This was one of the best things I have ever seen
I lowkey thought this show was phenomenal, and I have seen it 8 times now lmao. I also finished it in December when it first came out. I would give it a 9 out of 10 (which is like a 1000/10 in short drama standards), and then I am going to say what I liked and what I didn’t!NO ONE LIKES SHITY SHORT DRAMAS MORE THAN ME, I SWEAR TO GOD. The guys are the epitome of Chinese beauty in men, I swear to god. The guy who plays the racer is so fucking sexy, I literally do not know what to do with myself. Like he's SO SEXY. His nose is my favorite feature of his, and it's so fucking hot. He is gorgeous, so handsome, so everything. The guy who plays the urologist is also so hot, he's like old man sexy, even though he's like 30 irl, I think. He is very sexy, especially towards the end with all that yearning, Jesus Christ. I think they are both very good actors, and they mesh so well together, I swear. Just great chemistry all across the board. The plot is very straightforward, and I love it when shows do that. Like, he's a racer, he can't get it up, he goes to a urologist, they fall in love, and yeah. Nice, simple, and easy. For what it is, it was really well done in my opinion, and I think they did a good job with everything from costumes to filming, just an overall good job. The sex scenes were to die for in this, just overall really well done. In my opinion, they have some really good character development on both sides, and I really liked that; it gives them some more dimension, good writing. I enjoyed this show a lot, and it is really funny and actually really well done, so I recommend checking it out.
A damn shame there aren’t 10 seasons, and 1000000 episodes of this fucking bullshit, I swear to god. THE GIRL AND THAT ANNOYING STALKER DUDE. Y'all shut the fuck up. Just poorly written characters in my opinion, and very one-dimensional, and both for the same reason. They are in love with Charles and can't have him, so they are trying to stop the main couple from being together. Basic ass and shity ass writing. I hate when characters' only dimension is that they are obsessed with a guy, like fuck off. As much as I love the actors, THEY CAN’T KISS AT ALL. Like fuck, we taught y'all everything else, down to the looks and how to sit, but we aren’t gonna teach y'all how to kiss. I also think it's due to the fact that the actors are definitely straight, and kissing another man can be awkward AF. So I understand, but still. The plot being pretty good doesn’t take away from the fact that it's fucking bullshit lmao. Like, who came up with this? Lmaooo. Also, there are a few continuity errors if we wanna get very technical. Like the tattoo was in the first couple of episodes, then disappeared, and then appeared again, but that's just me being annoying. Also, they randomly got engaged, which was a little bullshit, I can't lie. OKAY, one scene that I didn’t like. The doctor guy sees Charles and the girl talking, jumps the gun, and then COMES ON TO HIM???? Like why? WHY DID WE DO THAT? I don’t think that scene was necessary, like I understand, but I think that we could have had that play out differently, because that also marked some character development, so they could have talked it out instead of him straight up just trying to SA him. ALSO THIS WHOLE SHOW IS JUST STRAIGHT FUCKING MALPRACTICE LMAO. Insane, truly. Yeah, that's all I have.
I did really enjoy this, and I watched 800 ads to get it for free, so I can watch it whenever I want and don't have to worry about getting a virus! I would recommend this so much; it's so fun, and the guys are sexy and have good chemistry. The plot is BS, but it is still very fun lmao. Okay bye!

