This is my first time enjoying the plot over just the romance aspect. (Usually I tend to favor the romance development and if that aspect is good, then even if the plot may be subpar, I won't mind. But for this show, I wasn't pulled by the romance much.) Although I do think the story balances the plot and romance well, I still found myself sometimes skipping over the romance scenes. I guess I was just more intrigued about the trials and investigations. Of course despite skipping, I still grasped their romantic development very well and understood their significance toward one another, so you can assume I'm just that good at reading the romance or the other way to view this is the romance may be too predictable. Either way this can be interpreted doesn't really decrease that their romance was still sweet.
This is my first drama with Suzy. As a kdrama fan who's been watching on/off since the early 2000s/2010s, I never got around to watching her dramas, but I've heard of the critiques on Suzy's acting and I can see why. Sometimes her emotional scene does feel a little stiff and her voice is what raises while her facial expression remains rather calm. But overall, the performance is still good enough to deliver the story.
I don't mind the comedy much, it added just enough flavor and not too overwhelming that it ruins the seriousness of the genre.
I mean, it was alright. Comparing this to the webtoon/novel is what will ruin your perception of the show. Because nothing will ever be as good as the source material anyway, so might as well try to view this objectively.
The cgi is probably the worst aspect but by Korean media standards, it's probably decent? π€·ββοΈ It started alright but in the later fighting scenes that require a lot of motion and action, the quality is visibly bad. It looks like they just gave up.
The team-up feels forced somehow, I barely know them. I guess it's because they didn't have much background, and most of their characterization is told through Dok-ja as one liners. The movie is definitely packed with good things and it feels like there's something important to tell, but that's just the thing, it's too stuffy in movie format. Maybe it could have benefitted as a multiple episode series, but then again, webtoon/novel fans will probably tear that apart too so it's a lose-lose situation for the production team.
Advice for the people wondering if they should keep watching for something "interesting" to happen. If by ep6 you are still bored, then I have no hope that you will be interested as the story progresses/continues to unfold. The plot, the body swap, the mystery of the Crown Princess, the revenge and politics, the comedy, the yearning, the relationship/romance development, etc. All of this has already been laid to captivate and make people interested to know more. We're already reaching half the entire series (14 eps total), there's really nothing else to cling onto that could be "interesting" if you haven't already been interested by those that I just mentioned.
Clearly what this show has set up and provided is something you're fundamentally not interested in, so don't waste your time being bored, just drop and go watch something elseπ
Maybe try again another time if you have fomo later. But for now, if you're not intrigued by what has been given thus far, you're better off not watching the rest.
I don't get the rating and the complaints at all?? I haven't laughed this much since BAYM! Loving the role swaps,…
Unfortunately, not all shows will fit everyone's tastes. Hopefully this show gains more traffic with the audience that do like it and ratings go up soon. But honestly, MDL ratings is something to take with a grain of salt. Some shows with very high ratings I didn't enjoy, and some shows with lower ratings I enjoyed quite a bit. It's hit or miss sometimes. People who are open to watch a show based on substance, rather than a rating, will definitely enjoy this show π
It's so obvious U Hui and Yi Un care deeply for each other but the circumstance of their situations prevent them from achieving what they want. And in the midst of heated emotions, they say things that end up hurting the other. I can only hope U Hui will choose to join hands with them three, rather than work on her own against them and her father. She cannot achieve anything on her own, but if they work together, maybe they'll all get something out of it.
As for our main couple, things are finally picking up. Emotions are starting to fall into place. It's gonna be messy but I know it will be good π«π
Her "aunt" gave her ring to her adoptive parents. It was in a deleted scene but MBC put it on YouTube…
Oooh that's interesting. I just assume since the ring was on the dead body, that YiGang has them now and they're stored away safely. I didn't know there was a deleted scene of the Aunt giving it to the adoptive parents afterwards. If so, then I think it will definitley come up too. The rings are too important to simply ignore.
So currently everyone still believes the crown Princess is dead and Dal I is just some lookalike. They do have suspicions but don't have solid proof. I wonder how they're gonna figure it out she isn't just a lookalike, but she IS the dead crown Princess.
Here are my thoughts on how it could go down.
1. Maybe the Aunt showing up will solidify her identity. This was someone closest to the crown Princess who disappeared with her. If she is shown to be with Dal I, it becomes obvious two people with the same faces as the disappeared individuals cannot be a coincidence. 2. I was thinking, like how Dal I accessed YiGang's memories, maybe while their souls are switched, he will access her locked memories too and figure it out. 2.5. Dal I is starting to reveal personal information about herself to YiGang, maybe the more she talks about herself and how she came to lose her memories, it will naturally lead to more solid connection to the crown Princess. 3. Han Cheol will want her dead again. I don't think he believes she truly died back then. His adamance on wanting her dead once again will probably lead to YiGang wanting to protect her even more and suspect there is more to this lookalike than just HanCheol wanting to secure the crown Princess spot for his daughter. 4. The Red Thread. Maybe they learn more about this and how it works and figure out the thread ties soulmates from start to finish, so there is no way the crown Princess and Dal I happen to have the same face but are two different people.
What are you guy's theories on how it could go down?
i don't see how her being cute in an interview proves her acting skill lol
Yes, which is why while criticism on her acting is definitely valid (every good actor/actress should take criticism and grow from it) but using that to attack her looks and personality is too much. At least watch her interviews and how she interacts with other casts/people to have an informed opinion π
Does anyone still think putting spoiler alerts on their posts is important to keep details from those who have…
Exactly. Also just the fact those kinds of people have absolutely no idea what even is "spoiler". Spoiler isn't "I haven't seen it, so everyone else should put spoiler." By that logic, every single person talking about literally any show should have a spoiler warning because someone out there has most definitely not watched what you have watched. Put spoiler warning when you talk about Boys Over Flowers, not everyone has watched it π€ͺπ€‘

