Nostalgia.

Just finished watching Mutelu: Hi by My Luck, and honestly it was so, so, so good. I have already watched it three times, and I still feel like watching it again. It’s one of those short series that leaves a really warm and nostalgic feeling.

For me, Mawin’s character, played by Sea, is probably the best role he has played so far. There was something very natural and charming about his performance. The way he expressed the emotions of Mawin made the character feel real and relatable. I honestly can’t even fully explain how much I loved his portrayal.

And of course, Keen is amazing as always. No matter what role he plays, he always manages to make the character memorable. In this series too, he did a wonderful job. The chemistry between the two leads felt comfortable and genuine, which made their scenes very enjoyable to watch.

Considering their age and the theme of the story, the roles suited them perfectly. The characters felt believable, and the emotions matched the stage of life the story was portraying. It didn’t feel forced at all.

Another thing I really appreciated was that even the side characters did their job very well. Every supporting character added something to the story, and none of them felt unnecessary. The whole cast worked together nicely to create a fun and heartwarming atmosphere.

My only complaint is that the series is too short. With only four episodes, it ended so quickly that it left me wanting more. Honestly, I could easily watch 10–12 episodes of this story without getting bored.

What I loved the most is how the series reminds us of our school days — the innocent feelings, small moments, and memories that stay with us for a long time. It really brings back the nostalgia of school life in a very sweet way.

In a BL landscape where university settings and everyday romances dominate, Lover Merman dares to try something different: turning an impossible love into a literal fantasy.

The story follows Phurit, a man tired of life in Bangkok who moves to a quiet island to start over and manage a bar he owns with his friend Phana, a native of the island.

That’s where he meets Nawa, a charming bartender who hides an impossible secret: he is a merman living among humans. From there, the series tries to build a romance shaped by destiny, fear, and the eternal question of whether two completely different worlds can truly coexist.

Unfortunately, the chemistry between the two leads didn’t work for me at all. Phurit starts flirting with Nawa from the very first minute, and instead of feeling charming, it makes him come across more like a creep than a romantic lead.

After that, there’s very little else. All of this happens in episode one, but until episode seven there’s almost nothing beyond sibling fights, jealousy, drinks, more drinks at the bar, and storylines that are introduced but never really developed.

Visually, the underwater scenes and the physical effort behind the ocean setting stand out and give the show an identity that feels closer to a romantic fantasy tale than a traditional BL. But even that isn’t enough to save it.

This could have been a truly magical and beautiful story, but underdeveloped themes, pointless jealousy, and several monotonous episodes end up sinking the narrative.

With a premise like this, I expected magic. In the end, the only thing deep here was the ocean.

Honestly, I’m not quite sure if I liked this series or not.

There were moments that caught my attention, but at the same time something didn’t fully click for me. I kept watching, hoping it would pull me in more emotionally, but my feelings about it stayed a bit mixed.

It’s one of those series where you finish an episode and still feel unsure about how you really feel.

Magnificent C drama

Very lovely C-drama. From the very first episode, I got hooked. This drama has a mixture of funny, romantic, deadly, and dangerous emotions, which I really like. The background settings are absolutely gorgeous. Tian Xi Wei looks very cute, and I just love her role as a badass butcher 🔥. Zhang Linghe is so strong, protective, and handsome🫶😍☺️… I just can’t take my eyes off him. I also love Deng Kai a lot...he is one of my crushes 🥰🌹

The chemistry

I haven’t been this glued to a series since Bad Buddy.

The chemistry is absolutely on fire, especially after Episode 6. That episode really elevated everything the emotions, the tension, and the connection between the characters.

Honestly, this might be the best series I’ve watched since Bad Buddy. If the next episodes keep this level, it’s going to be something really special.

What u must know before starting the drama!

My opening statement - A MUST watch, worth it, sweet, slow burn romance and amazing friendship!

