Warm Lessons with Flawed People. A Drama Where the Students Shine

I watched this mostly in passing while my mom was watching it, but I ended up loving Toutou. Honestly, I think it’s hard to find someone who’s seen the show and actually dislikes her.

That said, I couldn’t warm up to Hu Tian at all. So obv i didnt enjoy the pairing as well.

While I genuinely admired Professor Ren’s teaching style and many of his beliefs—so much so that I felt inspired by his principles, his perspective on life, and even his medical knowledge—I still didn’t like his character much. He constantly lacked the basic consideration to look after his own family before the world.

It felt like he often took his family—his wife, his son, and even his in-laws—for granted. Having ambition and showing compassion is one thing, but the imbalance bothered me. He showed extended, almost unconditional kindness to some people, while being harsh or indifferent to others. And when that same indifference extended to his wife and family situation, it came off as hypocritical—a frustrating double standard.

I loved the aunt and found her very understandable as a character. The students, overall, were extremely fun and enjoyable to watch. The best part of the show, though, is its concept—Traditional Chinese Medicine—and the way it’s taught. You get to learn alongside the students, almost for free, which makes it unexpectedly engaging (at least a few useful tips, hehe).
That said, I don’t think I’ll be rewatching it anytime soon—unless I want someone to enjoy and understand the charm of Chinese culture and knowledge through a drama.

When the Lotus Did Not Bloom

Ten years after disappearing from the jianghu following a fateful duel with Di Fei Sheng, the once legendary swordsman Li Xiang Yi resurfaces under a new identity as Li Lian Hua, a laid back traveling doctor. All he wants is a peaceful life on the road, but trouble has other plans. A bright eyed and persistent Fang Duo Bing latches onto him, while Di Fei Sheng himself returns, slowly piecing together the truth. As buried pasts come to light, the three men form an unexpected partnership, solving strange cases and standing up for justice along the way.

I went into Mystery Lotus Casebook fully ready to fall in love. On paper, this drama has everything I usually enjoy. A fallen legend, a quiet life interrupted, mysterious cases, brotherhood, and that slightly melancholic wuxia atmosphere. And to be fair, from the very first episode, it is obvious that this is a well made and well written drama. The production is solid, the pacing is calm and confident, and the mysteries themselves are genuinely interesting. This is not a messy show by any means.

And yet, somewhere between solving cases and brewing herbal medicine, I got bored.

I kept waiting for the moment that would fully hook me, the spark that would make me hit next episode without thinking. Sometimes the humor landed and made me smile, but often it just floated by without much impact. The growing brotherly bond between the trio felt a little too slow for my personal taste, like watching a friendship bloom in real time when I was craving a bit more emotional punch upfront. I also understood the lack of romance given the genre and themes, but I did wish the drama offered something else to fill that gap and keep me invested on a deeper level.

My biggest struggle was Li Xiang Yi himself. I went in expecting a charismatic, magnetic former hero with layers of quiet pain. Instead, at least up until episode 4, he came across as oddly bland and a touch too self absorbed. I know this might be unfair since I did not get far, and character growth is clearly part of the journey here. Still, first impressions matter, and his presence did not pull me in the way I hoped.

So for now, I am dropping Mysterious Lotus Casebook. Not because it is bad, but because it simply did not click with me at this moment. I can absolutely see why others love it, and I may come back when I am in the mood for something slower and more contemplative. Until then, this is a respectful drop with the door left slightly open.

One of the best drama in recent time

This drama has everything. It's perfectly balanced - romance, drama, comedy, a bit of mystery, special game world inside of real world and so on. There weren't any episodes with cringe or boring plot. The story was so easy to watch and the main (even supporting) characters were amazing. For the first time of my life (and I have been watching Kdramas, Cdramas and other asians series for nearly 15 years) I liked supporting male character. I even cried beause of him.
I tried this drama because somebody said it is one of the best healing drama ever and I must agree with that. I fell in love with the mystery game world and the main leads were so cute together. I would recommend this drama to everyone who needs a calm drama with gentle love and catchy plot. And of course I have to mention the end of the drama is not in rush. Everything was settled and it was wonderful to watch it without any regrets. Masterpiece. ♥

Like the CP and cannot stand the Plot

I watched this because My friend recommend this drama and I cannot finish this. Even Ma Le Jie and Wang Kaimu have strong chemistry but the plot is just focused on torturing FL.