The kinds of comments people have said isn't just about her acting. You may not know but people are assuming all bunch of nasty things about her, like she has big connections that's why she's getting roles, she's a b**ch because she looks like that, someone even said her eyebrows are ugly, all this because of her acting. Most comments bleed beyond just her acting and is insulting her actual self irl, and I'm just here to say she is actually cute. Get it?
i understand it may not be easy to destroy high status people in politics, but after what Jin Mu pulled in s1, given what went down in front of everyone as witness, you'd think that would be it for him, but he's STILL the main bad guy in s2? he spit in everyone's face and just went on his merry way continuing scheming. bruh. This cockroach is very hard to get rid of.
I'm currently still watching on ep 10. Just wanted to say honestly, the bits of comedy really saved this one for me. The story started out very serious and dark, and I was kind of not into it. But the moment MuDeok grabbed onto the bridge and hung off dangling, it finally grabbed my attention. I don't think I would have continued watching the show if not for that moment. Sometimes a little bit of comedy does bring the whole show together.

Whether you chose to not watch/keep up with the recent releases or you come at a later time, it is still within expectation that everyone else will be talking about it, so why are people not self-aware that they are responsible for themslves?
I haven't watched The Glory, if I go to the comment section right now, I expect to see everyone talking about the show and its details. I don't expect any of them to put spoilers because the show is already available to the public and majority already saw the show. As someone who has not seen the show, why should I expect others to shield me from spoiling myself? I simply do not read the comments or I read them knowing I will be spoiled. I don't get the mentality of "I haven't seen something, you are responsible for shielding me." Where is the self awareness.
If you are curious about the show and announce yourself to be a new watcher, of course people will and should put spoilers when they reply to your specific comment. But everyone else who has already seen the show posting their own comments (like op) about the released content are not responsible to know who has and has not seen the show, because again, it is within expectation that majority will have seen the content already.

Reason was: The Historical genre should be applied to stories set before 1950.
This was quite informative, I didn't know each tag has specific criteria. So now we know βΊοΈ