See, other reviews have already covered why this drama is worth watching and told you about the praises. While reading the reviews, i came across some negative points which I totally respect, everyone has a different opinion, but I feel they need a bit clarification. No point in degrading a drama unnecessarily because we are not able to find the 'why' of the things we find irritating.

1. Storyline - some view the storyline as predictable and a cliche. I believe that was actually intended! Most modern cdramas are about office romance and love stories involving many ups and downs and stuff, but very few actually portray the old, comfortable storylines of a secret crush transformed into a sweet relationship in school, then followed in college, how long distance relationship worked so well too when ML character switched schools, and a perfect ending where they get married. This is the ideal love story almost everyone wishes for irl, but ofc that isn't possible or is extremely rare. Thus, sometimes, such 'boring' storylines become a comfort zone.
2. Male Lead Character - the character has a kind of introverted nature, which is actually quite common for the top students! This is because of the family pressure, the pressure of consistent results, expectations and desperation to do well in life. Staying devoted to academics can tend to affect the nature of a person in this way. It's justified. The FL character is sweet and bubbly and can be observed because that is in her nature! That's how she grew up. She is more lifeloving and believes in 'staying in the moment' rather that focusing majorly on academics and worrying about the future. Again, it's justified.
3. Rushed ending - obviously this drama was meant to be kept short hence the 24 eps. And tbh there is no need to go into the details of the after marriage era as they have already depicted the school, college and job journeys. But knowing that they had a baby shouldn't be a problem, it's just an extension for those who crave for more but cuz of the limitations of the script, can't witness the same.

P. S. I especially love zhou yiran's and guo zhe's acting! They depicted the charcaters so well, and I really can't imagine someone else playing the ML this WELL.

Romcom Masterpiece

This was such a fun ride from beginning to end! The comedy is pitch perfect and every episode gave me something to smile over or laugh at. The drama was fun and genuinely sweet in many places. I'm a huge fan of the three actors who play the main trio-- it felt like a really cute reunion after Prisoner of Beauty-- and I've been crossing my fingers that Wang Cheng Si and Wei Zi Xin would get to play main leads in something lighter. Then this show came out of nowhere, answering my prayers!!

They're both comedic masters in this, playing off each other so seamlessly, cracking me up nonstop. And it seemed like the whole cast really had fun with all the gags and jokes throughout, everyone was so talented and goofing around, it was a fun time. Honestly, I can't recommend it enough. A silly show with a sweet side when they delve sincerely into the dramatic parts, and short enough to breeze through in an afternoon. Perfect if you're coming off something heavy and complex-- at least it was for me, lol. I love when dramas poke fun at tropes and that kind of thing, I thought it was really well done in this show.

Honestly, my only complaint is that I wish it was longer! Understandably the shorter running time meant some plots and characters didn't get as much development as they could've, and one in particular left me a little weepy at the end of the show, but I thought they did pretty well with the time they had. Plus, the blooper credits were hilarious. <3 Highly recommend!

UNNECESSARY HATE REVIEWS SEEM TO BE COMING FROM ANTIS

I I just finished watching it it's a romantic comedy so it's meant to be cringe and it is different from a western movie it is a k-drama and if you're familiar with cute drama you're familiar with how they use like cringe things sometimes and it's perfectly okay and the actors executed it perfectly I absolutely loved the male lead and the female lead and they had great chemistry together however there seems to be a lot of hate e on reviews and on Twitter and most of the people who are leaving this hate reviews did not watch the series or absolutely hate blackpink or Jisoo do not be deceived it is better to watch on your own and have your own review but overall this was a great show was a crazy fun drama as a drama you watch when you need something to do at home and you just want something that's light and not heavy.

The Art of Being Deceived by the World and Our Desires

Sarah Kim once said that "the only satisfaction in this world is the word 'satisfaction.'" And that "wealth is not a state of being but a feeling."

That pretty much sums up everything, including the drama and the world we live in.

Even if you are not a fan of anything regarding this drama, I don't think anyone can deny that its commentary on life is spot on.

