I would add that there is nothing shown that would warrant Wang Man falling for an old man. He was broke and unable to compose anything. When do superstars for an old loser? I am also annoyed by Jin Lu. Everybody had gouxue so far but her. She is the most deserving.

One-third of people dropped the show once the Headless League arc was over. I looked into Sima Qian's book and there is no trace of Jin Shu. King Dao of Chu died in 381 while King An of Zhou died in 376. In the show, it seems like only a few days past.

You cannot compare crap like The Blue Whisper with a good drama like Love and Destiny. Immortal Samsara is really eponymous. A lot of misery. So many screenwriters and the story is a constant recycling of tropes seen many times before. Love and Redemption at least had a superb OST. World of Fantasy had excellent CGI. Immortal Samsara has none of the above. The only thing you get is Yang Zi's face that is screaming get me out of my contract. This show is going to ruin Meng Zi Yi's career also. People tend to remember bad roles well.

We entered the second half of the drama and I enjoy the conflict between the main characters. Currently, Pei Zhi is a totally selfish jerk. I heard that people complained about the script not following the novel. I think it must be because of the censorship. I hope they are going to resolve the great escape from the Cheese World after resurrecting so many dead people.

I never watch republican era dramas because female styling is so ugly. But in this drama, they didn't care about historical accuracy so I can enjoy it.

I worry about this show. It will be so censored. What will sophons look like? The real landmine will be the gigantic analog computer. In the book, it seems like a single-bit processor. That would never solve the three-body problem. I personally don't care if science is twisted. After all, I only care about entertainment. But netizens are nitpicking and so many people know very well how a computer works. Also, the first book is really the weakest one. I would like to see The Dark Forrest. Dramas are great for instilling fear and that one would cause mass hysteria.

I think the show is historically very accurate. The only made up character may be Wang Chan. Maybe they are hinting that Wang Chan is the mysterious Sage from the Ghost Valley although no historian ever claimed that such a person existed. Wu Qi was a famous legalist while Wang Chan seems more like a mohist. Those two sides were always in conflict until the Qin emperor destroyed the latter. It is interesting that both sides wanted to abolish slavery but for different reasons. The legalists wanted a strong army while the mohists preached human equality. There are quite a few excellent shows from the Warring States period but this one is special. It doesn't seem like a Chinese production, it could have been easily an HBO show.

Watching Dream of Splendor, I realized I gave up on this drama because I got bored with the emperor's incessant headaches. Now I finally finished it. Since it is historical fiction it is full of historical inaccuracies. It also makes it more watchable as I am not in the mood to watch a 61-episode documentary. In all previous dramas, Liu E was portrayed as a villain but here she is such an infallible saint. On the other hand, they made Emperor Renzhong look so immature. Among the things that bother me is that it is filmed in Hengdian's Ming palace. I was also expecting more Song ci but it occurred only once in episode 54.
