it is what it is

i watched this movie with my best friend when the movie started going viral and honestly, i expected much better.
i wasnt expecting the guy to die but also when he did, i didn't cry at all. everyone ive talked to about this movie has said they cried at this movie, but i was just like "oh..." throughout the movie. im usually a big crybaby but his death just felt so unnecessary and out of nowhere. they don't even elaborate how or why he died, hes just dead. it just feels so stupid, i think the ending could've been done better but the starting of the movie ropes you in definitely. it has rocky relationships and sad moments, frustrating moments as well. i guess this whole movie is just a big frustration fest.

I feel like this movie will hit harder once you rewatch it and you know everything thats happening, and you start seeing signs of what the reality really is. Its just so fucked up and mind boggling and leaves you with an empty feeling once you finish it because then you're left wondering...could all of this been avoided and done in a more proper way? Both of their deaths were symbolic but it hurts so much. Both of them never intended on hurting anyone and their fucked up fates just seemed to clash together which breaks my heart for the both of them.

I recommend this if you like movies who fuck your mind up a bit...

WOW. As a girl, well. This certainly made me realise a lot of things about myself. I really like this movie because of how open and understanding it is. Its also very respectful, everything is done with consent and love and limits and boundaries. I thought it would freak me out like Fifty shades of grey at first but this is definitiely much better than that horrendous movie. I also didn't expect to like seeing a woman be dominant over a man this much, it was so refreshing to see because we all know its always the men who have power over women in medias like this..

Female doms just..wow, really made me discover a whole new side to myself and it made me realise what i like!
Im not gonna go in full detail about that lol, but this movie is pretty educational and I really recommend it !!

Honestly watching this movie, you can just tell why it received the oscars. Its truly a work of art but at some points it is a bit confusing and it leaves you to interpret a lot of things in your own point of view. Especially the ending which was left bittersweet and yet open for you to give it your own ending. Was his daydreaming something that actually happens in the future or just something he wishes for? I also really wanted to know what happened to the rich family in the end, I was always curious about that and if kiwoo actually liked the daughter or not. It just leaves you wondering and creating your own theories about what the plot and the message is about.

The actors did so well, really amazing performance and it really did deserve those oscars.

CUTE! HEARTWARMING! But nothing new...

I was bored because recently I haven't found any good romance K-drama lately and I found this movie... IT WAS WORTH MY TIME! I'm a sucker for both teeth and heart-wrenching drama. This one... served both. You got a sweet start and a bitter-sweet ending a classic K-drama formula!

The build-up of the story was really good. I enjoyed every interaction between the leads, the friendship between the characters, the setting that felt so nostalgic, and especially the start of their romance. I was enjoying the time when both leads were falling in love, kinda expected them to give more than shown in the movie. However, the twist came (kinda predictable) and everything started to fall apart. Up to the twist, everything was still well-written.

(SPOILER and rants AHEAD!!!)

The fight between Bo-ra and Yeon-do also didn't last long which was great. I always hate misunderstandings between friends, but they cleared everything quickly, and even we got what we wanted! The confession between the leads!

The ending was the one that made everything seems like a joke... GOD I hate it when they gave two happy people no happy ending, it didn't feel fair. I still cried though. But Wonhoo's death just didn't make any sense, they didn't even bother to explain why he died... He just *poof* disappeared from the story, which ruined everything that made the movie good!

and I wished Wonhoo's letter was the one that his brother sent to Bo-ra... it conveyed such great feelings rather than the movie she watched at the end.

GOOD!

AMAZING! I haven't watched much of Siwans work but he always does well! He just always seems to have great chemistry with all of his coworkers! The main actress also did well and I really enjoyed her acting. The movie was so intriguing and it had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. The way the story unravelled and how the movie kept you guessing if the killer is the detectives son or not or if the main characters father would survive or not. SOOOO GOOD! I recommend it! Plus its really fun to watch at night for bonus effect. It reminded me a lot of Strangers from hell. I loved how many conflicting moments there are in the movie, i guess thats all that its about...

Bad acting meeh story and a questionable agenda...

Someday good actresses will choose to star in a GL.. There will also be great writers lining up to tell amazing stories about love, friendships, and mysteries... There will be a great budget there too, great dialog and amazing kisses...

Obviously not in this, this was pretty much 3 sweet moments, a mom that looked to be the same age as the girls... And a story I felt like I had seen in hetero dramas and while I did appreciate seeing a lesbian couple there where just some twists that made me wonder what are they actually trying to tell us?

And what agenda are they actually trying to convay?

Something in this just felt off, and it was not just the acting.

Welcome to the Korean Matrix

This movie tries to incorporate multiple genre into one single movie. It had elements of historical Korea that was under Japan, underlying suspense, horror elements and school drama. The majority of the cast used Japanese and Korean to underline the historical situation. The big reveal for the underlying suspense was underwhelming. I was expecting a big gang or organization controlling everything behind the curtains but was disappointed and it didn't seem grave enough.

The horror/spooky elements felt unnecessary and fell flat. Lots of repetitive scenes that didn't add much value to the story nor did they help move the plot forward. It felt like a drag a lot of the time. The entire movie can be portrayed in a matter of 45 minutes to an hour at best. Many plot holes didn't help either.