Now did the story start lacking by the end? A bit, sure, but imo I don't think that takes away from the message of the show nor the life of the character.

Sarah Kim stayed Sarah Kim till the end; it's the rest of us and the characters that changed.

Critical and fair review- what u must know before starting this drama!

Starting off with the opening statement - the drama is FANTASTIC, all the actors have done very well, and I just love the music.

Now, into the details! (P. S. I will also mention the points I have observed in some other reviews which come off as flaws, do read them!)

Why you should watch this drama:
1. Storyline - i found the storyline different from many other dramas, which was refreshing.
2. Cast- everyone suits their roles very well and all the actors have done justice! This includes the villains and the sidekicks.
3. Balance- this drama is a balance of all kinds of emotions- you will feel like laughing, giggling, crying, being frustrated, and experience wholesome moments.
4. Music - I really love all the songs, especially hou minghao's 'if your world had no sunshine'. All songs are apt and offer a sense of completeness.

Now, discussing the 'flaws' I have come across in several reviews.
A. FL character development - many viewers are writing that the scriptwriters went overboard with her character's cute bubbly behaviour, and that she is portrayed as weak even though the character started off as strong. See, here we need to understand that the female lead character, mingyi, has had to disguise herself as a boy and compete in the competition. She has won consecutively for so many years, but suddenly she was harmed- her spiritual veins were struck with heavenly grief. She is not used to this self of hers. Just imagine yourself as the top student of your class for consecutive years. Then suddenly you were replaced by another student not because of your incapability but because you encountered unforeseen personal experiences. That's the reason why her character is 'weak' and found 'irritating'. Always read between the lines.
B. The story seemed to drag - while I agree that it could have been wrapped in a less episodes, it doesn't seem boring to me. The rollercoaster of emotions outshine this area imo. But I did wish for more romantic scenes between the main couple!

To sum it up- it is a must watch, trust me, you won't regret it. And try to probe deeper into the 'why' of the things you may find irritating, the answers are there.

Serving: Coherent Storyline, tightly-woven plot, Mischievous Leads & FL who's 100% Beauty & Brains

"Smooth talkers often disguise themselves as someone loyal and virtuous. Those who are truly honest and sincere may be clumsy with words, but they act with integrity." - Xu Yao

Before anything else, let me just declare that what made this show thoroughly entertaining and compelling was not the modern-era gags and references, but the consistent, progressive writing that carried the story from the beginning to its conclusion.

I mean... yes, the comic-like transitions, chibi animations, and modern gimmicks were a lot of fun, and I immensely enjoyed them. However, as the story progressed and those scenes were constantly served up, they started to feel bland. I began feeling cloyed just thinking they might shove them in our faces for the rest of the show. Having them for the first two episodes was entertaining, but by the 3rd time, it became concerning enough that it actually bothered me. That is why I was truly delighted and relieved when they toned it down in the 4th episode, shifting the focus toward the pressing issues and central conflicts. It saved the show from an early demise by preventing the story from dragging, keeping viewers thrilled for what was coming next.

I really appreciate that they didn't overutilize the modern-age trope and instead spent just enough time on it to catch the audience's attention and build hype before proceeding to the actual conflicts of the story. I'm glad they were aware of their limitations and weren't shameless in exploiting those elements. If they hadn't been so disciplined, this show wouldn't have earned such a strong reputation and high ratings among casual viewers.

Another praiseworthy aspect of this show was its tight storyline and coherent plot. The scheming and conflicts are well-calculated and truly brought so much fun and excitement to the show. I love how the plots were laid out carefully in accordance with the lead's strategy. And although the main conflict of the story seemingly rendered the protagonists helpless and in a dire situation towards the climax, I like that they had contingency plans which made the situation manageable.

I admit the multiverse within confused me for quite some time; however, it was not to the point where it bothered me. Because the story explains itself as it progresses—like how typical plots unfold. It instead encouraged me to focus more on the show by reading the subtitles diligently in order to fully comprehend the story.

