Title Idol I
It's overall a good show, but the case was dragged a little longer than needed. The ending was fine, but I kind of expected something better and more sophisticated after it being a straight mystery for 12 episodes.

*Conspiracy theories* *not his fan*What if it’s not that he won’t pay, but he can’t pay? If his fund is…
The only explanation I can think of with my not very smart brain is that he doesn't have that much money on hand to pay. 14 million is a huge amount of money, maybe his money is in stocks or in property.

It doesnt directly effect the people. Taxes are used to pay back money borrowed. Spending would need cut for this…
I'm sure there are many more rich people doing it. Those rich CEOs wouldn't even care since they don't depend on the trust of the public like Cha Eun Woo does. They'll just pay a small fine and continue doing it.

China would literally ban your career forever. Why are you guys lying so much for your Korean oppas?
No, the Chinese government bans you. You just said "NO OTHER COUNTRY" in caps and we are correcting you. Just think about what happens to normal people who don't pay their taxes. Why do you think it's okay for billionaires who have the means to pay to not? I don't support slandering a celebrity for something not proven yet and still in investigation by the government, but if they are actually tax evading then they have to follow they law. You aren't suggesting celebrities are above the law right...

Ok I read everything you wrote, that's all I wanted to know. Btw, Autism is spelt wrong with much respect to the Autism community, it ranges from a wide spectrum where some are capable of romance and they lead normal lives while some need to be cared 24/7. Some people with Autism or friends and family of people with Autism desires Autism to be declared a disability because it is severe enough where they need help, while others want people to be more accepting of their differences rather than judgmental and labeling them. All forms of media are very bad with disability representation, I think the best way is to let actual people with the disability act but no entertainment cares about people with disabilities that much.

Bro may I know if you are Chinese by any chance or if you understand Chinese at all, I wonder where your fascination…
In terms of Asian values, I would argue that China and SK are literally so similar in terms of their values. Sometimes I would be like "oh I know Chinese would feel this way about this issue," and then check the internet and "oh, South Korea has the exact same reaction to China." SK very much follows the same social hierarchy, respect for elders, and value or work and unity in society, I don't know what or how you were convinced otherwise. If you think about Kpop, most Koreans care about idols the exact same way Chinese cares about their idols, which is they don't. Most Koreans or Chinese barely likes idol music, they love their trot, OSTs, ballads, and hip-hop or whatever. Like I said, they are very much alike in their views from what I've seen. If you go talk to the older people in Korea, some can actually write Chinese characters. I'd argue like at least 1/4 of Korean words are just Chinese loan words and they mostly use it in the same way used in Chinese whereas Japan added their own twist to Kanji. Half of Korean's counting system is the same as China's, the other half is something they made up. Anyways, I don't think they've been Westernized that much lol.
For Japan-China relationship, I don't really care about it but I was just wondering because most Chinese absolutely despise Japan (for a valid reason tbf) so it would be weird if you were Chinese.

In terms of moral integrity and whatever, that's just a lie China wants you to believe, China is very corrupt to be honest but they hide it really well. SK is equally corrupt but it's quite obvious at this point, like everyone knows. In China, there's disturbing things happening in the background, but you'll never see it because they censor their social media. You should look into 丰县生育八孩女子事件 or the recent "suicide" of actor 于朦胧. Also, most Chinese are absolutely fed up with the corrupt entertainment industry since about like 2021? When 郑爽 was evading taxes despite earning 2,080,000 yuan daily. I think after that, around 500 artists were checked for tax evading. Despite the many reminders, actors 邓伦 and 袁冰妍 still refused to pay taxes and they were blacklisted. For reference, the low income in China earns about 100-200 yuan daily (25 USD), yes most of China is very poor. So it's infuriating that someone who makes 2,080,000 yuan daily won't just like pay their taxes you know? I think 吴亦凡 (kris wu), 罗志祥, 吴秀波, and a few other incidents that happened that very much ruined the little respect that China had for their artists. It was quite clear that most Chinese actors barely worked hard, they had like 10 stand-ins, each actor had a personal RV on site, some actors don't remember their lines and were just reading "123123123..." in repeat in Chinese and voice actors would dub over it. I'm not making this stuff up, this is all well known by any Chinese citizen and as crazy as the "123" thing sounds, it's a story told and verified by a couple of well respected Chinese actors.

