Love It

I am really enjoying the drama right now. It's really fun and cute but at the same time really annoying because of the female leads mother. She makes me angry because of how she treats female lead but it is a good thing that her siblings love and protect her. I really love both actors. I think it is male leads second time playing as a cold face person but I fell like his acting is a little bit stiff in this one. As for female lead I think she always playing this type of character where she is clever and a little bit of a rebel which is a little repetitive but she does a good job at it so which is why I enjoy watching her. As of right now I am exited for the drama and can't wait for the episodes to come out. So if you haven't started yet, I recommend that you do it. Lol

A masterpiece so far!

‘Love like the Galaxy’ has become my new favorite obsession and I’m predicting my favorite drama of 2022.

Highly recommend for fans of the Historical-Romance genre, and someone looking for a funnier and shorter version of ‘The Story of Minglan’. ‘Love like the Galaxy’ has equal parts romance, family theatrics, and politics, so there’s never a dull moment. It’s definitely a great introductory drama to Chinese Historical Epics as it’s easy to follow and doesn’t require extra brainwork to understand all the nitty-gritty politics and social stuff. It almost feels like a Chinese version of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice in terms of strong distinctive character-types and the simple theme of falling in love in an era where marriage is treated like business.
9/10 – So far so good!

ON THE EDGE OF MY SEAT

10/10 because EVERYTHING about this production is outstanding
Direction, cast, performances, character developments, and story line. Extremely refreshing and lovely to watch.
This is a drama so there are characters you love to hate but are needed to move this story along.
I can't express how well each actor/actress delivered on their characters and tropes. So good.

This takes C-dramas to a NEW level. In my books as a Classic! and is going to be a tough act to follow

Not what I was Expecting, however still great! (updated)

Hi peeps,

Have been waiting anxiously to watch this series. Like many people I haven’t read the novel but the FL:ML is the reason why I’m watching so I’ll give my 2 cents on the series thus far: please be warned of small spoilers ahead.
(Will aim to keep minimum promise)

STORY: I know some may find the slow, but I love it. It develops the characters more and gives the audience a real feel of what’s to come so when it happens OMG effect. In terms of ML:FL interaction, honestly very little so hard to say here. In terms of development of story, I find it amazing how a cold hearted guy that fears no one even royalty is actually quiet similar in mindset as the FL, where she fears no one in her family especially her mother. (Personal note I’m hating on FL mother atm, she’s so one sided and shows no love for her own she hasn’t seen for 15 years, her way of teaching and doing what’s best is absolute shhhiat - subjective view here).

UPDATED: From episode 10 onwards the story changes and gets very in-depth. Main FL uses all her instincts and tact to stay alive whilst ML uses his experience and skills to save FL. (will update more as more eps come out)

ACTING: I couldn’t believe how fast Rosy can speak like omg, also I loved her character, I’m so used to seeing her in other roles where she is the cute and whitty one, not in the series, wow she can act, can be cunning and strategic just to survive. I wasn’t expecting to see this side of her at all. As for ML, his dominance is just amazing, very cool persona and he can act too, wish he had more screen time. However I’m sure that will come later in series. The supporting cast is great too I love how the servants played out and all other remaining family characters it blends in well.

UPDATED: From episode 10, the acting from both ML & FL steps it up hard, however personal view, FL is absolutely amazing, especially seen previous series from FL to see her able to act like really shines out.

MUSIC: I didn’t find that appealing cos I believe there isn’t much music to be had so far so sorry to anyone that likes the music but I find it at odds with this story so far, maybe it will change hopefully.

REWATCH: Until I get more eps, I am not sure as at the moment I’ve seen each episode twice already so I do not know if I would want to rewatch this again, this is one of those series that I would pick out which eps to watch once completed rather than watching it all again.

OVERALL: so far it’s not bad, it’s not great either however cinematography wise and acting is great, story is slow but according to most people that has read the book it is like this to begin with. My take is if you like the FL and ML in other series this would be probs the main reason to continue watching. Otherwise for others I think peeps may wait till the whole 27 eps for season 1 to be finished before continuing on. However I will watch as soon as its released as I’m a fan of the main actors.

Will update more as series goes along hope it’s helped new peeps thinking of watching this series

Thanks all,

Shing

Slowburn romance

First off, this show has 2 parts to it which totals up to 56 episodes.. which you can already tell there will be a lot more things to tell in this show. BUT, in this first part of the show I felt that everything was progressing very slowly which makes it hard for me to be very invested (esp the romance). First part of show revolve mainly on FL's story and for us to understand her character (why she acted like that, her perspective of love and family, etc.) which was very done in my opinion. It's not sloppy and even in her first engagement with Lou Yao - i can tell that she wants to escape her family and a husband that does not restrict what she does. All these don't need words to explain but was already well shown in the first part of it.

