Hell Hath No Fury Like a Mother Resurrecting Revenge

I enjoy revenge dramas, but most of them recently have felt repetitive but not this one. The Resurrected stands out.

Imagine two mothers whose daughters were kidnapped, tortured and abused to the brink of death, seeking justice in the most extreme way: by going all the way to the Grim Reaper to bring their daughters’ tormentor, Chang Shi Kai, back to life. Why? Because death was too easy for all the misery he caused. An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth.

Hui Chun and Chao Ching actually succeed in resurrecting him and exacting their revenge. But things get complicated fast — Shi Kai is cunning, manipulative, and tries to turn them against each other by claiming one of their daughters was his accomplice. Their fragile trust starts to crumble as dark secrets come to light.

The performances were phenomenal, especially from the two lead actresses. They gave raw, emotional depth to the grief and fury of mothers who’ve lost not just their children, but their peace and innocence too. What drew me in most was the supernatural aspect...the idea of resurrecting a criminal for revenge felt fresh, though admittedly disturbing at first.

The revenge arc was satisfying, though I wasn’t too thrilled when the subplot involving a corrupt politician (Shi Kai’s mother) was introduced. Personally, I wanted to see Shi Kai’s downfall explored even further. Still, it’s a solid, well-paced thriller that stays memorable for its originality.

The ending hints at a possible Season 2, though honestly, I think it doesn’t need one.

Overall, The Resurrected is a refreshing and thought-provoking revenge drama... dark, emotional and haunting in all the right ways.

32 episodes and no kiss??

i stopped watching after that forehead kiss in the last episode yall. this show was really great, i loved the story, most of the characters and the acting was decent. the top review saying that Chinese censorship is the reason why we never got a kiss between the main couple is absolute BS you telling me the second couple can swap spit 85 bazillion times but ALLL i get is mf forehead kiss at the very end of the last episode??

Liu fuyi was boring, i forgot he was apart of the team half of the time because he was so stiff and overall didn't bring anything important to the story.

miaomiao was funny in the beginning i feel like them making her forget her memory so she could unlock her power really made her seem dull and suddenly her whole personality was "uwu cutesy heroine who could do no wrong" for the rest of the episodes. i didnt like the needless conflict and at times it really felt like they were just pulling common tropes out of their ass to extend the story lol. the ending sucks, all that build up for no payoff. cruel and unusual punishment for the writers.

the more i think about the show the more things i can remember not liking. overall i don't think i'd rewatch it even if ziqi is hot.

Hidden Master: Comedy Meets the Misjudged Hero of Wuxia

🔹 Addictiveness & Bingable: Yes (Special Edition cut)
🔹 Rated for binge factor and ensemble chemistry. This series isn’t about big-budget visuals or deep story arcs.
🔹 What if learning a “demonic” skill made you the hero and the punchline at the same time?

📕 Overview
🔹 30 episodes, comedy and wuxia (costume)
🔹 Avg runtime (Special Edition): about 15–16 minutes
🔹 Avg runtime (Full episodes): about 32–35 minutes
🔹 Runtime note: Special Edition cuts are shorter per episode; the full-length versions elsewhere run nearly double.
🔹 Xu Zhisheng gives heart to Gou Lingfeng, an unfortunate yet kind wanderer who accidentally masters a feared technique and faces premature judgment
🔹 Fan Jingyi plays Ma Yingdan, a loyal ally with a sharp wit who helps Gou scramble through the chaos.
🔹 Gou’s journey begins with suspicion and leads into cases that question what “good” or “evil” in martial arts really means.
🔹 At the time of this review, all 30 episodes have aired.
🔹 This short-form wuxia comedy stands out for its slapstick humor and playful special effects. It’s fast, funny, and never too serious.

🌸 How It Felt Watching
🔹 Every episode felt snappy and inviting, easy to hit “play next” without hesitation.
🔹 Tone: playful, irreverent, just a little wild
🔹 Themes: acceptance, identity, friendship, and the blurred line between reputation and character.
🔹 It reminded me of "Word of Honor" (2021), but "Hidden Master" adds a lighter, slapstick twist to the wuxia themes of the ‘righteous versus demonic’ gray areas and the traveling duo dynamic.

