I've watched the Chinese version a long time ago, and although I don't remember anything, I do remember how good the plot and acting was. Comparatively, I don't think this version was as good, and a lot of the character's actions weren't explained very well. I fast forwarded quite a bit but finally finished it. It was still a good show and had a lot of great actors like IU, Lee Joon Gi, Nam Joo Hyuk, and Kang Ha Neul but I think their acting improved a lot after this show. If you don't compare it to the original, I think it's a great show and worth watching.
I've been out of good dramas to watch in awhile. Pleasantly surprised by how good it is. I'm glad that it had a happy ending and it was definitely worth that watch!
Really well produced drama and the story is unique and interesting. I would say that the acting is off sometimes, but I'm not sure it's because of cultural differences. And some of the plot is just not realistic, but it is still believable. The whole drama felt well produced, but I didn't feel connected to any of the characters/side characters.
this show is pissing me off more and more, which is rare for a rom com. At first it's LSK's character being sexist and a jerk, now it's the president or whatever taking the money from the previous chef but threatening the FL to make pickles. This show is pissing me off............
Attended a shrine? Is that you mean by wrongdoings? Truthfully speaking, to completely cancel an actor bc he attended…
Yeah I agree Hitler and the fascists in Japan are pure evilness. However, I think there's a difference between taking a picture of cherry blossoms outside the shrine and attending an event specifically to celebrate Hitler.
one of the best shows i have watched. You really have no clue. I hope writer writes more such dramas.
I absolutely hated the writing at the beginning too, but I realized it was a rom com and you can't expect too much. I think you won't be disappointed with the atypical family though, it's written really well imo.
I'm dropping it after watching first episode. They all look fine, but none of them are really handsome/pretty and that's okay. The reason for the drop is because it's so boring, and FL really sucks at acting in this series at least. The ML's and the villains are great actors but they don't get as much screen time.
I haven't watched the drama but the sheer amount of people so offended when you say "the FL looks slightly older then the ML" is funny. They are either FL die-hard fans or they feel attacked personally for some reason.
“particularly Cheng Yi, whose acting skills have been criticized by Chinese netizens, many of whom believe he…
Well there's haters who hate everything about him (acting, reading lines, looks, personality). But excluding them, he's actually been considered a relatively good and consistent actor, which I fully agree with. I would say he isn't the most handsome actor, but his acting and his character definitely makes him look handsome in the dramas.
I agree. The show started great but left me wanting more of… anything? something? We’d be taken in one direction…
Hmm yeah. I mean if they didn't have the budget/funds they should of just simplified the ending. It was too messy when it could have been short and sweet.
I agree, I think the story was progressing smoothly right up until the last episode. They pretty much tied up all of the main plots and loose ends in the 11th episode, and the pacing of it was great. For the final episode, they could have just stuck to one storyline and added a bit more to it: ML and FL long distance relationship, Ju Ri and her bf's relationship, ML and his mother's relationship, or restarting the business. They instead tried to do a dozen subplots and tie them up hastily.

I was so confused with the last episode and I won't try to understand it. The ending was so awful and unsatisfying, but it didn't ruin the overall story for me. It just had the potential elevate the series to the next level, instead, they made a generic awful k-drama ending where too much happens and nothing is explained.
I didn't continue to watch the special episode. To me, the ending in episode 40 is just fine.
I really hoped that LLH stayed alive for a while longer so he got to enjoy the rest of his days in peace with his friends and his dog. Otherwise, the special episode and the ending in Ep 40 are both an open ending and can be interpreted both ways. I think though that it doesn't matter whether he was alive or dead, he was able to accept his life as is and live in the present.