Dynamism Love
So, I checked this out particularly because of Chen Xing Xu. I've liked him since the drama Fall In Love. When I saw him wearing that General uniform in the VR game, it gave me flashbacks on how he portrayed his General role in FIL. I am really not a fan of Republican era, but CXX really got me hooked to watch FIL even if it's a Republican drama. Am really glad that it was just a VR game portion in this drama. As for our FL, Lu Yu Xiao, I believe this is the first time I saw her portray a lead role. I haven't seen any other drama of hers playing the lead. I have no problems with her portrayal. She really nailed her role here. I liked her character being a simple employee with a cheerful and positive outlook in life. Very independent and career driven.
As for the plot, I liked the fusion of the VR game in the beginning and didn't focus much on it. There are some things that just didn't satisfy me much. First, are the kisses. I'm very particular on this as a romance drama enthusiast. I've seen CXX on how he does his kiss scenes in FIL. I guess, it felt like the steaminess or spiciness kinda lacked here. It was done too conservatively.
Then, another thing I noticed, Xiao Zhi Yu uses the same vehicle as what Li Xian used in Go Go Squid. And that open car window kiss was also done by Li Xian in Go Go Squid.
XZY's character is just okay. I understand that he always have communication problems in terms of sharing his problems and tends to always solve matters on his own. If he losses control over a matter he always resort to a kiss to his beloved. Most people find it romantic but I prefer hearing the explanation first before we kiss and makeup. I mean, serious matters needed to be discussed, a good kiss can come later on after things have been clarified. Same thing over the finale, when his mom said about not telling her from the start what's going on. Yes, he was only concerned of their safety, yet a person so important to you still need to know what's going on. Just my own opinion.
The supposedly third wheels for this drama wasn't given much attention on, I believe everyone was happy about that, But, I have to mention, I really find Luna gorgeous when I saw her face.
As for Pei Zhen, he's partly the antagonist for this drama but it became more on his father. Honestly, I really liked his character development towards the finale. It takes a REAL man to ask for forgiveness for his wrongdoings. I'm glad he's turning over a new leaf.
For the SC, I was hoping to see at least a romantic development on them towards the finale, but I think they were able to build their friendship as business partners.
As for the MC's finale, honestly, I am not satisfied over it. One, yes, I am happy for the FL that she was able to fulfill her dream in terms of her career but, I didn't like that marriage is still not yet on her plans. But, I would love to see them having engaged at least or yes, having kids. Second, I am not a fan of LDR. So, ML leaving for the US without her is a downside for me. I know one of his reasons aside from his mom is for FL to be able to soar high with her career and fulfilling her dreams. I don't know, but, probably because partly this was too slow burn that I was looking forward more of them being together after resolving their issues.
Oh, and also that incident when FL was kidnapped and was about to be burned alive in an abandoned warehouse, I was just wondering why ML have to go alone and didn't call for back up at least like the police., since it was a very dangerous situation.
Lastly, I'm not sure if the production just wanted to show a different style of the drama, but, the editing sometimes seem off for me. Like, the kisses should happen first before you get the ML to explain everything. Can't it be the other way around? Like explain everything first and don't make people misunderstand instead of always trying to always keep everything to himself which usually leads to misunderstanding.
Anyways, inspite of its flaws, this was still a good watch. CXX hair never misses to be styled during the entire drama as well as Pei's. 😁 I just noticed.
One last thing, I liked that piano scene in XZY's apartment.
Overall, I gave this an 8.

I especially loved how the main characters, particularly the female lead, were written and framed. It was easy to empathize with her and feel what she was going through. I love that the story isn’t just about finding love, but about finding solace and understanding in another person. It reminds us that no matter how many languages you know, learning to understand just one person’s language can make everything shine in a different light.
If you’re looking for a sign to watch this drama, this is it. The chemistry between the main couple is incredibly swoon-worthy even with it being a slow burn.

the gift that keeps on giving
♾️/100!!! i have never enjoyed a drama this much from start to finish. no notes, no comments, no complaints. lu yuxiao, the actress that you are. i always know i could trust you in the acting department. chen xingxu, i was not aware of your acting game man. you surprised me the most with this one. their chemistry, im so sorry i doubted it from the very beginning. thank you for proving me wrong. but most of all, the vr game concept, rongcheng and the whole murder mystery game, just pure brilliance and creativity. Was this review helpful to you?
Damn, that was hot
There was some spicy scenes thay were amazing. Cast is nice, the main guy is so beautiful and cute, i like all the couples. I wish there were a few more episodes so we can see a trouple because that was one of the most interesting things going on, and someting i havent seen in other bl. I'd like a spin off with 3 of them.Topic is interesting and i like how they show host life and want to normalise that profession.
I wish we had a bit older/ mature cast here so i could take them a bit more seriously and it could've been made into a real serious and sexy drama, in kinnporsche style (no the topic is not similar but if we had a cast like that, mature and hot that would be awesome).

