Watched the first episode. Jeez. It is not bad, but sure as hell not in one league with Nirvana in Fire. Too much…
I'd also compare The Princess Wei Young to Legend of MiYue based solely on descriptions alone. They're pretty similar imo (based on where you get the description from); well the part where the female rises to power anyways.

Haven't actually seen Legend of MiYue though but I'd love to, except there are no subs for it... And I do agree, people over hype this drama too much or are too defensive when someone say's it bad.. I don't mind the "bad" make-up and what not because the plot is good enough for me to want to continue.

Lol, that's what I first thought as well but I'm over it. Not worrying about it makes Chinese drama/ movies more enjoyable.
