Ye def. I've learnt the best is to ignore the dialogues and just consider the shots perhaps. Or maybe takeaway the main theme. So for the base of Ep 35 preview someone gets preggo but we ignore the dialogues one way or another cuz its misleading
Saw the recent netflix trailer and it has me hypeddddddd. I haven't seen a Korean fantasy before - mainly read manhwas of such a genre. I am veryyyy excited :D
Wuxia and xianxia are fantasy genres that derive on a mixture of several concepts, religions - not just exclusive to China, - and cultures put together, and their characterisation is ofc some prominent elements: Wuxia has martial arts as its central, and Xianxia with prominence in cultivation etc.
But just because there are names to these mixtures in Chinese light novel & drama culture, doesn't imply that if another country decides to create a mixture of similar elements alongside their culture's prominent elements that its stealing from a concept. You could say they're inspired or influenced but there is no stealing.
I recommend you check out Legend of the Northern blade, a martial arts story deriving heavily on Korean historical elements, but also other East Asian cultures - hence fantasy. You could say that's basically 'wuxia' since the prominence is martial arts but does that mean the author of that manhwa stealing wuxia?? no.
Mixing martial arts, historical culture & fantasy is not exclusive to Chinese culture. While yes, given Korean culture has been heavily influenced historically there are similarities in aspects of attire, martial arts styles, and some other aspects to Chinese wuxia dramas. But that doesn't mean that this mixture = stealing a concept.
really hoping they do sth like Mr Queen and maybe have some special episode. I feel like things were cut out of the last ep for time constraints so it would be great to see it perhaps an epilogue like peeps on here

i think high ratings don't always guarantee a show that is spectacular & flawless as its often a matter of personal tastes and how many out there seemed to find the show to their taste and reflect it! for example, #2 highest rated is Untamed, and although i'm pretty sure its a great show thats loved by many, i personally am trying to binge it and am not entirely enjoying it as much others seem to have, or the high rating seems to suggest
so ig at times its best to just ignore the higher rating of a show when watching. but glad you might consider watching S2 of this show!!

While I am hit with the feels of the first drama I personally don't wish to see a second season rip. Just my own opinion but the drama wraps up so well, addresses most issues and gives us something worth the 59 episodes, so watching all that happen over again in a modern setting seems...a lil hard to believe? i felt the same with Ashes of Love and know I wouldn't want that having a second season either.
but if this becomes reality and y'all get to watch, have fun y'all! if it does turn out worth the watch, i'll see oop
on another note, a valid point was brought up o_O why go thru tribulation again? wasn't 10th the last one, and they kinda made up for their mistakes??

a mood. when i heard about Song Song couple and some other couples that ended despite the news of dating post drama i've been O_O about this its so cute...my hopeless heart is gonna be devastated if things go downhill ;;
whoaaaaa I feel like such a proud hooman seeing Penthouse cast up there ehehe captivated by their characters throughout the drama (can't wait for finale EPs > ~<) altho i understand some might find it all over-the-top it IS a makjang, I sure as hell felt the dramatic anger/pain/fear/suspense
The trope/concept they're going for is definitely very stereotypical - aka the pimple & glasses is ugly, makeup is pretty. but from reading the webtoon i can say for certain that such a choice in plot is on purpose to bring forth their cliché romance story with "looks dont equal personality" kind of message.
they're mainly sticking to what the webtoon is putting forth so i wouldn't read too much/worry that they're possibly portraying a wrong message.

Hmmm i'd disagree with the fact that the production was bad and the characters were unnecessary.
Not sure what you've watched but uhhhh I think this drama had way better production than so many popular kdramas out there. Long pauses & awkward silences, plus looking at each other blankly???? Welcome the world of kdramas, where this scene/shot is a recurring theme no matter how great the production.
I find that in a drama thats also tackling the additional issue of mental health/psychiatric issues the side characters do a pretty good job of serving their purpose in both, bring forth side stories that blend into the main plot, and often times contribute to the development of the main leads.
