no, just no - awful writing

Overall: the writing in this is terrible. It's the worst cliches written in the worst ways possible. Episode 5 was awful writing and episode 6 wasn't much better. Based off a book which I haven't read and I reviewed the series on its own merits. 6 episodes about 45 minutes each. Aired uncut on WeTV https://wetv.vip/en/play/fva9tft4vxjyol2/j4101l2vf7x and cut on on WeTV https://wetv.vip/en/play/efp3uken3u5ahjm/w410159dtry (the first episode seemed to be the same run time, they shortened NSFW in future episodes)

Content Warnings: rape (episode 5), torture, manhandling, hit, dub/non con sex, vomiting, bullying, cyber bullying, punch, beaten up, violence, kidnapping, drugging, non con picture/video taking/sharing, unwanted outings, gaslighting, threatened self harm/death

What I Liked
- visuals
- though kind of random in the beginning, I did understand the plot
- laughed at the line "lucky you for choosing to be a medical student because your acting is super fake"
- GL, especially eps 4-6
- the high school MLs in eps 4 & 5

Room For Improvement
- it was awful to watch how the rape in episode 5 was shot romantically, that was zero romantic and there were hints that they would end up together romantically and zero consequences for the rapist
- Sun was supposed to be the hero but he was anything but, why on earth would he listen to his enemy over his boyfriend/jump to conclusions, he cheated (kissed and had sex off screen) and then had the gall to ask why his boyfriend broke up with him and then when given evidence said he deserved to have 1 mistake?!!!
- started with a voice over to describe a character instead of showing it thru actions/interactions
- choppy, characters were in university and then suddenly we saw high schoolers with seemingly no connection between them
- love triangles
- cliches: drunk sex, hobbling the day after and a fever, multiple evil women, childhood connection (with the gross kids' "kiss"), refusing to communicate/listen
- applying the ointment (on the uncut version)
- piano music over NSFW
- mom vanished from the finale
- no resolution for the high school couple in the finale
- cliffhanger ending
- nonsense: how he was apparently not attractive with glasses and then removed the glasses and became irresistible, bodyguards were there until they were needed and then they were gone, CCTV cameras located far away that picked up crystal clear sound, the contest was apparently people standing around doing nothing, a fully grown person can't live by himself?

A show nobody needed....

With WeTV nowadays you have a chance to get a gem or in this case step into a big pile of crap.

I have no idea what the writers/director/producer smoked to put a) so many clichés b) so many couples c) rape into such a short story. Especially c) is repulsive because it does not have any consequences and the character who got raped acts like as nothing ever happend. WTF?

It's a waste to write anything more about this pile of crap. I'm really sorry for the actors who had to act out this shit. But at least it did not drag for twelve episodes 🤣. The money could have been used for other things!

Verdict: Avoid it like the pest, it matched the absolute low like "Flirt Milk", both shows are equally terrible.

Edit; Meanwhile the actors are suing the production company for not paying them the agreed sum which is paltry in comparision to other productions. So now we know where the money went... not into this productions, not to the actors.

A TERRIBLE SERIES, HOW I WISH I AVOIDED IT

Content Warnings:
Rape (Episode 5), torture, physical violence, emotional abuse, bullying (including cyber bullying), vomiting, kidnapping, drugging, non-consensual photography and outing.
It's deeply concerning to see that in 2025, some production companies still choose to glorify sexual assault under the guise of creating “intense” or “viral” scenes in BL dramas. This approach not only damages the integrity of the BL genre but also reinforces harmful narratives that have no place in storytelling—romantic or otherwise.

The scene in question was violent, disturbing, and in no way should be mistaken for romantic tension or emotional depth. I'm fully supportive of morally gray characters when written with care, but there’s a clear line—and this character crossed it. He is written as a rapist, and that should not be sugarcoated or excused.
EPISODE 6 WAS THE SAME AS 5 HOW CAN YOU NOT PUNISH THE CULPRIT

This criticism is directed solely at the writing and production decisions—not the actor, who is simply portraying a role. Still, it’s troubling when creators continue to push such content, likely assuming fans will accept it because it’s “part of the genre.”

If the BL industry wants to grow and be taken seriously, these harmful tropes need to be addressed and left behind. There are better, more respectful ways to tell complex stories without exploiting trauma.

Many characters come across as emotionally flat and poorly developed. The performances feel robotic at times.
The storyline heavily relies on disturbing content such as non-consensual scenes, physical and emotional abuse, kidnapping, and psychological manipulation. There's very little character development or backstory to help the viewer understand the motivations behind such extreme behavior, which leaves the plot feeling disjointed and hard to follow.

This drama is deeply problematic and fails to handle sensitive topics responsibly.