I also want to note that they did a brilliant job with Bei Shu's cause of death. He was set up as the world's strongest, so it was only reasonable that the only person who could defeat him was himself—because no one among the antagonist force could ever measure up to him. It was such a smart move because I wouldn't have accepted it if he had been captured and then defeated by a number of fodder soldiers. There is just no way they could have done so under the story's given circumstances.

In terms of the ending, I’d say it was executed satisfyingly. It’s well-paced, climactic, and features a happy ending, even after they wake up from the illusion or exit the dream they were in.

I also have to acknowledge the savory chemistry between our leads. I love how their minds are so perfectly aligned, as if they share the same logic. I’m especially impressed by the FL (Yu Wanyin); I really look up to her for being so rational and understanding, even during those mind-boggling, conflicting scenes that typically cause a rift between leads. The main reason they avoid those typical misunderstandings is her maturity; she is the epitome of making smart decisions under pressure. I also just love it when the ML (Xiaohou Dan) reaches for the hem of her dress, tugging it gently to ask for attention or forgiveness.

Let me just mention how extremely proud and fascinated I am of Tang Xiaotian here. I have never seen him act as a villain before, so it was really refreshing to see him play one. It was a new feeling for me, and even though I can't say I like him taking on this kind of role (because he will always look kind and gentle to me), I'd say that he did a considerably impressive job on this one. Now, I'm stuck in between wanting him to remain the kind 2nd lead who always gives way to the ML, or an unapologetic antagonist who schemes his way to a ruthless victory. Geez. Haha!

And oh, before I even forget: kudos to the styling team of this show. Gosh! Wang Churan was fucking glowing each and every moment I saw her. From the head accessories to the makeup and dresses, they nailed it so hard I fell even more in love with her. I know it’s weird and totally opposite of the glam and glitters I mentioned above, but my most fave look of her is definitely the assassin look she has when rescuing the ML. Her holding a gun and dressed in black rendered me speechless—she is so badass and attractive.

To finally wrap this up, I just want to mention that my favorite and probably the most hilarious scene of all was in episode 22. When the Empress Dowager was in that wheelchair—paralyzed and unable to move or speak—but she still had to maintain a dignified posture, so Eunuch An tried so hard, multiple times, to keep her head straight, but it kept falling no matter what. I was dying of laughter. it was such a satisfying, well-deserved scene.

P.S. Let me just say it here. The "How are you? I'm fine, thank you! And you?" line becomes cringier and increasingly gross the more they use it. ><

Story - 10, I keep looking back on the story and my time watching it, and I must say that I had a good time. I would have given it a lower rating if they had shamelessly fed us modern-day antics continuously, but they did not. I appreciate that they kept those at bay and only incorporated such scenes during the less serious moments, and not during the conflict scenes. Loving the revolver handgun, though!

Acting/Cast - 10, What a set of brilliant actors and actresses! I love both of the leads, Cheng Lei and Wang Churan, but what made this show even more enjoyable were the second leads, Hu Yixuan and Tang Xiaotian. All of them did an amazing job with their character execution.

Music  - 9.5, I'm actually not a big fan of the overall musical feel of this drama, but I would say that I find the songs quite fun to listen to. I love the slow and romantic ballads, but the ending song in particular is what made an impression on me. It reminded me of the Hamtaro OST. Cute!

Rewatch Value - 10, Definitely a rewatch-worthy. It's one of those dramas that kept its sanity and shamelessness in check, so each scene felt just right and wasn't exaggerated.

Overall - 10, I was planning to give it a 9.5, but I can't really find a justifiable reason to do so. The story was well-written—the plots are interconnected and were never confusing. Plus, they kept all the absurdities at bay. Not to mention that we got such highly compatible leads and a lovable 2nd FL. I'm extremely satisfied with this show.

What The Hell is This...