The Plot is about FL has a seriously ill younger sister. ML possesses an unreleased drug that might save her. He uses this drug as bait to torment and abuse the FL, making her completely subservient to him.

I love Wang Kaimu, but this drama gave me a lot of heartache and the smoke kiss was not really cool at all. The forced happy ending is not good since ML didn't have any redemption point.

Since it was forced Happy Ending, i dropped this drama.

A feast for Japan lovers ! Don't miss this masterpiece!

Curse in Love is one of those dramas you go into with low expectations… and then it completely takes you by surprise. I genuinely did not expect it to be this good, or this addictive. Even more shocking? The truth of the story is nowhere near what you think it will be at the beginning. What truly elevates this drama, though, is how deeply it’s steeped in traditional Japanese culture. The atmosphere alone already sets it apart.

Plot*
The story follows Nao and her mother, who once lived in the staff quarters of Kogetsu-An, a prestigious wagashi shop. As a child, Nao grows close to Tsubaki, the heir to the shop. Their lives feel almost idyllic, until everything shatters. Nao’s mother is framed for the murder of Tsubaki’s father, and their world collapses overnight.
Fifteen years later, Nao returns with one goal: uncover the truth. She conceals her identity, re-enters Kogetsu-An, and even marries Tsubaki, the very heir of the wagashi empire tied to her past. From there, the story slowly tightens its grip, mixing revenge, love, secrets, and tradition into something completely addictive.

After finishing this drama, I desperately searched for something similar and couldn’t find anything that quite matched it. The plot itself is gripping, but what makes Curse in Love truly unique is how heavily it leans into Japanese tradition. We’re not just watching a drama; we’re being immersed in a cultural world. From tea ceremonies to the history and symbolism of wagashi, to the absolutely stunning kimonos, this drama feels like a visual and cultural feast.

It honestly reminded me of 90s Japanese dramas, where stories proudly showcased Japan itself. Compared to many modern dramas that feel increasingly westernized in fashion and lifestyle, this one felt refreshing, rooted, and intentional. Every frame felt carefully thought out, and every costume told a story.

One detail I absolutely loved is that the show even has an official website that goes deep into these elements. There are dedicated pages explaining the wagashi—what each one represents, the ingredients used—and separate kimono fashion pages for nearly every main character: Nao, Tsubaki, Kyoko, the Grand Master, Shiori, Takigawa, even Yuko. Each kimono is explained in terms of color, pattern, symbolism, and style. I don’t know if this is common for dramas (I honestly doubt it), but the fact that they went this far made me appreciate the production even more. If you loved this drama, I highly recommend checking out the official website, it adds another layer to the experience.

And of course, the acting was exceptional across the board. There’s really nothing negative I can say there. Everyone delivered, and the emotional weight felt earned. Ryusei Yokohama, in particular, was an absolute dream in traditional attire—effortlessly elegant and perfectly suited to the role.

Overall, Curse in Love was a beautiful surprise. It’s dramatic, addictive, visually stunning, and rich in culture. One of those dramas that sneaks up on you—and stays with you long after it ends.
If you’re looking for something that feels different, immersive, and unapologetically Japanese, this one is absolutely worth your time!

Modern take on Boys over flowers

If you’re a millennial, Boys Over Flowers is probably one of the very first manga or anime you ever watched—or at least heard about. It’s one of those stories that feels almost universal. So iconic that, decades later, it still refuses to fade away. Different countries keep retelling it, reimagining it, reshaping it—and honestly, I’ve seen several versions myself.

I still vividly remember watching Hana Yori Dango for the very first time when I was seven years old, over 25 years ago. I remember feeling all the feelings even as a kid: the butterflies, the drama, the tension. I remember hiding somewhere in the house just to secretly watch the iconic kiss scene, feeling like I was witnessing something forbidden and magical at the same time. What a memory. That experience stayed with me, and I think that’s why this story has always held a special place in my heart.

That’s also why I was both curious and cautious going into the Thai adaptation. After all these years, I didn’t expect to feel anything new. And yet… this version surprised me in the best way.

