A nearly perfect drama for me
Ko Mun-young is a children's book author with a personality disorder. Moon Gang-tae cares for his autistic brother selflessly but also with guilt. Moon Sang-tae is not only autistic but also witnessed his mother's murder. All three suffered emotional wounds in childhood that left scars. But their (re)encounter starts a process of mutual healing.That sounds pathetic, but the story is anything but; it's a perfect blend of drama, romance, suspense, and humor. It's told in images that are at times disturbing and at times poetic. The included stories from the children's books, in particular, make the series something special, one I won't soon forget.
The unique story about mental health, the development of the characters, the visuals and of course the emotional acting of the three main leads makes it a nearly perfect drama for me.

Such a masterpiece.! It's Okay To Not Be Okay is more than just drama. It's A Life lesson.
The Acting, writing,music,screenplay, plot, the use of fairy tale metaphors, the chemistry between the actors, everything is just on another Level.A dark, whimsical but heartwarming drama, it follows a trio of characters.
Ko Muen Young is a children’s book author with antisocial personality disorder. She meets Moon Gang Tae who is a nurse working with psychiatric patients. Moon Gang Tae has an autistic brother, Sang Gang Tae who is a massive fan of Ko’s books.
The drama follows them as they become entangled in each others’ lives and grapple with the demons of their past.
Some dramas hook you immediately. Others, you tentatively tread the murky waters until it sucks you underneath. This one intrigued me right away with its opening scene. It opens up with animated illustrations very reminiscient of the whimisically dark tones of Tim Burton that sets the frame for the rest of the show’s themes surrounding mental health.
The drama deals with heavy themes, including mental illness and childhood trauma, but also centers on the healing of emotional wounds through relationships, making it a potentially rewarding but emotionally challenging.

This was the first drama I ever gave a 10/10 too! I recommend it to everyone I know! The acting from everyone, especially Oh Jung-Se, was outstanding! They tackled mental health and autism really well, which is something that is not always done. I love the story that gets built between the main two as well. Cannot recommend this enough! The way the writers have dealt with the very SENSITIVE subject of MENTAL ILLNESS and AUTISM SPECTRUM is by far so APPLUDIBLE 🙌👏
The writer has SKILFULLY employed COMEDIC relief, HEARTBREAKING moments and gives viewers like me the time to really INVEST in all the characters, their STRUGGLES, their VULNERABILITIES and the ROMANCE....
It really shows the MENTAL and EMOTIONAL stress on CAREGIVERS and their need to also be taken care of sometimes gets FORGOTTEN 😭
I felt that this drama was able to ACCURATELY, SENSIBLY and REALISTICALLY DEPICT these struggles 👌
So much EMOTION and LAUGHTER from start to finish while biting the tips of my fingers just waiting to see what will happen next was WORTH every nail lost 😂🙊🤣

It's gonna be hard to pull myself out of their world ? I adored every second with them.
This drama will now be on my list of favorites. the representation of autism in this one comforted me, so many beautiful lines of dialog Sang tae gets that just feels so true to life I could relate to being autistic myself. I do think if they also made ko moon young autistic as well with the way they connect being on different levels of the spectrum would've been so spot on I also just loved their best friendship 🖤and gang tae was so relatable as well with the masking in general cause you dont just mask as an autistic person its valid and happens with truama in general and going on that journey to talk about how everyone's valid and important with what theyre going through is a beautiful lesson. him swallowing up everything to stay strong for his family was very relatable for me as well and they all just hit so hard in their little way and now I feel apart of their family hahahha you really go on that journey with them. all of their fights that make you cringe and uncomfortable are needed thats how you build a relationship especially with someone who is traumatized so its just such a special drama for that.
p.s my favorite scene is when Moon young and Sang Tae fight so hard they both drew blood 🖤 I will forever love them.
I also just loved moon youngs interesting obsession with beauty and learning she doesn't always have to be beautiful. her meltdowns felt so good to see with her beautiful face showing its okay to not be okay!
and with that I think im done spewing for now. anyway 10/10 the only thing id say i didn't like was how the mom was still alive at the end lol but its true kdrama fashion for her to be so I can't complain much lol

Incredibly well done and creative.
One of my all time favorite dramas. Everyone was fantastic. The story was told in a really interesting way little to no clichés in this but so touching. This has everything from very scary moments, laugh your ass off koments, tearful heartbreak moments to breathtaking steamy moments. Everyone is slightly broken in different ways (as we all are) but they find a way to come together choosing to see the light more than the darkness in eachother.Was this review helpful to you?
An addictive and well thought out story.
When I first started this show, it felt a bit slow, I struggled through certain episodes because it felt quite long through some of them. Thankfully I've gotten through most of it and I will say it was definetly worth my time. At first, I was convinced that Munyeong's mother was Park Ok Ran, for the longest time it seemed possible. However, the twist of it being Park Haeng Ja was also a quick thought that I had. When it had happened however it still surprised me because it never really settled in much. Nearing to the end of it and I will say it is an extremely addicting Kdrama to watch!Was this review helpful to you?

Man, with this plot and these characters, it could have gone so very wrong. But the writing, casting, and acting made it all feel organic and built up to a really satisfying conclusion. The themes of family and found family work together to help support the often tricky depictions of neurodiversity and mental health. Chemistry between the three leads was perfect. O Sang-Tae é simplesmente incrível! Que desenvolvimento incrível ele teve. "beijo é melhor doq brigar". Ele cresce muito em pouco tempo, sinto orgulho de como ele superou seus problemas, é como se eu o conhecesse. Seu humor, seu sorriso, sua personalidade... tudo está guardadinho no meu coração.Para falar da Moon-Young é um pouquinho mais complicado pois nunca mais encontrarei outra pessoa/personagem igual a ela, nem parecida. Ela é única! Amo quando ela grita o que deseja falar sem se importar com as pessoas escutando, como ela expressa seus sentimentos... E me identifico em muitos pontos com ela, o que sem dúvidas fez eu me apegar a ela ainda mais. Chorei muito com ela, principalmente nos últimos ep, pois os sentimentos dela naqueles momentos, tão são os que rondam a minha vida...
O Ki-Do, filho do deputado, foi uma história que me pegou muito, um dos melhores personagens secundários que já vi, sem dúvidas.
Os livros "o menino que se alimentava de pesadelo" e "a criança zumbie" sao meus favs agora.

Beautiful
It is a beautiful drama throughout. Both leads are so beautiful together and separately, the scenes are beautiful , the intro is as well... I think the word fits it all perfectly .Yeah, it can get a bit over-the-top almost cliched, however it still holds.
Great production, interesting screenwriting , very talented cast that suits well the drama, nice soundtrack. The acting is very alive and captivating. And absolute kudos to the costumes, the FL is a vision, so whoever was in charge of dressing her did an excellent job.
I am reviewing this upon rewatching it, and will probably rewatch again in a few years :)