This drama is deeply problematic and fails to handle sensitive topics responsibly. Here are the major issues:
Content & Ethical Concerns
Harmful Romanticization:
* Rape and sexual assault romanticized (Episodes 2, 5, 6) - presented as part of a "romantic" storyline rather than the serious crimes they are
* Sexual abuse normalized - treated as typical relationship drama instead of traumatic experiences
* Consent violations glorified - invasion of privacy and non-consensual exposure of sexuality (Episodes 4, 6)

Inappropriate Content:
* Minors in inappropriate situations - children placed in adult romantic scenarios
* Kidnapping and torture casually included - serious crimes used as mere plot devices
* Cheating downplayed as simple "mistakes" rather than betrayals of trust

Dangerous Messaging:
* No consequences for perpetrators - sends the message that serious crimes go unpunished
* Toxic relationships presented as normal - could influence viewers' understanding of healthy relationships
* Sensitive topics trivialized - reduces the real impact these issues have on survivors

Storytelling Problems:
* Poorly executed plot with weak narrative structure
* Inconsistent character development
* Lack of coherent story direction

This drama fails both as entertainment and as responsible media. The casual treatment of serious crimes like rape, kidnapping, and sexual abuse is not only poor storytelling but potentially harmful to viewers, especially those who have experienced trauma.

If Only We Could Slap People Through The Screen!

This is the type of nonsense they talked about in the bible, cuz bruh, dafug is this? WHY? I thought we decided to be serious this year? The person who green-lit this...whatever the hell this was... needs to be booed in public. Just WHY?

For once, me and my rubber chicken are legit out of words to describe this train wreck. Processed at your own peril.

Just WHY?

is there a part 2 because that ending was abrupt

6 episodes to build up to something, many plot lines, and then it’s over. is there supposed to be a second part to continue the story or did they get bored half way through filming and just give up? there is a literal 🍇-ist and they’re trying to make a romance out of that abuse? I only watched because the actor from Gen Y was in it but it’s really bland. Porsche deserves a better role. the high school plotline also barely had any connection to the rest of the show. the title practically had no connection to any of the plots.

From comfort to real chaos in a second

Warnings: 18+, S**ual Assault (SA), Cheating

I honestly don’t even know where to start. If you triaged this drama—tore it apart and put it back together—you might end up with a mediocre movie at best. There are so many inconsistencies, out-of-character moments, and messy plot points that I felt like I’d slept through half of it… but nope, I was wide awake, maintaining clear eye contact the whole time.

The biggest issue? The beginning. It had the vibe of a light, slightly under-produced but comfy drama—you know what I mean, right? One of those “not perfect but cozy” types. And then it suddenly took a dark turn into SA territory, trying to dress it up as some kind of BDSM power play or whatever. But it’s so poorly handled, so tone-deaf, that it just ends up feeling disturbing and nonsensical. It could easily be traumatic for unprepared viewers.

I get that we shipped Vegas/Pete, but their relationship was a red flag from the start. At least that one had time to develop into its own toxic, pathological thing—we knew what we were getting into. If that was the kind of story Eye Contact was aiming for… well, it was a hit and miss. Mostly a miss.

And as for the cheating...Don’t even get me started. That bizarre moment came out of absolutely nowhere, triggered by absolutely nothing, like nothing at all.

I could keep ranting, but I’ll let you decide for yourself if you’re up for this chaotic ride.

And hey, so I don’t sound too whiny, I actually liked Tora. I think he’s got potential, and his chemistry is on point, no matter who he’s on screen with. He deserves better.

Pretty Faces, Messy Plot

This series is kinda… cringey.
The slow-mo entrances with girls screaming “He’s so handsome!”, I couldn’t take it seriously. It feels like your typical cliché university BL, complete with bar hangouts and canteen scenes we’ve all seen a hundred times.

Then there are the high schoolers. What even is their connection to the main plot? It honestly felt like pure filler. I skipped all their parts without a second thought.

And Chain… suddenly liking Nu out of nowhere? No buildup, no signs, no explanation. He literally started off being into a girl—stole Sun’s girlfriend, and then out of the blue he’s into Nu? Make it make sense.

What I liked:

✅ The enemies-to-lovers trope
✅ The cast is easy on the eyes
✅ The chemistry is surprisingly good—GL included!

What I didn’t like:

✅ Kidnapping, violence, and r*pe content—hard no
✅ Sun's cheating then Nu forgave him easily
✅ Those two kids awkwardly pressing lips
✅ That vomit scene?? Rin’s about to puke and her friend offers her hands instead of pointing to the nearby restroom? Girl, what. That’s not friendship, that’s bad writing 😂
✅One of the leads just cannot act angry convincingly, super cringey
✅Some of the acting is a bit stiff

Did the writer really think throwing in dark themes like kidnapping and r*pe would improve the story? Because it really didn’t.

