Another thing I appreciate too is how Thai celebs are normally treated with respect and given some space and privacy…
I might speculate that the toxic BL fans are more interested in fetishizing gay relationships than simply enjoying a romance, and since they're often in an insular fandom community, they might simply reinforce the feeling and belief that they each have the right to not just fantasize about, but also have agency over the actors' lives. Fetishes are just fine UNTIL they start affecting real life people negatively.
I've even seen some BL fans who don't become hurtful netizens that still have difficulty understanding that their love/obsession with BL doesn't have anything to do with celebrating homosexuality and doesn't make them not homophobic either.
That said, TBH I find most fandoms pretty toxic. Anyone shipping actors irl crosses a line for me that I find incomprehensible-bordering-on-despicable. Even the few people commenting below about Bright and Tu's IG pictures make me uncomfortable. Not because they are saying anything egregious, but rather because the line between toxic and non-toxic shipping in fandom isn't discernible at a glance.
I asked 2 days if people here were Team Thyme or Team Ren. The updated results are Team Thyme: Team Ren = 14:1.…
Hm I wonder. What kind of reasons do they have for being teamRen?
I think that the scene when Thyme gave Gorya the hair clippers and said, "or you can back down" was the moment I realized I wasn't going to hate Thyme like I hate the ML in the other versions. It made him seem a lot more sympathetic, like he was being carried away just as much as the rest of them were and mostly just didn't know how to back down. We had already seen the set-up with his mother, too, so I knew how much was happening under the surface. It made me excited to see his whole arc and to get to the OTP pairing.
Then, when Thyme calmly handed Ren's handkerchief back to Gorya, I fully boarded their ship. So I'm not about to disembark just cuz Ren is a sweet puppy dog.
Ugh, almost at no point did Jandi choose the path of "less cringe" either. Which is so confusing to me, since…
When they first showed us Gorya's family, I was fully prepared to have to skip through their scenes so I wouldn't be annoyed, because of Jandi's family lolol.
Instead, Gorya's family scenes are some of my absolute favorites! I love them and want more.
To be honest, I am so so sympathetic to Ren in this situation. I don't think he even knows how he feels and I…
Oh but I find that part the most sympathetic!
How confusing for him to figure out how to act on his feelings when he doesn't even fully understand his own feelings. It makes total sense that his behavior is flawed and a little crappy.
Whereas Thyme's feelings are delineated, Gorya and Ren's are clearly not.
They have so much to figure out about themselves and their feelings for each other, and they kind of need to figure it out together WITHOUT Thyme imo. (when Gorya lies about seeing Ren, I don't think she's trying to coddle Thyme. I think she doesn't want to talk about Ren in front of him, since she has confused feelings for the both of them).
I honestly just feel like its really murky water for them all to wade through, and it's making for super compelling character moments (rather than how I usually feel - that the SML is using the FL and being a dick to the ML just cuz).
PS. Do you actually think any of them are talking about this on social media, considering how aware they all are of Thyme's mother's disapproval? I kind of feel like they wouldn't, and I doubt Gorya does much posting with that phone lol.
some people sometimes mix up character POV and audience POV.technically Gorya didn't lie about where she left…
I was thinking a similar thing....
From Ren's POV, when he left for France, Gorya had only ever had bad interactions with Thyme. Then he comes back and all of a sudden Thyme is calling Gorya his girlfriend! Like, what??
I love how realistic and rational these characters are. Jandi was a one-dimensional, really cringy character who…
Ugh, almost at no point did Jandi choose the path of "less cringe" either. Which is so confusing to me, since so rarely in Kdramas do any characters act THAT over-the-top.
'Bright' is such a bad actor! Annoying to watch in this drama.
Since you've already had a lot of comments on this, this might clarify the reactions ...
Anyone who is only making a comment about Bright (specifically his acting or his looks) is indistinguishable from all the Bright antis who keep jumping into this forum just to be anti-Bright. It's hard to say whether you are one of those antis, or whether your whole intention is solely to be anti-Bright, but regardless, your comment is functionally no different from the others.
Hence all the comments that seem to be coming from people who clearly feel that it's annoying to see YET ANOTHER non-comment that is only a vague dislike of Bright.
Btw, I feel the complete opposite as you lol. I think Bright is fantastic as Thyme. That said, I hate Lee Minho (who played the Thyme character in the Korean adaptation), so I get the feeling of hating an actor in a role and just needing to express that opinion. haha.
I want to ask, if ren was serious when he asked gorya to date him behind thymm back.Or he was just kidding.
To be honest, I am so so sympathetic to Ren in this situation. I don't think he even knows how he feels and I find that super relatable. His behavior feels honest, even if confused.
When he left for France, he and Gorya were close enough that he kissed her on the forehead. Whereas the only interaction he saw between Gorya and Thyme were bad ones.
Now, he comes back from France and all of a sudden Thyme is calling Gorya his girlfriend??? From Ren's perspective it's a little bit like "What the hell?"
Also, Ren has clearly had *some* kind of feeling for Gorya the whole time, so I don't believe that he is purely trying to use Gorya to soothe his bruises. I think he just has conflicting feelings and doesn't know how to act on them.
So much respect for the director! And this awesome edit explains so perfectly the meaning of honey badger as a…
Hah! My first thought when lilili mentioned Honey Badger = Thyme was "YES, especially the sleeping part" lololol. I was absolutely thinking of this video.
should i start watching it now or wait for it to end?
Definitely now imo.
It'll be too easy to miss out on the subtleties of each episode (this forum is full of these discussions each week) if you just binge it for the story.
The understanding I got from the monologue is that Mira didn't break up with him, he left because he realized…
This topic has given me another thought too...
I have a very difficult time taking the side of the "friendzoned" person. Regardless of whether they were truly dating or not, it's easy to acknowledge that Ren had more extreme feelings for Mira.
One of the moments in my life that has left the most lasting scar was when my best friend told me she was in love with me. I loved her so much as a friend, and I loved our friendship more than any of my other friend or romantic relationships, but then when she finally moved on and got a girlfriend... I lost my best friend. All her feelings for me were wrapped in romantic love and when those feelings were gone, there was nothing left.
So. Yeah, I'm way more inclined to take Mira's side in this situation anyways.
The understanding I got from the monologue is that Mira didn't break up with him, he left because he realized…
Possibly I give Mira more crsit than she deserves, but I took it more like Mira was always honest with Ren about how she puts her ambition ahead of him (hence leaving him for Paris) and that when he shows up, she made room for him as a part of her life, but only one part.
When Ren decides he isn't a big enought part of her life, that's on him, not Mira. Her note to him seemed more like she knows what she can give him is not what he's looking for.
To me, this doesn't make Mira seem like she's leading him on at all. How is she to know that the piece she can offer him of herself wouldn't be enough until he leaves? And sending his sketchbook with the note is that acknowledgment.
Omg I didn't even recognize it was a honey badger till you pointed it out!Regarding Gorya drawing blood... I wonder?…
Again with "too simplistic" but I feel like it might just be the most straight-forward way to have a plushy bring pain. Like, without there being a safety pin, what harm could a plushy do? Bruise a knuckle on an eyeball?
I've even seen some BL fans who don't become hurtful netizens that still have difficulty understanding that their love/obsession with BL doesn't have anything to do with celebrating homosexuality and doesn't make them not homophobic either.

I'm sure almost everyone here knows the strugle of waiting for a day or more (or trying to watch sans subs).
It's a small thing, but it really makes me happy that I can wake up Saturday morning and immediately enjoy the next episode.

I can't wait for more Kaning/Kavin scenes, either, but I have been so pleased with the interactions they've given us so far. 🥰