Sigh, Oh JoongDunk, when will there be a series of yours that I can enjoy and/or not drop? We still haven’t crossed that threshold, and Dare You to Death has done absolutely nothing to help. Instead, we get inept cops doing a spectacularly terrible job at preventing a group of college students from dying in a murderous game of Truth or Dare, paired with some of the weakest chemistry I’ve ever seen between JD.

Let's Dive In.

Dare You to Death was my least anticipated GMMTV series of 2025, and... oh look at that, I was right!

Contrary to popular belief (or at least based on any JD series I’ve rated or dropped), I actually really enjoy both of these actors in real life. I think a big part of their appeal comes from their personalities individually and the dynamic they share off-screen. I haven’t always been sold on them as an on-screen pairing, and unfortunately this series hasn’t changed that for me. What has grown over the years is my respect for them as performers and their call-outs to some of the most annoying, crazed fans in the BL fandom. What hasn’t changed is my frustration with the roles and stories they’re consistently given. Maybe their upcoming 2026 series, "How to Survive My CEO," will finally be the one that clicks for me. As of now though, none of their projects have really delivered anything that resonates, and honestly, I hate that for them.

Moving on to the story: Surprise! I didn’t like it. Ironically, I was actually surprised by how much I enjoyed the beginning. The murder mystery had potential, and I found myself intrigued by the dynamic between Jade and Kamin. Jade being completely head-over-heels from the start was fun, and Kamin clearly enjoyed the attention even while pretending he didn’t. So what went wrong? The writing. They throw in a sudden mutual kiss in episode three, and it completely derails the cat and mouse tension they had been building so well. From that point forward, this series just plummets.

Alike a lot of others, I don't appreciate the rush of their relationship. I was hoping the show would lean more toward something like Manner of Death, where the romance sits comfortably as a subplot to the larger mystery. It feels oddly corny watching these characters investigate a brutal murder spree while simultaneously flirting, teasing, and kissing every few scenes. And the chemistry just… isn’t there. Even though I’m not the biggest JD fan, I usually think their chemistry is one of the strongest aspects of their shows. Here, something is missing. It’s like I'm eating a slice of cake and realize I somehow forgot to add the sugar. Everything works on a physical level, as it usually does with them, but emotionally there’s a disconnect that makes their relationship hard to invest in.

As for the “whodunit” murder mystery, it ends up being incredibly anticlimactic. For a while, the mystery was the only thing keeping me watching, but the reveal feels obvious and underwhelming. I also really dislike the trope where the victim turns out to be the killer. It’s rarely satisfying, and it definitely wasn’t here.

Positive aspects: Fluke looked gorgeous in this, please give him someone to kiss, and soon. Pahn !! urgh, I love her. It was also nice seeing Aou and Boom, but beyond that there isn’t much else to highlight.

Rating:

Story: 5/10 - It starts off with some promise but quickly loses momentum. The romance fails to carry the show, and the truth ot dare killer mystery becomes disappointing by the end.

Acting: 7/10 - Fine. Nothing to write home about it.

Music: 6/10 - Wasn't distracting.

Recommendation Value: 2/10 - Not worth it unless you're a diehard JD fan. Otherwise, just move on!

Absolutely Wonderful

At first I just wanted to see all the guys like they showed in trailer, of course I stayed for the same.
But I was amazed how wonderfully it was made. Netflix has done it again. The plot, the combination with technology which was believable and wishful (honestly people should just make it, I will earn money and spend on it, hey tech guys, you listening?), the cast and surprisingly, the acting. I was so amazed to see such good acting from all the actors, including side characters and all others. I know Jisoo has not explored much but she nails this type of character, maybe because she is exactly like this? And I was not a fan of the actor, but wow, he enchanted me in this one. He is good.
The kiss scenes were also good? honestly I was surprised but they had good kiss scenes.

Boyfriend on Demand is a fun and lighthearted romance that perfectly mixes humor, chemistry, and emotional moments. The story follows a fake-dating setup that quickly turns into something much deeper, keeping readers entertained from start to finish. The characters feel relatable, and their banter adds a lot of charm to the story.