✨ Cast & Acting
🔹 Xu Zhisheng brings a natural comic timing that makes Gou’s bad luck fun to root for.
🔹 Fan Jingyi balances mishaps together; their banter has crowd appeal.
🔹 Zhuge Heng and the others maintain a lively pace, serving as playful contrasts to each misunderstanding or case revelation.

🎞️ Production Style
🔹 The director's playful style and the team's costume and color choices ensure every scene delivers a joke or sets a mood.
🔹 Visual effects are subtle yet clever, adding humor during fights and misunderstandings that other dramas might treat seriously.
🔹 The color palette becomes brighter in street scenes and more muted in halls or tribunals, so you always anticipate what’s coming.
🔹 Pacing sticks with tight arcs and swift transitions that suit the short-form cut.

☕ Tea Notes
🔹 What worked: breezy pacing, strong chemistry, comic VFX that make gags land, catchy OST cues, lots of quotable moments
🔹 What didn’t: repetitive jokes in a few arcs, some flat punchlines, and a mid-season dip in momentum
☕ SpillTheDramaTea’s Rating: 8.5/10
🌿 Tea-Scale: “Full-bodied, punchy, and best watched with friends.”
✏️ As SpillTheDramaTea, can a misunderstood hero win the world, or is being an outsider the real adventure?

Cutie boos

The actors really lucked out twice in a row between this and their next projects that have a generally good writing that focuses on the characters. The leads are both charming, but the acting, particular for Kang's actor I hope will be much improved by their upcoming third project. Moo feels like a comic side relief character that got his lead role spin off, which isn't a bad thing, just an interesting vibe. The actual secondary characters Potae and Yos had a good friends to angst to romance arc and just the right amount of screen time for their story and being friends with Moo.

I don't love the no means yes thing dialogue that came out of the mouth of a woman character no less when Neth tells Moo to keep going after Kang. The two years age difference with Moo still in the last semester of high school is also really skirting the uncomfortable age lines, but the bar is in hell with these high school dramas, at least they are both in college soon. Kang's trauma regarding the tablet and his father was sad, I'm glad he was able to heal from it and re-enroll in university to major in art.

Moo's arc to learn independence is pretty messy, it started strong with him living on his own and wanting to help Kang out at work, but then he gets his way to date Kang, gets his way to go to the boyband audition, and tries to get his way secretly dating despite the contract stipulations, which of course does not work with Moo having zero chill in public even without another trainee intentionally out to get him. The show generally has the characters communicating with each other pretty well, but it gets stuck around the contract plot line that drags the pacing of the last couple eps down.

Everyone but Moo understands the stakes except for Moo. He doesn't really even deal with choosing either his job or having a relationship until it's time to renegotiate the contract when he already has built up enough popularity to renegotiate. He just keeps bothering and guilting Kang without settling the issue that kept them apart by Moo's own choosing for over a year. He wanted his cake and to have it too without a plan. In the end it worked out for him, but it's rather just the timing than his master plan.

The screen kisses is definitely another thing along with facial expressions that the actors need to work on to look more organic. There was one scene at the apartment Moo was staying at before the boyband auditions that they actually pulled off a good kiss scene that even ended up shockingly steamy. And then they completely lost the skill, which I will also blame the director. It doesn't need to always be steamy to be good, I'll take the scene not looking awkward. I think it would be good for them and other contractually obligated to only ever play same sex romance roles forever together actors to actually switch up getting romance pairings with other actors so they can learn from experiences acting with other acting styles and discover different types of chemistry, but alas it's really rare if not never.

Power Casts

William Chan + Zhao Lusi = a powerful pair of leads! This is at least off the usual dramas of love triangle which is very refreshing. The plot, well there is some scenes that I wished was treated differently but otherwise too minor to even count it against the whole series. Congratulations! I have always enjoyed Rosy's works.