Beautiful show, amazing visuals and whatta great cast!
Another wonder Cdrama world has given us this year. The show is beautifully made with amazing acting by all. You really love the heroes and absolutely hate the villains. Everyone has done such a great job. Special mention to the amazing OST, it is so freaking apt, absolutely love it. I still have it playing in my head. :P
I like how beautifully they've narrated the story. And I absolutely loved the element of the mystery game. My only complaint is that we did not get much of it towards the latter episodes. It seemed like an important component of the show, and I just missed their shenanigans in the game world, lol.
I also like how it is straightforward. No unnecessary drama, you know the villains from the start and the story about them unravels beautifully. It's also nice how the story does not end with the truth coming out. There's more to our couple and their life, and we get to see it beautifully. I'm so satisfied and happy.
I'm just so impressed with the quality of Cdramas this year, first Shine on Me and now this. Love it!

This was so disappointing....
What I am saying is disappointing in this drama is the story. The story is just so boring and when I first watched the trailer for this I thought it was going to be so good. The trailer made it look better than what it actually was. As I started watching it I found it so hard to get into that it took me so long to finish it. Not only that but I've seen this called a slow burn romance and I like slow burn romances there was no romance it was like non existence. Plus the ML and FL had no chemistry. They actually seemed kind of awkward together even when they are supposed to get together. I think they focused too hard on making all the scenes pretty and making the fight scenes stand out. I only liked the FL's red costumes in this though. I was more interested in the side character romances. Also they did the FL so dirty by giving her such an annoying and childish voice, I didn't mind her acting just the voice they gave her. I haven't seen Xiao Zhan in much but I really don't think the cold and distance master role did him any favors here. I liked him better in The Wolf and Oh My Emperor. How I ended up finishing this instead of just dropping it was for Alen Fang. I really did like his character and he had more chemistry with the FL than the ML. Plus his story was a lot more interesting up until the dang end. So of course they even have to ruin the story line for a character I really did like. I am not going to put spoilers on why I hated it so much, but if you have watched it then you know. I really did enjoy him though and Alen was really great as this character.

Good intentions that did not really deliver then...
So, as I just watch anything with Cha-Eun-woo these days, I also finally watched this drama which I had on hold for years.Long story short: while this had good intentions, it simply did not deliver in the end.
It was Cha-Eun-woo's first main role as far as I know and it's obvious as he is not bad, but if you watch more recent dramas with him, his acting abilities developed quite obviously and were not that present in 'Gangnam beauty'. I have to add though that the script writing probably didn't give him much more to work with as well.
The FL is... difficult for me...So it's obvious why she got cast for this role as the whole story is about a young girl/woman who felt so ugly and bullied with her face that she had massive plastic surgery at a very young age to me more pretty and not get bullied anymore. While this would be rather understandable, it's hard to follow this idea as the FL herself seems very fixated on being pretty, and on how pretty others are all the time.
I found her acting ability in this rather hindered by - her massive plastic surgery. She could or did not move her face at all throug all the episodes. She only has one facial expression which is eyes wide open in either fear or even pain - which simply is not very attractive no matter what a face looks like. She is described as intelligent by ebing a chemistry student, but her role doesn't make her seem very intelligent - or very likable for that.
And that's the point; the storyline wants to sell to the viewers that visually ultra attractive people like the ML do not care about looks (mostly not true) and that this particular very attractive ML would spend 15 out of 16 episodes to run after the FL for? well, I don't really know what for as these two sadly had NO chemistry at all to begin with, and in their roles they never really talk, in fact they only avoid to look at each other (especially the FL) and don't speak more than 2-3 word half-sentences, which always seems painful for both of them. That is not a slow-paced romance, it is exactly that - painful to watch and totally unrealistic.
The side storyline with the ML and his mother - again, good intentions, but it didn't deliver for me. To spin this whole story around perfume (and I say this as a perfume fanatic and niche scent collector for at least 15 years!) and then only over obviously promote and advertise this one perfume brand EVERYwhere in the drama (the store, the cupboard of the FL's room, her bathroom, pictures on the wall at school with the logo of the brand? WTF?) - was just too artifical - and I say that while I actually like this specific brand and have several of their scents - but that was just too much for a realistic story.
So in the end, it takes 15 out of 16 episodes with about a hundred 'more of the same' the ML is bluntly obviously running after and courting the FL, while she is steadily looking wide eyed, open mouthed and in physical pain, avoiding him over and over - only for it to result in a very awkward 'stop motion not really'-kiss in episode 15 and them claiming they are a couple then while they absolutely do not act like one. Sorry, but not good enough.
P.s.: so, I now made the effort here too to look up behind the scenes with these two - and now that's weird (and unfortunate for the drama), because in the behind the scenes these too are super cute with each other, and actually seem to have good chemistry Oo - seems like the writing and directing for this drama just totally failed to transport any of it, uughhh...

