Rarely come across a drama that deserves a 10 but this one takes the cake right now. It’s perfect so far. Like…
if you're up for something longer and getting to see even more depth in ZLH's acting, i highly highly recommend Story of Kunning Palace. It's his most complex character to date imo, and the plot is well resolved despite the various plot twists! (happy ending too!!)
The intro animation is soo cute. And half way through and seeing 2 such calm personality leads is really healing…
if you notice carefully the couple in the intro animation changed postures 3 times throughout the series according to the stage of their relationship. i love these little details heh
I don't think I understand what makes a 'healing drama'. I have the obvious pedantic understanding, but it's a…
hmm i think 'healing' can be pretty subjective to define - are the characters getting healed along the way or are the audience the ones getting healed? for me, i think these 2 definitions has been fulfilled by TBT.
perhaps you don't feel much healing in the characters because their 'traumas' and hurts are not very big or delved deeply per se? compared to cases like first frost or shows like meet yourself. but both ML & FL gave each other the courage to love again.
personally i relate with the overarching theme of this show alot. i'm approaching my 30s with no partners in sight. it's not like i dont want to love/be loved, but i just simply dont have much courage to put myself out there and try - not because of past experiences like the characters but just because i tend to overthink alot. I'm personally healed by smth i didnt know was broken through certain lines in this drama. it emphasises alot of accepting and loving yourself first before you can love others (like Suye, who has clearly reflected and accepted his failed first love, is able to chase Xifan so commitedly). And also that a failed rs in the past doesn't mean love is hopeless. Reflect on the past and learn more about yourself/what you're looking for, it doesn't hurt much to give love another try
Her name is Zhang Yiling in the novel, her presence was totally omitted in the drama haha. She's not evil though, both Suye and her could talk amicably when they met again
I am watching episode 25. I don’t think He Suye needed that guilt trip from the junior. There was no way the…
i love how it's a very real scenario though, it made me ask myself what i would do if i were in his position, and i concluded that i'd make the same decision as Suye.
they end up talking soon after though, xifan did apologise for her emotions and he explained his position
Exactly. No more looking forward for everyday anymore. It's left me empty and sad suddenly. Don't know how much…
there's a reason why TBT was voted as the #1 healing romance novel, i completely understand why when u have HSY 😭 the crew and actors really brought the script alive especially ZLH!!
I've liked his school modern dramas (though i'm a sucker for his costume dramas, this man was BORN for guzhuang omg) but he does modern romance so wellllllllll. I'm glad he mentioned during the fanmeet that he would try to take up more modern scripts in the future since TBT is received so well!
Also yes agreed on his first first billing, i hope producers and directors look at him even more kindly from now on, he's a treasure who's so humble and keeps improving himself!
A beautiful drama. i mean it, the flowers, the ost, the vibe, the wedding, their love.. everything was beautiful.…
apparently the crew spent 3 days just prepping the flower petals (separating them by hand) and setting up the wedding venue. They really are not sparing any efforts till the end!
feeling so bittersweet bc it's over 😭😭 i've been savoring the last episodes but there's no more Su Fan to look forward to everyday..
honestly though, i'm not kidding when i say this will probably my #1 comfort drama of all time. some may argue that He Suye's character is unrealistic bc he's too green of a flag but come on, The Best Thing showed us how beautiful love can be. Love doesn't need to be so complicated and "deep" for it to be beautiful - everyone and anyone deserves to at least feel those tingly butterflies.
The end notes are so so beautiful, to love yourself first before anything. The OSTs are impeccable, they set the tone and vibe of the scenes amazingly, Niu niu and ruo han are such good kissers and they embodied their roles so well. Ahhhhh I can gush for days about this show :')
This is Niu's first proper modern romance drama and man he blew everyone away. While i love hengdian holding him hostage (Zhu Yu pls finish filming soon I want to meet General Xie!!), he proved to be versatile enough to act other genres too.
The promotions for this drama is going great, ratings are higher than anyone expected for a small ip and the casts are gaining recognition for their acting. Life is good :)
He suye and Shen Xifan, please be happy always!!!!!
i'm watching this drama, episode 37. The ML and 2nd ML standing to the side while there is full on fight going…
hmm personally i found that scene to be really believable especially since this wasn't the only instance where he had to depend on his bodyguards to protect him. Yes he was raised by Pingnan a war lord but they did mention he was mainly raised and worked for him as a strategist and not a fighter. Throughout the drama they portray xie wei to always be with his beloved qin, books and quick wit - the epitome of a scholar.
I do think it's really well thought out and realistic that both xie wei and zz were shown to be 'weak' and have their guards protect them since both were written to mainly have their brains as swords.
But well, there's always the possibility that sure xie wei learnt martial arts when he was younger but chose not to continue practicing it, thus he knew he wasn't a match for the well-trained xingwu guards/assassins. tomato tomato, i personally don't think it's a plot hole
6 episodes/week (broadcasts thursday-saturday), but the first 8 episodes were released on the premiere day. 1 May will have the last 3 episodes released instead of 2 since there's 31 episodes in total.
Is there any love triangle or crazy villian in this drama( because f*ck those) and in which ep main lead starts…
no love triangle or crazy villain! you can tell from the start that the leads are endgame :') and ML officially confesses in ep 18 but tbh they're practically stuck like glue since early episodes when they found out they were childhood friends so there's plenty of sweet moments since early on!
same here! i created an account just so i can comment.. can't help but swoon over the ML and FL.. they look so…
oh wow! comments said that google translate works well for the novel so maybe ill check it out soon! it's interesting that you prefer the drama (based on the teaser) over the novel, it's usually the other way round haha!
And yeah... subs can take a while, i'm fortunate enough to be able understand mandarin but i do get the frustration when watching medical/crime shows in raw, too many jargons so i still need subs ???
6.5 > 6.7 > 6.8
congrats team!!