It’s All Just Business

This is one of those titles that features a charcter being reborn in ancient time from modern era. Guo Qilin played a successful businessman of modern era who got struck after a brawl with his treacherous business partner. He woke up to find himself transmigrating into the body of Ning Yi, a young man about to be married into Su family as payment for his debts. Su family is a prominent merchant in Jiangning and his bride-to-be, Su Tan Er played by Song Yi, was fighting for the family seal which would designate her as the family head and owner of the family business. Ning Yi reached an agreement with her, that he would help her get the seal and she would settle his debts and divorce him once she obtained the power. Originally focussed on freeing himself from the shackle of marriage, Ning Yi realized he had more things tied up to Su Tan Er, one of them being his heart.

I have been putting off this title for so long cuz i am not quite a romance/drama enthusiast but the lead actor was kinda interesting since i first saw him in Joy of Life as Fan Sizhe, the elder brother of the main character Fan Xian. After i’ve finished up all my watchlist, i am left with no interesting title to watch, so i decided to finally start on this after adding it to my watchlist since months ago. Oh boy i almost missed a rather good piece. At first I thought it was romance comedy genre because it was marked as such on the platform i watched, but truthfully romance made up like less than a quarter of the whole show. But comedy it definitely is. The plot takes off right from episode 1 with no boring acts at all. The comedy was on point and worked really fine, and the mainleads were not as bad as i thought they would be. They were actually really good and they clicked right from the start, the chemistry is just too apparent despite their characters being together by marriage of convenience. On a side note, this show is like a whole reunion of Joy of Life with the actors playing Fan Sizhe’s mom and dad in Joy of Life returning here as his mom-in-law and mentor.

The ML surprised me with his acting performance. He displayed much wider range of emotion here on My Heroic Husband than what I saw him of in Joy of Life. Being the main lead played a part of course, and his acting ability played even bigger part. I don’t get why people would criticize his appearance when his ability overshines that. And since I don’t regard looks as the appealing factor for main characters, he is just perfect as Ning Yi for me. So what if his looks is average? He’s a far cry from ugly so I can’t understand the hate. Plus I am very surprised that he can really cry. After numerous miserably undelivered crying by casts of The Journey of Legend, it made me appreciate the crying ability of Guo Qilin. He is in fact waaay better than some actors I have seen. The quivering of his chin as he started to cry and shaking of his extremities during intense scenes is very convincing. Another note is that he did not play a perfect hero. Although Ning Yi displayed his skill in boxing as he fought off some characters in the earlier episode, he is generally a character with little self defense skills. He might be able to fight off those who doesnt normally fight like family guards or entitled young masters of other merchant families, but in the face of real martial practitioners, he is totally defenseless. So we get to see this character needing saving quite a lot. But rest assured, he is not the annoying kind of don-in-distress.

And I must say this is Song Yi’s best role among the 3 that i’ve seen her as. Su Tan Er was not as irritating as Liu Ran in Luoyang and not as physically unconvincing as Li Shuang in Shadow Love. Su Tan Er is perfect for Song Yi in terms of built and character, packing a will of steel with sheer determination and talent in trading. However, this character’s supposed limelight is dimmed when many of her successful business strategies came from Ning Yi. But either way, they make up one formidable power couple with Su Tan Er providing resources and Ning Yi being the brain.

It’s also really nice to see the one who played wei liang from The Prisoner of Beauty. It’s the third show I saw of his, and they all had him portray such a loveable loyal sidekick. He’s truly a natural at comedic scenes. And it surprised me to see the exact scene from Prisoner of Beauty here. Or i should say PoB had the same exact scene as My Heroic Husband, since this series came out first. The scene i was referring to was when they were being led around by Geng Zhi looking for tourist spots but ended up finding a whole different things. That plum drink tavern turned into public toilet, hot spring into a mud puddle and not finding the beach were exactly the same in both dramas. It was hilarious. Then i realized both had the same director so i guess thats how the scenes got duplicated especially with the same actor playing the goofy guide.