I'm glad this is just 6 episodes. People warned me this was bad, and now I see why. But hey curiosity got the best of me. No one to blame but myself. 😅

Very unfortunate for the actors (and for me)

I want to preface this by saying that in general I have NO issues with amateur work. Be it amateur acting, directing, so on and so forth, I have an appreciation for the people who put in the effort. I don't need top notch skills to enjoy something. Hell, even mid writing can be good at times.
However, this was NOT it, and it makes me sad for the actors involved. I found myself yearning to see these actors together, but in a completely different story with competent writers and directors. It honestly hurt to see them in such a terrible story, especially Bank (Nu). I'll talk about this more later.

--WRITING
The story initially was fairly unremarkable. Which I don't mind: sometimes having something easy to watch is great. It's your typical Nerdy Type Gets With Popular/Bad Boy Type story and some drama ensues. Nothing to write home about. However, there were bits of the story that I actually liked.

For example, I thought the tension in Sun's friend group was interesting. They introduced Chain who seemed to be the best choice for Nu. Until we learn from Sun's group that he's not as kind as he seems: he made out with Sun's ex girlfriend and also "got with" Jon's ex girlfriend- we will talk about the latter later. Instead of having The One Good Love Interest and The One Bad Love Interest, having two love interests that seem somewhat awful in their own ways is fun to me. Sun is annoying and somewhat aggressive while Chain gets with his friends' partners and even tries to get with Nu when Sun's obviously trying to date him. How will they redeem themselves for our boy Nu? WELL...LET ME TELL YOU...

Initially, it seems like Sun would be the one to have the biggest rivalry with Chain- I mean, it makes sense. Chain also wants to get with Nu. But then they have Jon, one of Sun's friends, who HATES Chain. Waaaay more the Sun does. And this is odd because....why? Who cares? It gets to a point where it doesn't make sense as to why Jon hates him THAT much, especially after we learn that all Chain did was talk with Jon's gf- and Jon witnesses this himself! There was nothing flirty, she just needed someone to vent to, and seeing how borderline insane Jon is, it makes sense she'd go to literally anyone else. At times, this feud overtakes the rivalry between Sun and Jon and it gets annoying and confusing.

Now, I was aware that Chain and Jon's actors were coupled up. So I sat here wondering how in the world were there characters going to link up. The more the show went on, the worse their situation seemed to get. How in the world were they going to get involved romantically??

Well, DUH....with rape and sexual assault of course!

YES you read that right.

This is arguably THE worst thing about the writing. I've been into yaoi/BL for a couple of decades now and this has been trope I've always hated. The "Toxic-To-Rape-To-Romance" pipeline. It used to be so prevalent that I had to stop reading yaoi for a number of years. So imagine my surprise when I got into Thai BLs a couple of years ago and barely ever saw this. And then imagine my surprise when I saw shows like KinnPorsche bring this back. And then it seemed to pop up more afterwards.

This isn't to yuck anyone yum, so to speak. But in my opinion, with the way the story was going, this was so unnecessary. Jon kidnaps him and takes him to a room and forces Chain to live there. He eventually assaults him and then lets him go. The sudden tone shift from Simple Story to Crazed Kidnapper Thriller gave me immense whiplash. It's like they took two seemingly different stories and forced them into the same show in a terrible attempt to cash into renewed interest of toxic yaoi. Even the cinematography and lighting was massively different! Why not just make a separate show for them??

Hell, there's even a whole OTHER story that has not a single thing to do with anything. It has even LESS to do with the bullshit sexual assault couple, and it's the plotline with the high school kids. Now, it's normal for Thai BLs to have different subplots, even one that eventually links up with the main plot in some way. But I have no clue what these kids had to do with anything. I *think* Sun's younger sister was one of the mean girls...? But that connection is so flimsy that it doesn't even matter.

Why was it added? Why did they keep showing them every episode? This show has 3 very different stories forced into 1 story and it's taped together with painter's tape, hopes, and dreams. It's awful. Don't get me wrong, the acting for the main couple in the high school subplot was very solid, especially Gundam's acting. It's very clear he has some acting years under his belt, and without his actor, I would've hated every mention of the high school kids. But there's only so much good acting can do for a story that's shitty in every other way.

Don't even get me started with the main couple's writing. Like I said: okay at first. But it becomes very evident that they needed more and more drama. So things would happen that made no sense. For example, at the end of ep5, Sun makes out with a girl. Why?