I'm all for watching whatever you love to watch, and I'll continue to do the same. I still embrace Chinese culture because there's so much I love it about it, the long intricate history, the food, the literature and language etc. It's also a part of me. But idk, everything you said about China felt very superficial or outright untrue to me, so I guess I wrote too much about it. I am very heavily invested (too invested) in Chinese entertainment industry and culture as you can tell. I did start distancing myself a little bit after 2022 for my own good.

One great thing about that is you have all of the best C-drama masterpieces you haven't watched yet! I'm gonna drop this one cuz it's too similar to the original, and I prefer the original in all aspects. But if you end up liking the male lead even a little, I highly recommend watching the masterpiece Eternal Love! It's so beautifully written, filmed, and even the music is perfect (I can still sing both the beginning and ending ost to date haha). Okay sorry for pinging you so many times XD, happy drama watching.

frr, nah I won't argue with them anymore. I love Chinese dramas too and grew up watching them, especially since I understand the language and culture better so I don't have the "lost in translation" moments. Also my family are fully Chinese and they love K-dramas as well so I don't see what their problem is lol.

also u seem to just be anti-Korean lol. You can't tell me a whole genre just "sucks" and be confident about that. Don't tell me there's no comedy in depressing Chinese shows, I've watched enough Chinese shows to know. I'm gonna stop here since there's no arguing with someone who is so stuck in their head about something...

Also, the only thing we will probably agree on is that Moon Lovers suck XD. People, please for the love of god watch 步步惊心 and not the very mediocre copy. For the same reason, please try to watch My Mister and not this very mediocre copy lol.

I think depression is shown through a lack of emotions, not the very intense emotions shown through the remake. I absolutely hated how they decided to change Lee Jian's character, it's absolutely not what being depressed feels like. You get the feeling of depression when everything in the world is so awful and tiring, so you don't respond anymore. At least that's what it feels like to be chronically depressed... The original shows it perfectly through the female lead and male lead.

I honestly think that means you are more or less biased unconsciously if you think most Chinese dramas are better than K-dramas? First of all, I actually think that My Mister is more intricate with its details, to the point where everything is more subtle. You have to think more to understand what each scene means, and there is a meaning behind each scene.
The Chinese version is more direct and intense, everything is very dramatic which is fine. But honestly imo it's just a lazier way of storytelling. I don't have anything against storytelling like this since I also watch dramas with very intense and obvious acting and enjoy them, but I also think it's easier to produce and easier to consume.

I was going to, but then realised no romance. No romance, no deal.
Nah I love a good romance, but well written shows are fine without it. There's more to humans than romance btw: friendship, relationships between people, understanding yourself, plot moving along, etc. It's crazy to say a show won't be human and moving just because it doesn't have romance.

Cheng Yi's enunciation of words could be a lot better and this has always been a problem for him he never fixed. Otherwise I think he's a great actor given a good script and great direction from director and other actors. Clearly this was lacking in this tv series, but he should have probably chosen a different script. I personally couldn't make past episode 2.

Title Dream High
Thought the plot was a little cringey at first, but I'm actually quite hooked on Ep8. I actually like all of the characters finally at this point! I was surprised how good the acting was overall considering a lot of them were idols and have never acted at this point, the director must have done a great job.

Title Happy Camp
I'm so sad about Happy Camp. It's literally my childhood until adulthood and all of my favorite actors/singers went on there. He Jiong is the best reality TV show host because he's funny but also takes care of everyone, and he's supported well by Xie Na, Du HaiTao, Li WeiJia, and Wu Xin.

In reality, lots of people move on after their children die but keep them in their heart? I think that part is very real. Some do fall into depression, suicide, etc, but most people end up moving on.
There was carelessness on the parents part that caused them to lose their kids. They all felt guilty because they all contributed to it, but in the end, it was mostly an accident where everything went wrong at the same time.
If Geum-myeong didn't ride the bike in the storm against her parents wishes, if the Eun-myeong decided to look after his brother, if the mother didn't yell at Dong-myeong, if the father was home with the kids, or if the neighbor actually paid attention, then Dong-myeong wouldn't have died.
