I've been obsessing over this series for the past month I just stare into the distance thinking about the rich…
I'm watching F4T with my partner and the other night he told me he was having difficulty stopping some bad, intrusive thoughts so I said, "just think about Thyme poking Gorya's wound." And like five minutes later he turned to me and said it helped. 😂
So… Apparently a lot of you like it. Unfortunately, I didn't feel the same way. I just felt like this kind of…
I'd like to give you some more to think about regarding "ugly" Hana...
She wasn't ugly. To me, the episode made it clear that OF COURSE she wasn't actually ugly. She was just a normal teenage girl. But, in a moment of pure teenage cruelty and thoughtlessness, Thyme echoed the random other teen boy and called her ugly.
It doesn't matter how NOT true it is in reality, because for teenage Hana, it became a defining moment that led to her body dysmorphia and misplaced feelings towards Thyme. Think about how many skinny people develop anorexia, etc. These things aren't based in reality, they're based in a warped perception of self (Hana's perception of herself).
To me, there is no "mixed message about what ugly is" because I didn't see the show telling me she was actually ugly. I just saw some teens being casually cruel, and I saw the ramifications of just how devastating something like that can be for a person.
It's so true to life, and so sad. But also so nice to see handled so beautifully in F4.
One of my favorite things about the scene is that Thyme doesn't say something like, "I don't even remember saying that" because I 100% believe he doesn't remember. It was a nothing moment in his life and an everything moment to her. He might not remember, but he doesn't even for a second try to excuse his behavior. Amazing.
Hm. I don't particularly see anything valid in your criticism personally. Feel what you choose to feel, obviously,…
Oh I get it. My last comment about "internet discussion" styles was to both of us haha, since i did it first.
The comments on this forum have been super, even when ppl disagree. So, again, I apologize for seeming rude or confrontational. It was a function of poor communication, not intention.

Lol whoops. Judging by the tone of your comment, I didn't do a good job of making sure my reply wouldn't be read as an attack. It's hard to have differing thoughts about a comment without needing to put kid gloves on to comfort the OP (this is not an attack either! It's just a basic fact of writing on the internet). I've been spoiled with all the awesome discussions I've had up to this point on this forum, which have honestly felt insulated from the usual "internet discussion" styles of reddit or twitter, even with disagreements.
So, for real... my bad. I'll step out of the discussion rather than risking more bad feelings.
can someone explain this scene to me? when Thyme says “if you don’t reply, you’re dating me”, is dating…
He was asking her to be his girlfriend. He tried to ask it before she fell asleep (saying something like, "so you'll have to stay next to me" which is typical dramaspeak for "be my girlfriend"). Then, after she was asleep, he kept wanting to ask her to be his girlfriend so he poked her face and tried the whole "if you don't reply" thing.
Someone else pointed out that in episode 3, Thyme agrees to cancel Gorya's red card while basically asleep and still remembers the promise the next day, so it stands to reason that when Gorya "agrees" to be his girlfriend (by making an affirmative sounding groan in her sleep, lol) he would think she would stand by it too.
While watching this you really have to suspend your disbelief at all times omg. None of the actions of the students…
Hm. I don't particularly see anything valid in your criticism personally. Feel what you choose to feel, obviously, but you might want to reflect on whether there is any substance to your criticism
"Suspending disbelief" This is literally the 1st thing necessary for enjoying any fiction. Goblin (fantasy set in the real world), Vincenzo (no fantasy yet everything that happens is fantastical), Love and Redemption (fully a fantastical world). Even a slice of life school romance like A Love So Beautiful requires suspending disbelief over how one-track each lead is with their love for each other.
"A product of their creation" This part is interesting to discuss, but tbh likely not from someone who has dropped the show because they haven't seen immediate resolution.
The thing that really makes me scratch my head and LOL at your comment, though, is that you think the richest boys in town, with parents who are in government and international business, and entertainment etc etc etc, would ever EVER end up in jail. Talk about suspending disbelief hahahaha
What we are getting is rich character development, what you seem to want is punitive wish-fulfillment.
I'm not going to try to talk you out of your (honestly, totally valid) opinion of the story but I'll say this:…
Hahah ^^
After getting my partner to watch F4 with me, and showing him clips from BOF and MG, I also had him watch episode 1 of Extraordinary You since he'd finally get the humor.
Thyme hiding Gorya when he brought her home. This intensify how scary his mother is, that Thyme is actually afraid…
Oh lol I didn't even think of it that way. I thought, d'aww what a dork, he's told no girls in his room after dark and he listens (though we obviously know he's never brought a girl home before haha)
I hate guys who:1. Treat girls as their second option/ rebound.2. Think they are God's Gift to Women (No sir,…
While I'm here for your intensity, I still can't help but get excited to see how well the drama will show us the depth of Ren's spiral. Just like with Hana, I anticipate feeling repulsed by his behavior at the same time as I empathize with why he is behaving that way.
I don't know about you, but I absolutely had a phase in my youth where I tested my own feelings and boundaries by acting in ways that I never did before and never did after. One of the reasons this phase was as short-lived as it was (and that I never did anything too egregious or that led to broken friendships) was because of a straight-forward conversation I had with a beloved friend. So, yeah, I feel like I'm gonna relate to Ren HARD and can't wait for his moment of growth.
I'm really liking this version of Hana Yori Dango, I think this one is my favorite adaptation even though it isn't…
Hard DISAGREE lol.
As for me, I was so freaking happy that F4 jumped us right into the meat of the story and didn't belabor the set-up for how Gorya ended up at the school. It's a scholarship (don't really care what for tbh). Cool. Good. Moving on.... seriously, it was perfect! Compare this to over 20 minutes of BOF with Jan-di riding her bike through campus and all the discussion about having her enroll in the school (yawn).
I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around why you'd say that *knowing* a fact about Gorya but not seeing it for yourself is considered a gap in the plot.
Your comment makes it seem like you want a scene with her practicing a sport just for the sake of seeing her practice a sport, which I just don't get. F4T is superior to so many dramas in part because it has almost no extraneous scenes. This storytelling is TIGHT and I love it. (though I've watched enough dramas to always low-key anticipate a fully fan-service basketball game randomly inserted at some point haha).
If the story decides to do anything with Gorya and sports, I feel confident that it will have more purpose than simply proving to us that she does, in fact, play sports.
I'm gonna say it again: the way they flesh out the characters is so good. All the characters seem relevant and…
I liked that we got to see Kaning at her school, and meet her dad. I know it was mostly the PPL setup, but I liked that we got to see her as existing in her own spaces, not just revolving around Gorya.
Regarding the OST comment: has there ever been a more ear-wormy or annoying theme song than the BOF's aaaalllllllmooooooooost paaaaarrrraaaaadiiiiice .... well now it's in my head again whoops.

Your comment seems to imply that Japan doesn't like/make BL dramas, but maybe I misread.. ?

Sign me up.
I think because he's just joking at that moment, so when it seems like she actually agreed, it wasn't just a joke anymore