Many of the young cast including the FL looked a lot like each other and many a times it ended up confusing me. Especially, when they were using two sets of names (Korean and Japanese). The uniforms and hairstyles made it worse. The girls were at the dormitory due to being sick but apart from FL and Kirra, I didn't see any of the other cast display any symptoms or being under IV/Medication. The FL had IV drips for half of the movie - repetitive for no particular reason.

Some of the most inane scenes in the movie were the school drama between the girls. The rivalry and bullying for the top two "healthiest" girls in the class was uninteresting. Lots of "slice of life" type of scenes between the FL and her friend including the one at the lake, with the diary, in the basement, in the dorm, etc. only contributed in increasing the screen time of the movie. I really wanted to increase the playback speed to 2.5x.

The action scenes during the climax were childish, maybe funny(?). It felt like I was watching the Korean matrix. Half expected Keanu to show up.

Some mysteries were left unanswered. Like what the hell was that sticky liquid that the older Shizuko or whatever dropped all over the place?

Overall, interesting premise. Bad execution. Worthless dragging. Pointless drama. Lots of confusion. No Keanu.

Whaou

I actually watched it because my friend wanted to watch it. I came with no expectations and didn't even knew what it was going to be about.
I am not a fan of bully stories but I think the way the actors really portrayed EVERY emotions made me so vunerable and I felt every single sensation. They are making us swim into our cruel reality. They trust, help, love each other through everything. They are here for the other, not alone.

This movie is art. Visually it is amazing but we can't stop only at its beauty. They are putting meaning in everything. Even tho i am not a fan of long movies, the thought of it ending never occured to me once.

BAD ACTING that make a touching love story NOT touching

If you have watched the 2009 original story Korean movie by Kwon Sang Woo & Lee Bo Young, this movie is a remake with the exact story. But this remake chinese version is disappointing as the acting by the 2 main leads SUCKS!!!!! I didn’t even cry a drop of tears & wasn’t even touched at all by the love expressed & portrayed. I’m only touched by A-Lin’s singing of the song. Haha……
Please just watch the original Korean version.

I can’t post if it’s not enough 500 words but really nothing else to comment. Haha…..

Get your tissues ready

A beautiful touching yet very sad love story. Heart wrenching & be prepared to cry especially at the end part. A selfless sacrificial love than I won’t even think of. As I was watching, I asked myself, ‘Is there really such love in this world?’ And the other thought was, can a guy & a lady has such a close friend-family like relationship & stay together without anything happening??? They even had a short kiss at the beginning before staying together. Well…, don’t overthink & just watch & cry.

Romance with a twist!

This short story starts with some light comedy as Zhao Xiaoyu cheerily goes about her Shixiong-given mission to stick as close to Sect Leader Ye as possible and defeat any perceived challenger for her affection. It soon develops into a light romance montage of beautiful cinematography, pretty special effects, and a quick but fun fight scene which propels the two together. The costuming and atmosphere are gorgeous enough to pull you in before you even realize that the feelings have crept up in such a short amount of time. The characters have such natural chemistry that it's easy to believe a romance has been brewing and the twist ending is the cherry on top of this wuxia sundae.

With such effective storytelling and visual appeal, I don't even mind that it's not a full-length series.
That being said, I would absolutely watch a full-length series about these characters in a heartbeat.

Memorable.

Only half an hour, but it was succinctly utilized and on point. I have no knowledge about the original novel and have never watched any adaptations.
For a clip that was released as a part of a variety show, it had more impact than many billion dramas that China releases every year.
It has an overall simple production, and I've come to slowly recognize the directing style . The cast did an excellent job, particularly the two male leads as it was between them the game of 'throw-the-ball' was fought. The Female lead was good to, but as the story centered around her without her being aware of anything happening, she had only a few emotional moments.

The ending is what I find truly unforgettable. I paused for a moment and it made me confused. What or who exactly was the demon after? Why was he so cruel?
Definitely a must watch if you just need an escape from reality.

An interesting concept. Could have been explored a little more.

This short film got off to a solid start. We can assume the scholar's reason for crossdressing and the actor does a fantastic job of showing her nervousness as she tries to keep a safe distance from the courtesan's advances, lest her secret be discovered. The courtesan meanwhile exudes so much natural charm; she is able to convey every unspoken thought with a single look, making it easy to understand her motives. I think maybe the scholar did too good of a job keeping her feelings in check because I wasn't entirely convinced by the end that she reciprocated the clear attraction the courtesan was putting on full display.

The subtle way the courtesan learns of the scholar's secret and how she processes it is a nice touch for a delicate subject, the handling of which is something I personally appreciate. Admittedly, I wish there had been at least another scene or two between here and the ending to provide more context for the lead up to the reveal, especially because the ending kind of lost me. Instead of repeated shots of the characters running into each other's arms - which felt like unnecessary filler despite being pretty to look at - the story would have benefited from perhaps a little more tension between the two, a moment where the scholar realizes and accepts her own feelings, or even a scene showing how and why the scholar decides to entrust the truth to the courtesan.

As it stands, the final shot is gorgeous and it's a nice short story despite my nitpicks.
