh t not be interested but heres some of the problems
1. A straight couple are main leads in a BL. Illogical
2. Heesu's crush is over in under 4 mins. Neve elaborated on hearbreak and moved on to seung won in a flash.
3. Slow butn turned into galcier burn. Yes i love slow burns but theres a limit for everything.
4. Weak chemistry. The manhwa had more. Drama removed some key ones. And pls don't say two people looking at the stars is chemistry cuz it ain't. Even "The Untamed" had more chemistry depsite the censorship.
5. Ju chanyoung gaslighting & pressuring heesu into revealing his feelings. Want me to elaborate on it?
6. Less than 5 mins of them being a couple while we had to watch a straight couple fliriting and being loveydovey more than them.
7.Rushing the ending when it could've been evenly paced
8. Does not follow the adaptation. Now imagine they do that to a series Harry Potter?
Kinda peeped it was going to be bad when the author said the drama has its own ācharm.ā Itās like a polite…
I can't blame the author that much. They only have the ability to sell the rights to the creation of the tv series. Beyond that everything is out of their control. Its unfortunate but its the reality
"... presenting 4 ML who falls in Lvoe"Thatās the factory setting for straight dramas. Couple A, Couple B, mild…
"Cause the most people are not gay, just about 10 to 20 percent"
First off, the aduience is BL fans, queer people and allies. The rest ain't wathcing it. Ur entire logic here falls apart.
Again im repeating to u thst the producers created a straight main lead couple (yes thier leads look at mdl cast page and imdb) to greenligh the series.
This was already talked about in reddit months ago before the series nor the trailer aired.
Many KBLs have had straight couples but no one gives a damn cuz they weren't main leads. Addint to the fact that there was NO straight romance in the drama. And what makes u think BL fans wanna watch a girl snd boy fliritng, running holding hands et? In a BL of all?
People literally gave it a review of 1.0 How about you make yours and make sure it's good then let me rate it.…
People are entitled to their opinions jut like how u rated this "awesome" While yes i do feel like giving it a 1 is too much, lets not act like BL police here. There were many flaws in the drama already discussed.
Again read the "negative comments" as some have given clear evidence and reasoning as well.
Lets not promote toxic positivity when the drama clearly has problems. Adaptations should live up their standards. There is nothing wrong with fans wsnting quality, if low budget BL's can do that so should this
The manhwa is so different that they might as well write a new story instead of using the same title and character…
Are u blind?š The straight couple are main leads too. Look at MDL cast page and IMDB. You aren't the one deciding the main leads the director is and its announced publicly š
And do tell me how Chanyoung fliritng with Ji yu contributed to a gay storyline? And them holidng hands and running too. Care to explain? Like what makes it improve the queerness of the show?
Well, I'm a gay man and I liked the show. Are you implying that, I, as a gay person am uncomfortable with gayness…
U as a gay dude should know how proper representation matters. Are u saying queer people should be happy with the bare minimum? U think all those western countries got their gay rights by being satisfied with the bare min? Korea is a homophobic country, and there is 100% no reason to "water " it down especially when its audience is BL fans, queer people and allies. As for queer identity nothing was elaborated on. Imagine where queer cinema would be if people settled for watered down stuff like this? We'd never be heard nor treated like humans.
And Its an adaptation! not an orginal drama. Its obvious people are gonna get downright mad! What did they think? that people are gonna praise them for doing it wrong? Also mind u the directors and producers added the straight couple as main leads to greenlight the series. This was told moths before the trailer was even released.
as for the author? It seems like u have no knowledge on how adaptations work properly. Authors have LITTLE to NO power when it comes to the script, casting or directors. If u want read about it, unless ur J.K Rowling, what happens is that they simply sell the rights to have the boo k turn into a movie/tv series.
I can count the mniutes by hand for this situation. Heesu saw them being lovely dovey only 3 times in the entire drama. Rest serves no purpose to the drama. neither can u explain why chanyoung playing tennis has to do with heesu's relationship either.
