So, is the ending good or bad, disappointing? This drama is sensitive to censorship. Usually the drama this big…
The Douban score dropped to 8.8. Many people were unhappy with the ending. I expected a more sanitized version, and I accepted how it ended. I was also glad that An Xin was not the person who brought the demise of Qiqiang. Although the ending was rushed, all the bad people got punished, but I couldn't figure out what happened to Secretary Wang and Secretary He. It seemed to me that the censors were sending a clear message to the CCP cadre that such corruption would lead to death penalties.
The series is easy to watch. Two things bother me: 1. What does the English title mean as it is grammatically incorrect? 2. Why do they use Datang costumes in the fictitious Dayong kingdom? They could have spent some pocket money and designed original ones.
Then wait for the sanitized version from Netflix. You never read any of the books of the trilogy. Just flash the…
Since we are wasting energy on your propaganda, I will continue. Xinjiang has been under Han rule or suzerainty for two thousand of the last twenty-two hundred years. Even Qocho idiquts, the only real Uyghur kings, were Han. Khizr Khoja converted them to Islam in the late 14th century. In one generation, they forgot they built many Buddhist statues and thought Tibetans built them. Uyghurs did the last genocide in Xinjiang over Oirats during the Qing Dynasty. I don't use any Apple products because I boycott forced labor in Xinjiang. I don't buy Xinjiang cotton and lavender because it is drying up the beautiful Tarim river as they did to Lop Nur. I want Dilraba to announce that she is a proud Uyghur publicly. I know I will never be able to go to Xinjiang in my lifetime. I miss Hotan in late May, the confluence of the white water of the Aksu and Yarkand Rivers, the Flaming Mountains, and Bagua City. I can present to you more than a hundred genocide/apartheid cases that are going on around the world right now. I can assure you that Uyghurs are going to survive the Han government. I worry more about the Tian Shan glaciers. Once they are gone (pretty soon), there won't be any water, and Xinjiang will be desolate. Since you are advocating the Taliban rule in Xinjiang it is your prerogative. It will take a complete defeat of China in a world war for that to happen. In the end, there will be only the Taklamakan desert. And that Uyghur word translates: You can get in but cannot get out. Just like our argument, it will take Alexander the Great to cut it.
I finally caught up with the show. Like The Godfather, it has three parts. The first one is the best, especially episodes 5-12. The second part is a classic gangster drama. The third one is about the criminal organization morphing into a legit business. After twenty years, An Xin has become smarter but also senile. He deliberately forgot about Mayor Zhao. Well, we'll know about it in five hours.
I was trying to find more about the story and discovered that the author, Liu Cixin's novel has pro-authoritarian,…
Then wait for the sanitized version from Netflix. You never read any of the books of the trilogy. Just flash the peace sign to the Trisolarians, especially in the second book. I know you didn't watch The Dune because the book was written by a neonazi. Actually, the vast majority of science fiction books are written by white supremacists because the genre allows them to mask their ideas. Why do you have to drag Uyghurs into this? Because of the Urumqi radiotelescope? Where have you been when Ma Zhancang impaled Timur Beg's head in front of the main mosque in Kashgar? Oh, I forgot, he belonged to Kuomintang, and you support Taiwan.
Ten episodes to go. It seems we are done with the past. Who is going to bring Gao Qiqiang down? If it is An Xin, the ending will be anticlimactic. He is such a loser. He squandered so many opportunities in the past while hurting everybody else around him, especially Meng Yu. The score on Douban is 9.1, and according to the comments, Zhang Yi and his lack of accent dragged the score down. I wonder whether the MDL score is going down because there is no free site available to watch, or there are other reasons. If there are, present them. Many low-quality shows have thousands of comments, but only 49 are here. I am still waiting for the hurricane if that is really the original title.
The drama is excellent in every regard. But it hasn't finished yet. The ending could still ruin everything. I am still about ten episodes behind the schedule as the drama is not binge-able, at least not for me. I have made up an ending I anticipate. The appeal of the drama is that the development is hard to predict. If the ending differs greatly from my anticipation, I may drop it.
I personally liked Out of Court better. It was a little lighter. Zhang Yi also reminds me of Luo Jin. The loan shark story applies to any country. The mystery of poor people and corrupt politicians is used by an ex-fishmonger. The cinematography is movielike. You don't need to watch reruns of The Godfather.
The first book is not scary compared to the Dark Forrest. But the music they play must be intimidating. My cat is so scared that she hides under the blanket when I watch the show.
Just call quality a misnomer. It is unbelievably bad. But after watching 40 episodes, I learned two things: computers are very consistent, even when they are horrible, and the human brain is highly adaptive. It is like learning a new language. As a non-Chinese, I had to learn a few hundred new characters and train myself to read Chinese and so-called English subtitles simultaneously to fill the gaps. Otherwise, I enjoyed the show a lot. I watched it because of Wan Qian. I was sad to see her demise. I think romance in the show is very realistic - nonexistent. I am still amazed that the show aired because it exposed so much corruption in CCP.
I am enjoying it despite horrendous subtitles. But I do have a similar style of storytelling, so my opinion may be biased. I like this show better than Wild Bloom. I think the title is incorrect. It should be Game of Smarts instead.
On YT, it is the worst I have seen. Besides literary translating characters' names, they do the same for idioms. Also, I have never seen so many f-words in a Chinese show. Maybe they do use the colorful language after all.
Ma Yi is infatuated with Liu Bing. Willow wants to get her old flame back despite his estranged wife being tough. The main characters have a problem working in the same company which supposedly prevents romance. The funniest part of the show is when the communist party cancels a business journal because they wrote about love instead of engines.
Watching it on Youtube is truly painful. This must be one of the worst auto-translation ever. If you are struggling let me give you a few pointers: Sun Heping is called Peace, Yang Liu is called Willow, Tian Ye is called Field, and Ma Yi is called Old horse. I am waiting for other characters to have a literal translation, also. Otherwise, this is an eye-popping show about Chinese capitalism. For sure, I will never invest a penny into Chinese stocks. Hongyuan is a classic Ponzi scheme, Dharma Industries are Wall Street vultures. And yes, I hate Chairman Zhou so much. I am only halfway done, but I hope that the ending is going to be more positive. I don't want ubiquitous avarice to completely smear this excellent show.