All in all, this show is entertaining and not boring to watch. There are some plotholes, like why would the rebel gang decide to make Ning Yi their military advisor out of the blue, and what role did Grand Preceptor He really play cuz he kinds got offed quite too suddenly, or how did the emperor’s son in law looked older when the emperor seemed just in his early 30s, but honestly these shortcomings get overseen by the whole entertaining plot. Like for real, give it a shot. Even an action packed lover like me found this title entertaining 😆

Simple, but cute!

I was in the mood for something sweet and easy to digest to just escape reality for a while and not think too hard - and in that regard, this show did not disappoint!

One thing I really appreciate is that the characters actually communicate (yay!). Conflicts get resolved pretty quickly, which can be a hit or miss depending on what you're looking for. For me, it gave the series this kind of episodic vibe, light and easy to follow, which was exactly what I wanted to watch at the time.

I am impressed by Joong's acting in particular! The character he plays, Joke, is also one of my favourites in this, mostly because he's so relatable to me. Joke is a musician at uni and as a musician at uni myself, I do enjoy the music aspect of this show a lot and find it genuinely enjoyable and cute!

I do have some gripes though. Sometimes the story feels a bit wonky and there aren't exactly many overarching plotlines that go beyond one or two episodes. Besides the central romance of course, and maybe one or two additional threads. Nothing groundbreaking or revolutionary, but to be fair, I didn't expect this to be a story-heavy show in the first place, so I'm not disappointed. Just keep that in mind if you're deciding whether it's for you.

Watch this if:
- you want something light and easy to watch
- are in the mood for a cute, relatable romance
- enjoy university settings

Skip this if:
- you prefer a complex, intricate storyline
- are not into character-driven slice of life shows dealing with self-worth, identity and family related issues
- are just generally tired of the romance genre

In summary:
A cozy, low stakes series that's simple but charming.
7.5/10, made me want to join a debate club lol

Such a "Feel Good" Series

This series will put a smile on your face from the first few minutes, and you will not lose it right through episode 12. The story is extremely entertaining, not to mention the acting from Leo Matsumoto is brilliant in this role as a woman. I've watched him in several supporting roles over the last few years, and he was always entertaining ... but this lead role was done with perfection. I have a feeling you'll be seeing him in more main roles in the future.
Haruka Fukunaga & Keisuke Kurotaki balance out the rest of the cast and both add a pure innocence to the story. They made a great trio, with a brief love triangle early on.
I guess if you want to find fault with anything, it would be there really isn't one antagonist through the entire series. You could say there's no one to root against throughout this comedy/drama. Usually there's one or two that try to ruin it for everyone else, but not here. That's what kept the feel good emotions coming in each and every episode. Had there been a negative storyline running parallel to the main story, it probably could have lengthened the series a bit more. It seemed to go too quickly from start to finish.
A great story with happy endings for all.

FL, the queen of going back to the people who wants to unalive her. (Fool)

ML wasnice and consistent in his character.

FL is the real drag of this drama.

At the beginning, her husband's family schemed against her to have her r*pe, but after ML saves her and tries to get revenge for her, she decides to stay with the family who is trying to hurt her.

Then, she get poison by 2FL, 2ML, and his family, then they buried her in the woods. Lucky FL, ML already saw it coming and replaced the poison with a fake death poison. ML dug her out of her burial and think that FL will finally understand thats she needs to leave this family. Well NOPE, she decides to go back to this heinous family again....

Third of all, her daughter with 2ML gets poisoned by 2ML's grandmother. ML tries everything to save the daughter. This one is a hard call, ML and his friend found a way to keep her daughter alive until they can find the antidote. Well, you know what's coming.... FL still decides to go back to her cruel husband family.

Close to the end, after FL finally left the 2ML family, she decides to go back to 2ML in order to protect ML from being accused of stealing 2ML's wife (FL).

In episode 31, when things seems to be desperate for ML and FL, ML sends FL away to save her and stays behind to fight the villain.... Well, FL decides to go back and get captured by the main villain. She is then tortured and emprisonned for six months.