Because they needed filler for ep6. There was no reason for him to do that. It made no sense for what they had worked on up until this point in their relationship. Chain is STILL trying to go after Nu for some reason. And Nu is STILL accepting his approach because Drama. It's stupid.

And this leads me to my final point:

--ACTING

I'll say it up front: these actors deserved a way better story. I found myself over and over again wanting to see them in literally anything else. I think the chemistry between all the pairings was pretty solid, some better than most. I'd argue that Jame (Chain) and Folk (Jon) were the best ones, despite the bullshit story they were handed. I hope they're able to team up in something else.

The one actor I felt the most sad for is Bank (Nu). I've been following Bank's career for a few years now. He was stuck with a shitty company named Star Hunter Entertainment, one that treated their actors poorly and were quick to shove them aside with very little to no projects. If I remember correctly, there was even a time when some of them had to get their own acting classes. It was very sad, but I was extremely happy to see them leave the group one by one. So I had high hopes that they'd go back to acting and get projects that work well for them.

Bank's acting has improved, and he's always been one to try something new, so I was excited to see him this role where he plays someone that's pretty opposite to him. He's play tops before which fits his whole vibe, so him playing a soft hearted bottom was interesting. I think he did a pretty decent job, though some moments were a miss. I was hoping this show would be a stepping stone into progressing his career.

But no. I'm afraid that it might've soured some things for him. Maybe even ruin the chance of having a Season 2- YES, the show ended on a cliffhanger. Can you believe it?

It sucked seeing the ratings on here go from around a 7.2 to a 5.9 and more than likely lower once episode 5 dropped (the one with the rape scene).

Like I mentioned in the beginning: I don't mind amateur work. I don't need every BL to have the same quality as KinnPorsche or any of GMMTV's shows. It's okay if the shows are rough around the edges. But amateur does NOT excuse poor writing at all. They did these actors so dirty, and I hope it's not enough to ruin any future project they might've had. I'd like to see these paired actors again in something much better than this.

New and Bank could totally work for a Bratty/Soft Top (New) x Serious Tough Boy Bottom (Bank) trope. Jame and Folk would do wonders in an actual good Enemies-To-Lovers story. I could honestly see them in something like PitBabe and I didn't even care much for that show. Hell, even Kokliang(Gundam) and Gino(Frong) could probably do anything and be good at it.

It's a shame, really.

ITS A BIG NO, if you're planning to watch this, DON'T

It started out good but after the 2nd ep, it went straight down. I wish I had dropped it but I finished it all by using fast track, idk why I did that tbh. The visuals are good and the casting is great but idk about the acting tho. The rape scene in ep 5 really pissed me off. I think they were heavily inspired by Vegaspete here. And tell me why nhu forgived sun that fast like he just straight up cheated on him and didn't even fell that bad about it, he was just feeling bad because nhu was mad at him. He even said "It's my first time making a mistake, and I promise there won't be a second one" like bro what??
Overall this drama is not worth watching at all. It's just straight up trash, idk what the director and the script writers were thinking. The only watchable scenes were the highschool boys story and the gl from ep 4, other that that it's straight up shit.

Eye Contact... But No Plot Clarity

I came for Jame (who I loved in Bound to My Brother’s Fiancé) and yes, he looked amazing as Chain — young, handsome, and full of screen presence 😍✨. But sadly, the writing and direction completely wasted the cast's potential.

Way too many characters for just 6 episodes — this desperately needed at least 12 to even attempt proper development 🧍🧍🧍‍♀️. The tone felt super old-school, like something from 2015, not 2025 📺⏳.

Some scenes were downright inappropriate (the kid kissing scenes were a hard no 🚫), and the plot? All over the place. Nu gets bullied → suddenly bodyguards everywhere? No consequences for the bullies? 🤯 And don’t even get me started on Episode 5 — Chain gets kidnapped and SA by Jorn... then in Ep 6 they kiss and have sex like nothing happened? What?? 😵‍💫

The Sun/Nu storyline was just as messy. Cheating brushed off with a weak excuse? No thanks 🙅‍♂️.

Only saving grace: the tension and chemistry between Chain and Jorn. I do love an enemies-to-lovers dynamic 🔥, but it's not enough to save this trainwreck of a script. I’ve watched over 250+ BLs and always try to stay positive, but this is one of my lowest-rated at 5/10. The actors deserved way better.

📉 5/10
💔 Great cast, terrible writing — I watched it so you don’t have to.

WTF was that?!?

This series needs to come with a trigger warning. especially for the episode that has SA!!!!
I was not impressed with Nu's mother. Bad acting at the charter is a complete psycho. The dad character seemed a little too wimpy and very much a pushover.
I recognized a actor from another series that was WAY BETTER than this one. will probably not watch EC again.