Fluffy, Cute, Romantic and togetherness
This is drama is 10/10 for me. Even though they could do much more better with story like this but i like how they represented. Totally my type of series, full of romance and kisses. Chemistry of j and jinn is fucking good. And surf u r definitely eye candy. It has fun, romance, kiss. Few people are saying they dragged the story after ep 5 but for me very good one.Was this review helpful to you?
Just one thing... it’s an absolute banger:
Look, if you’re looking for a show that isn’t just about "pretty faces" (even though the cast is stunning), Shine On Me is on a whole different level. This isn't your typical shallow drama; it's a story that hits you right in the feels because it tackles real-life stuff: family, grief, and that social pressure that sometimes makes you feel like you're suffocating. The Acting & Chemistry: Man, their chemistry is unreal! It’s not just that they look good together—you actually believe them. The pain, the joy, that "I’ve got your back" look... I swear it feels way too real.
The Aesthetics: Visually, it’s a masterpiece. Every scene looks like a painting. The lighting and colors really pull you into that nostalgic and hopeful vibe the show has.
A Plot with Substance: I love that they don’t treat the audience like kids. There’s personal growth, and most importantly, a level of maturity in how they handle problems that you don't see often.
The Soundtrack (OST): I SWEAR, get ready to look up the songs on Spotify because they’ll get stuck in your head. They kick in at the perfect moment to make you tear up.
It’s one of those shows you start out of curiosity and end up giving a 10/10 because not a single minute is wasted. You get hooked on the characters' struggle to "shine" even when the world seems to want to dim their light. It’s healing, it’s intense, and above all, it’s human.
If you haven’t seen it yet, I don’t know what you’re waiting for. And if you just finished it like me, welcome to the "post-drama depression" club.

A Heartfelt Drama That Truly Connects
lbl may not have the most unique plot or intense thriller moments, but it quietly pulls you in with its charm, heartfelt moments, and the warmth of its story. the emotions feel real, especially in the romance, and the main leads’ chemistry is so convincing that you forget they are acting. the characters are well written, the relationships feel sincere, and the direction is calm and immersive. what makes this show so special is how even the simple moments feel meaningful and genuine. every character’s journey is given care, and the endings feel satisfying without being forced. the osts match every scene perfectly, adding so much emotion. overall, it is a 10/10 for me, a series that stays with you long after it ends. Was this review helpful to you?
The Ex's Boyfriend show
The way Netflix is trying so hard to recreate another Daishun is honestly painful to watch, and it just isn’t working. On top of that, almost everyone in this season already knows each other, which completely kills the excitement for the audience. The charm of meeting new people, unexpected interactions, and fresh dynamics is missing, and so are those new, exciting vibes that made the show appealing in the first place. William and Izaya, in particular, give off very uncomfortable and forced vibes, and nothing about their dynamic feels natural. What made Season 1 special was the variety of personalities. Characters like Alan, Dai, Shun, Kazuto, and many others all had distinct traits, genuine chemistry, and real individuality. Each of them brought something different to the table, which made the show engaging and emotionally interesting rather than predictable.
In contrast, this season feels flat and pre-planned. Most of the personalities are forgettable, and the interactions feel staged instead of organic. The excessive screen time given to William and Izaya feels unnecessary and forced, almost as if Netflix had already decided their storyline before the show even started. At this point, it doesn’t feel like a reality show anymore..it feels like scripted acting being pushed onto the audience.
So far, the only person who genuinely stands out to me is Huwei. He has a natural charm, a warm presence, and feels real on screen. He is brutally honest..Plus, he’s absolutely adorable—like a big, cute panda 🐼. Compared to the rest, he’s the only one who actually feels interesting and worth watching..bomi is also cute..
Overall, instead of letting connections develop naturally, Netflix seems more focused on manufacturing a “successful couple,” and that’s exactly why this season is failing. Chemistry can’t be forced, and viewers can clearly sense when something isn’t authentic.

