IS THIS DOOMED ROMANCE 😭😭

I did enjoy the manga quite a bit, which is why I'm a little let down I'm not as into this as I should. I believe 2D media and 3D media have different styles, so you kind of have to switch it up a bit, although not too much of course, in order to translate it well, and if they're unwilling to change or add to tweak for the 3D media, then this is just the unfortunate result I guess.

An example is Cherry Magic. I don't like the Manga at all (the pacing is weird and I couldn't get into it, had to drop it early on), but I loved the live action, because I thought the pacing was more cohesive.

I think it's cute but it feels just slightly too flat, especially from Minato. Absolutely gorgeous man but not a very charming character.

It is actually that simple. Audiences of School Trip has a greater liking to School Trip, compared to other BLs. This doesn't mean that objectively other BLs are bad, or that School Trip is better, it just means people have a preference for this type.

To address this supposed "biased fans", I wonder, you don't give all BLs the same scores across the board, do you? To say someone is biased, you claim they are being unfair. To be unbiased, you'd have to give every show you've watched the same score, to make it "fair", right? Did you give Where Your Eyes Linger the same score as See Your Love? 2gether as Kinnporche? Some BLs/shows you may not like, some BLs/shows you may like a lot, so you naturally give different scores. This is not bias, this is still preference. Do you think people giving 10/10 high scores are showing bias? What about you? Is your bias (unfairness) showing when you gave WYEL a 3.5 and SYL a 9.5? I personally gave WYEL a 9.5, which is the complete opposite of you, so what now? Which of us is the "correct" score when rating a BL? Which of us is "biased"? Answer is none, because the closest thing to a "correct" score is the gathering of everyone's score (their preferences) and giving out the average of those scores, which is the 8.7, that you see. Again, this is preference, not bias. As I've stated "😊 It is 8.7 because people liked it. It is very simple."

Anyway, hope that helps clarifying the point of preferences for you.

🤷‍♂️ ehh I don't mind new couples tbh. Jbls are pretty good at building chemistry/story with new actors. Kodai and Kan were both previously in different BLs before starring together in School Trip. Goes to show switching it up can create variety of stories with different flavors.

I hope people who questioned the rating of the prequal main story (like "why/how is this 8.7?") see how quickly the ratings for these special episodes shot up to 8.7 as well and understand there is an audience for everything, even if the specific show is not your preference 😊 It is 8.7 because people liked it. It is very simple.

Watarai is just a big clingy jealous puppy

You know how scary a show is gonna be when they overcompensate with scary sound effects in non-scary moments to make it "scary". This is not horror, this is "how many times can we make viewers squamish with gore and typical loud sound jumpscares."

The characters all lack common sense and seem to act on stupidity alone. I was rooting for the evil spirit at some point. Something to note is Thai Culture is a deeply spiritual culture, probably even more so if you're from the small town/community rural farm lands away from big busy cities, so I refuse to believe any of the characters would deny the possibility of a possession or challenge the idea of a supernatural entity targeting them. The way it took them forever to ever suspect it was a ghost or that it was a possession is beyond me.

This was just a mess of bad decision making.

I'm glad you got something out of the movie. Unfortunately, I wish I got something too, aside from the good visuals.

I'm not upset at your difference of opinion regarding the actual show, please don't misunderstand that. Express your opinion however you please, that is your opinion to have.

What I'm actually replying to you about is how you don't understand the score simply reflects the majority votes. You ask why 8.7, correct? You don't understand how a show you think is superficial and has okay chemistry is 8.7, correct? You wonder what makes it special? Correct?

And my reply to you is even if it is not up to your stanard/cup of tea, others still enjoyed it, that is why the score reflects majority votes, that is why the score is 8.7. If you ever wonder why a show is any score again, remember that the score reflects majority votes, not just YOUR vote.

You don't understand how people cast a vote, which then affects the score? You think the 8.7 just exists because MDL randomly put in any score? You don't think people actually liked this enough to give it a good score? 😕 Like any show, if you like it, you will put in a good score. It doesn't have to be "special", it just has to be liked by people who like it. And this is up to the individual, you cannot determine for them whether they should and should not like something.

Is it that shocking that the score is 8.7? Granted this may not be YOUR cup of tea, but I really think the idea that when a show isn't up to YOUR standard, suddenly everyone else who enjoyed it doesn't exist anymore and the score has to be false or isn't deserved. That there has to be something "special" going on.

I just don't understand this kind of mentality. Go put a good score on the show you like, go encourage people to watch the show you like, and let the show speak for itself. I personally came to watch School Trip because it's being posted all over my social media feed and I happen to enjoy the show. If I didn't like it, I would put in a poor score. But does that mean now suddenly everyone else who did like it, should also dislike it because I dislike it? No.

Whether or not you agree with the score does not mean you can undermine it as if the score doesn't reflect majority people who did enjoy it. This happens everytime any show has a good score, as if people don't understand how scoring works 🙄.

Honestly? maybe i just "don't get it" but I dont get it lol. The dancing was absolutely supurb and beautiful and I do see the tension between the main leads, but storyline felt incoherent. Like a mix match of intense emotions just thrown together and not much else going on. Feels like there's a deeper message I'm not quite receiving just based off the acting alone. I finished this 4 days ago and let my emotions about what I had watched marinate but this is still my feelings days after. I enjoyed my time but I'm a little dazed and confused. Maybe you need to read the original source to "get it"? I dunno. I feel like that shouldn't have to be the case.

I think their dynamic makes sense. Hioki is the average NPC student who blends in with the background while Watarai is super popular. Plus they're in their first gay relationship. There's still a lot of unease about what is appropriate for their relationship.

Give it to ep3 at least. If you're still not into by then, you can drop.

Honestly this is such a weird and confusing thing to say 🤔. Nothing is "unfair" about people giving their votes to shows they like or dislike. The score is a reflection of people's preferance. I for one am not giving a show about drugs and psychological manipulation a higher score than a fluffy cute story about youths. That's just MY preference. Other's may disagree and that is absolutely why we like different things and give out different scores. So to say School Trip being a 8.7 score is "unfair" because TMS is 8.5 would be to disregard that people have a preference at all.

Machida taking on a new BL role involving kissing doesn't really confirm anything related to Cherry Magic. He could have simply changed his mind and want to do kisses now, vs in the past where he didn't want to. Unless you were there when they wrote and signed off on the script with Machida and Akaso, you really don't know "who" is the issue. It's easy to look at 2025 Machida kissing another man and think 2020 Machida definitely would have done the same, but fact of the matter is nobody knows for sure what was agreed upon for CM.

If that's not an actual fact confirmed by contract leaks, you really shouldn't be making bold claims like that since you don't know what was agreed upon in the behind the scenes.

Machida starring in 10dance kissing another man is irrelevant to what he did during Cherry Magic because 1. both shows have different contracts and scripts. 2. Actors also grow and change their minds about which scripts they accept.

Targeting fault toward Akaso now just because Machida chose a more challenging script is really unwarranted.

The fact that Kan adlib the third kiss in ep10 and was so enthusiastic with those kisses in the special, this man truly loves his job 😂👌cast this guy in another BL asap lol

Well, I didn't expect anything crazy but those kisses were still underwhelming to say the least 😂😂 Park Shin Hye would be proud!

Overall, an enjoyable watch. Jbls always hit 🥰
