Yup disappointed, I'm not really into these kinds of fantasy dramas. I don't think this really fits the usual fantasy genres in C-dramas that i've been accustomed too. Definitely Ying-Yang Master vibes in it and I didn't like that one. I guess I will have to wait for a proper historical drama from GJM because I am not really liking this one.

Forget Goodbye My Princess comparison, I was genuinely sad by the ending of that one. It was poignant, tragic and a fitting conclusion to the story. Two people who love each other and got separated by misunderstandings and circumstances versus this enemies to lovers trope that requires incredible mental gymnastics to justify how FL even felt any attraction to ML. Forgiveness and closure could bloom between this two. But a sappy and "love you to death" love story, absolutely not!

Watching this after 9 episodes I have to say the FL must be mentally disturbed to even consider getting together with ML. The ML literally tried to kill her several times and then continually harassed her because she knew his identity. Then somehow she started to develop feelings because she learnt the ML sob story. This is literally Thai lakorn staple sprinkled with dubious and unrealistic choices by the female lead.

Good point, I still wonder if Na Zhan is his real half brother or if the story the ML found out about Na Zhan's mother coming to the palace bearing a child and his father accepting them meant Na Zhan might have a different father. The drama does not elaborate on this again.

I agree, it's a lot better than a lot of the high budget costume dramas, most of which which I've drop this year because of the plot. This drama has an interesting plot and the setting is very beautiful. Obviously it was limited by a tighter budget and smaller runtime. I know there are some frustrations with how the story went but overall this beats most of the costume dramas that were released this year. It's not trying too hard but it was engaging enough to keep me watching to the end and entice me to come here to comment as the drama went along.

This is the problem for having actors that are too young for these sorts of dramas. There's a distinct lack of skinship in this drama because of the ages of the actors.

It's getting tiresome watching the same situation repeated over and over AKA longing stares and jealous looks from the leads. Their story is not moving. Far too many sidestories and couples I don't give a damn about. I don't care about the GL plot, I don't like there's a dozen couple they are trying to cram in this drama, I know this is 15 episodes but after 6 episodes in I'm feeling the plot is still at the introductory episodes.

Epic fail trying to make me sympathize with the ending of Rou Wen's sidekicks. Deserved 1000 times over

How long did HBS and Rou Wen loiter around Sangjiang finding entrance that Huo Qingyun was able to caught up with them? Apparently that place was not so remote after all.

Ji Ling Chen should honestly be the 2ML here. His character is much more developed and he's got much better presence than 2ML. It's not even close.

I just knew that tw*t Guo'er would come back and make trouble. A deserve ending for her.

From the rating's you'd think you are watching a masterpiece but this is only slightly better than their previous drama.

I'm getting tired of watching the leads constantly getting manhandled by those loansharks. I'm not into sadomasochism to watch these kinds of passive leads who let people roughshod them. This is suppose to be a gangster drama and one of them is even a jailbird.

Aside from the 2 ML's, Earn, Ohm and Mick I'm having trouble remembering who many of these boys are. One scene their showing some boy longingly looking or flirting with another student and then some other boys show up and then my head is already spinning because I don't remember them.

Their scenes are too few, scattered and juxtaposed that trying to recognize who is who is a problem. It's not even because of the popular joke about Asians looking alike as I have no problem with that as I'm Southeast Asian myself but the time they have been introduced and developing their backstory have not been enough for most people to instantly recognize most of them. This is an issue I have with this drama.

I wouldn't consider that other consort particularly bad. She is more silly than malicious so I kinda understood how she felt wanting to kill 2ML, having to served him as a maid, who then proceeded to loot her dowry and treasures. Still a funny scene though.

I'm liking the dynamics between the ML and FL here. Usually I see the leads all being lovey lovey or at each other throats in drama land but here they show a more nuanced development in their relationship.

This drama has more hot scenes than the all C-dramas I've watched the past year. I actually like C-dramas being tame in comparison to Western productions but it's also nice to see a drama with a bit more sensuality and playfulness without becoming obscene.

This once a day release is not good for my patience.