The Thai remake fits its cultural context incredibly well. The characters are adapted in a way that feels natural rather than forced, and the story flows smoothly within a Thai setting. Nothing felt out of place. The actors did a phenomenal job bringing these iconic roles to life, especially considering how familiar and beloved these characters already are.

What truly amazed me is that even after more than 25 years since I first fell in love with Boys Over Flowers, this remake still managed to pull me in. I found myself enjoying it as if I were watching the story for the first time all over again, feeling that same excitement, curiosity, and emotional pull.
This version reminded me why Boys Over Flowers continues to be remade again and again. It’s not just nostalgia, it’s a story that, when handled with care and respect, can still feel fresh and emotionally powerful.
For longtime fans and new viewers alike, this Thai adaptation is absolutely worth watching 🌸💖

Legend of Mr and Ms Incognito

Hei Fengxi and Bai Fengxi are two of the greatest warriors in Jianghu, Hei Fengxi being known for being prideful and conniving, while Bai Fengxi for carefree and unrestraint in her actions. As their fate entertwined in the search for the Imperial’s imperyan tokens that got lost, they found themselves drawn to each other closer than they ever thought they could be.

I put off this title for so long since I put it on hold after the first episode. Don’t know why i somehow lost interest after FL got injured trying to save the general who was carrying one of the tokens. Months (or was it years?) went by and after Zhao Lusi’s impressive performance in Love’s Ambition, I decided to continue.

Well, the first few episodes were rather horrendous and confusing to endure, as there were so many characters and kinghood being thrown in. And the surname Feng being used over and over again by different unrelated peoples only made it worse. Took me quite a number of episodes to finally grasped that there was a main imperial government that supposedly ruled over the land and then there were kings of the six states that the kingdom was divided into. The ancestors of the six state kings were those who fought their way during the first emperor’s rise to the throne, hence why they were granted kinghood and domain to rule over, which were the 6 states. Each unique to their own political struggle and upon the lost of empyrian tokens, all (except Qingzhou) were keen to conquer other states and march to the capital to seize the throne and unite the land.

I must say Yang Yang and Zhao Lusi had an uncanny chemistry. I always saw Yang Yang as an older generation to Zhao Lusi since the last show I saw of him was the movie Once Upon a Time with Liu Yifei which he also had great chemistry with. It turned out he had no problem creating that chemistry with the young Zhao Lusi too! Wow. Kudos to both!

I loved how badass the FL was, but i thought she had too much damsel in distress situations that needed rescuing by ML. So yeah there were two times where she rescued ML but thats about it. I guess my personal preference is an on-par relationship like how the ML and FL were in Luoyang - they save each other alternately and their skills match each other.

Anyway. I think the Tianshuang Sect is full of braindead people. It’s a wonder how they produced a prodege like Bai Fengxi, when the master repeatedly fell into traps which ultimately cost his own life. Best part is he also produced a stupid offspring to carry on the stupid gene. Gosh i hate these characters even more than the villain in this show.

I loved ML’s half brother Feng Chang though. The screenwriter did right by him by not turning him against ML like in other typical power struggle. There were so many instances that I thought, “okay he’d sure betray ML,” but he didnt! He stayed true and loyal to ML right to the end even though they never shared a birth mother. That’s a real wowsie.

I love the songs, theyre catchy and nice to listen to. Am gonna add one or two to my running playlist.

The action scenes had too many dogfights, gosh theyre flying all over the place that it felt too comical.

Basically an okay show, not the best but not too bad either. It is endurable especially if u like one of the mainleads (or both!).

Ah-Zhi so cute

this might be Qian Shan Cha Ke's novel adaptation with the most intense suspense and minimal romance. Womanhood and ideal woman empowerment in ancient traditional era portrayed rather beautifically. Though I feel like some conflict reaolution ended rather haphazard, but I could still accept it. In the end, this drama pronounced on one thing, "Family", and it shows.

Really enjoyed it once it really got started

I didn't like it at first because the writers had the ML written as very abusive. I mainly stayed to watch the FL rise above the abuse. I think almost everyone except the villains did a great job on acting. I ended up really enjoying it in spite of some badly written scripts. The costumes were nice and the overall plot was great!