✨The Bar Is Officially High for 2026 — Love Between Lines understood the assignment ✨
This drama exceeded my expectations in the best way. It’s the kind of story that makes you slow down, settle in, and truly enjoy the experience — a perfect way to start the year.
From the very first episodes, the mood and aesthetic pull you in. The atmosphere is rich, immersive, and unmistakably carries the signature style of director Mao De Shu. The OST deserves its own applause — iconic, emotional, and already living rent-free in my playlist. The music doesn’t just accompany the story, it amplifies it.
The plot opens with a real-life VR game setting — a murder-mystery scenario where our leads first meet, setting off their beautifully tangled fate. Does it ask the viewer to be a little generous with logic and realism? Absolutely. Did I care? Not even slightly. As long as the romance is feeding me properly, I’m happy, and this drama delivers.
Once we move into the “real” world, the story unfolds through a series of fated encounters — tenant and landlord, boss and employee — all orbiting a relationship that grows organically from a soulful friendship into something genuinely tender. The romance is cozy, natural, and deeply affectionate. The chemistry between the leads is chef’s kiss: warm, believable, and generous with skinship and kisses in a way that feels earned rather than performative. This is what a couple in love looks like — comfortable, attentive, and quietly devoted.
What I loved most is how the romance is built through details: glances, small gestures, unspoken understanding, the way they show up for each other without fanfare. Visual and symbolic elements are used thoughtfully, always echoing the emotional beats of the story. There’s a touch of angst, but it’s balanced and handled with care.
The female lead quickly became one of my favorites (LYX was AMAZING in this).
She’s brave, honest, grounded, and kind — but not in a naive way. She learns from her mistakes and refuses to accept uncertainty or emotional harm when it comes to love. Level-headed and self-respecting, she’s the kind of character that quietly inspires you. It’s impossible not to adore her, and honestly, the male lead never stood a chance.
Speaking of him — the male lead is mature, stoic, and reserved without ever veering into arrogance or coldness. Even when he keeps his distance, the drama gives us insight into his inner world and the unresolved incident that has shaped his life. His determination to uncover the truth feels grounded and human. Meeting the female lead disrupts him in the best way, and while she may be more openly proactive, he absolutely fell first. The looks alone? Swoon-worthy. CXX is perfectly cast here — his posture, presence, and quiet authority actually make you believe he’s a CEO, which is not always a given in C-dramas.
While the story doesn’t reinvent the genre, it handles familiar tropes with care, letting them feel comforting rather than exhausting.
We get a healthy work environment, supportive colleagues, no toxic jealousy, no cartoonishly obsessed rivals. The team spirit and respect shown toward the female lead — even as someone with less experience — felt refreshing.
The second lead couple does take up a fair amount of screen time, and while I wasn’t fully invested (I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop), I did appreciate how the SFL handled everything with grace and dignity when it finally did. Absolute queen behavior.
As for the SML, while I enjoy the actor, the character himself felt rather predictable and ultimately more pitiful than compelling — not poorly written, just less impactful.
In the end, Love Between Lines is exactly what it promises to be: cozy, warm, emotionally sincere, and quietly romantic. A drama that doesn’t shout to be memorable, but settles into your chest like a soft blanket. It closes on a happy, unhurried note, allowing the story to breathe and letting us savor the sweetness of our leads without feeling rushed.
Truly a balm for the soul — and a strong start to the year.
