I do find this mother-daughter relationship as a theme super interesting, but what a way to end this drama. It seemed clear that Akiko had some serious issues, but she was instantly cured like it was no big deal. Her obsession seemed more spurred on by mental illness than love, and I wish that had been dealt with rather than sugarcoat the whole thing to end on a happy note.

So true! Also, another thing I've found to be very common in (k)dramas is a short burst of amnesia for one of the main characters. Memory loss? Np, it won't last.

I wasn't expecting much of this but I've found I've really enjoyed the 8 episodes so far and am eagerly anticipating the last two!

This is one of my favorite jdramas! I'm not at all into Hockey but I think that's not a requirement for a sport drama (or anime) if done well. I agree that one of its strengths is the trueness to the dialogue and interaction, definitely a bit of a rarity.

Randomly stumbled onto this and just watched the first ep. It's been a while since I've seen a jdrama this original, it felt like the quality of a single episode was of a feature-film level. Hope this keeps up!

The four main characters as well as most of the side-cast are interesting and the actors/tresses are well chosen. I thought the story and the humor was great, too. My main problem lies in the same problems most kdrama I've seen face: the outdrawn storyline that ends up being melodramatic and manipulative rather than feeling seriously genuine. And plot holes. It gets tiresome to cry for the same couple, over the same problem, over and over again. Stereotypical plot twists and formulas keep coming up, like the car-crash, the 'I'm leaving you for your own good', the rescue of the heroine from up in the mountains, etc. When you have as excellent a cast as this, why waste it on lazy directing/writing?

I can only agree on both choices for jdrama included here. I think I dropped Suki na hito at about the same point, exasperated by the constant back-and-forth drama and the stiffness in most of the cast. I was really surprised people thought Siren was so well-made, I thought it was fun to watch - mostly because of Nanao's character, but there were so many plot holes, ridiculousness in the story progression, and the characters were in my opinion so underdeveloped.

I'm finding this strangely addictive! It's so nice to see Watabe in a different role to his regular crime/detective parts and dramas.

I usually watch drama while having lunch (fried rice/stir fry of some kind). Otherwise it's usually coffee, tea, or popcorn.

Just watched the first episode and it had me crying. I very rarely cry to dramas, even the most sad/heartbreaking ones but this in just about an hour had me sobbing. I have a feeling I'm going to love this!

While I don't think the main leads have amazing acting skills, they have been suitably chosen for the roles. I liked seeing both Kame & Yamapi as well as Nanao & Fumiko together again in this drama (especially for the latter pair, in quite different circumstances). My favorite thing about this drama though was the solid cast of supporting characters, especially the character of Sadaoka stood out to me. A fun romcom if you're in the mood for that.