Shen was sentenced to be burned alive. On the day of the execution, ML reapers and save her AGAIN

This drama could have got a 7-8/10 from me, but the FL back and forth ruined it for me.

so many kisses...!

I actually started to watch this drama only as a 'filler', but somehow it got me so hooked that I finished it whole in a few days... Is my 2nd time seeing Arthur Chen on screen - I had so many attempts on his "Lighter & Princess", but I struggled with it so much and dropped it in the end, so only this drama showed me his real potential!
Sima Jiao really is sth else, I loved him so much during immortal arc, he so badass there! Sadly, I felt that in later arcs his character lost some claws, but can't say I hated it, it was still enjoyable. FL on the other hand is nice character, I liked her, but it's not really strong heroine, just cute little slacker who most of the time spends waiting to be rescued by ML (even when she is suppose to be stronger in later arcs), but the thing I liked the most about her was her boldness towards Sima Jiao - seeing her making moves on him was a rly nice change compared to many other cdramas where FL usually are kinda shy and ML is the one to initiate everything.
I think chemistry between actor was very good and damn, all these kissing scenes! We were really fed there, I even blushed a little watching some of their intimate moments which it's not sth common for me, lol.
The story was best in immortal arc, and this one is actually my fav one, but later on it started to went downhill only to end with this really unticlimatic ending - i really hate it, it almost ruined my whole experiance, but regarding all great moments before I just pretend it ended differently...
Villains were rather weak, I felt that their screen time was overdragged and was fed up with them at some point.
Side characters were just there, nothing really memorable, I only cared about The Black Serpent, but his potential was rather wasted and his romance arc really lacking, nonetheless I hope to see this actor in some other drama.
Overall - story is medicore, but I really enjoyed the romance part and chemistry between main leads, so if you looking for some romance and dont mind some other flaws, go and watch it!

So-so short

Pretty standard palace, revenge short - not horrible, but not that great either.
Lots of plot holes - again, pretty standard for a short - but this one has a few too many glaring ones - like, they give you a headache kind. Usual chopping eating from one episode to another.
Did not care for the FL actress in this - the overacting, especially in overly emotional scenes - almost made me feel like I was watching a soap opera at times.
Eye makeup for FL was districting - the clumpy mascara drove me nuts.
Absolutely NO 2ML syndrome here for me - didnt even get why this is in there. I got the doctor - but the prince made NO sense. Just felt like it was there to create drama for main couple.
Main couple had ok chemistry - but not great.
Pretty standard fair - and would only say give it a go if you need some filler while waiting for another drama.

More than a good laugh

Honestly, this drama was on my PTW for a while, but once I saw that it was coming off of Netflix, I decided to start it, and oh boy, it was not what I expected.
From what I thought was going to be a rom-com with two love interests, it was actually a lot deeper than that. There were even moments where I literally screamed at the TV, whether it was how annoying a certain character was being or when I got second-hand-embarrasment. But of course, there were a lot of moments that made me smile and laugh.
I really liked Gong Shim and Ahn Dantae's relationship. Although it took a while for them to get to the point of being able to call it dating, every minute of it was worth it.
There were some relationships that I wasn't a big fan of, like Gong Mi and Gong Shim's relationship, for example. Gong Mi chose her job over her own sister, and when things weren't going her way, she blamed Gong Shim. She also didn't want people to know they were sisters for the sake of her job, once again.
Another relationship I wasn't a big fan of was Junsu and his grandmother. Like Gong Mi, Junsu's grandmother blamed him for something that wasn't his fault. For 26 years. I hated it when she said that Junpyo was her one and only grandson. Like, what the heck?
Anyway, Beautiful Gong Shim is a must-watch. I really enjoyed it, and I hope to see more shows that give me that weird nostalgic feeling I got while watching this.

Brilliant show

I really, really enjoyed it. It was exciting and intense in some parts. I wasnt bored at all.
If you're looking for full blown romance, this isn't it. It has some but its not the main concept.
It has to do with insurance fraud, and going undercover. Very well written and the acting was great.