However, as mentioned above, the romance between FL and ML is very slow and they have very little scenes together (almost all the scenes the ML appeared is to save FL).. not to mention their lines with each other adds up to less than 10. Even up till the last ep of P1, i still don't think she likes ML/appreciates what he does for her. Nonetheless, both FL and ML have great chemistry together. Also, there are almost no emphasis on ML's character and story too which I felt like could be shown more. Like we spent more almost half of the show seeing FL and her story but doesn't know anything about ML.. this part doesn't make sense to me, also if they were going to show his revenge or whatsoever in the later part shouldn't such development begins from here?

So far the show is still good, cinematic is very pretty and it makes u want to continue watching but maybe because the progress is so slow, the wait is less satisfying when u watch. I do hope to see more of both ML and FL's character growth in the second part. And I also hope they will not rush the ending where the last few episodes end messily.

FINAL VERDICT for P1, not a show to waste ur late nights for but if u are gonna binge watch then best to watch when both parts are out!

Superficial and boring story

It's a dorama with ups and downs, prevailing the lows. At first I wasn't enjoying the dorama at all. It took him a while to get in and get interesting. They focus a lot on dialogues and everyday family matters and that was leaving me impatient. There was even almost an entire episode that they spent just discussing about a ✨table✨, a subject that was totally irrelevant to the story, that classic sausage filling. Only after the first 4 episodes did it start to improve and the story began to engage.

However, back in episode 22 the story began to decay again... with many dialogues and scenes that were not missing and were disposable. Most of the parts were dragged and superficial.

For me, the chemistry and development of the main couple was very failure. Although the protagonist was very intelligent, she was also very childish and naive, which for me did not match with the serious and mature general. In my view, A'Yao would be the perfect match for the protagonist, the two were very similar, they were in similar phases and were much more aligned as a couple.

As the dorama passed, I was increasingly losing the desire to see because of superficial dialogues and entire episodes that added nothing to the story. I think the dorama lost the timing and sinned in the number of episodes (about 20 would be enough). I had to go through several parts to be able to finish! For me, it doesn't reach the feet of, for example, lost you forever, story of kunning palace, till the end of the moon and love between fairy and demon. It's just a series to watch without paying too much attention and to pass the time. I wouldn't recommend it.

The story over all good. There are so many scenes where I can't stop laughing. If I ever want to rewatch it, I will see some of episode . I was hoping their marriage but they didn't. Last some of episode, I got disappointed of their break off. Whatever, they did. They should done their marriage. The most attractive thing is their romance.

The Niao Niao character makes this a great and entertaining watch because she is one of the toughest and smartest drama heroines out there. Although the love story is beautiful, it is watching her stand up for herself and come into her own that makes this drama special. There is a lot of intrigue and fighting and revenge but there is also a lot of humor sprinkled throughout, which makes the 56 episodes race by. Ling Bu Yi makes for a worthy suitor who is just as principled (and stubborn) as she is, but just as emotionally damaged too. Watching the two of them clash and fall in love and clash some more is addictive. There are also some great side characters. One of my favorites was Empress Yue, who deserves an entire drama devoted to her. I also really really liked Niao Niao's interactions with the scholar.

I think this is one of the best, most epic romances around.

PERFECT COMBINATION DRAMA

I can't count how many times I have re-watched this drama since 2022 until now, I failed to move on because for me this is a masterpiece drama!💕

Cheng Shaoshang (played by Zhao Lusi), she is a beautiful, brave, and clever girl. However, despite all her strengths, Shaoshang always felt unlucky and never lived a happy life. She was abandoned by her parents for war since baby and lived with her evil grandmother and aunt so she never felt love.
General Ling Bu Yi (Leo Wu), he is a handsome, powerful, clever, and charismatic man. He lost his family since childhood and was adopted by the emperor and empress. He has many achievements and titles at a very young age.

Two people with all their flaws, who have a sad story and had family problems meet and fall in love with each other. In the middle of their love journey, they encounter many difficulties and challenges, have to experience painful separation, until finally living happily together! (★ ω ★)

Not only Leo Wu and Zhao Lusi, but all characters acting are a chef kiss! I think this drama always be a legend in C-Drama and remembered by many people until many years to come!!

I would give more stars than there are in the galaxy

I realized that I never left a review for LLTG and could not understand why, especially considering it was my first cdrama. So while I'm on my third rewatch, here we go:

This show surpasses all expectations. The quality, the writing, the acting, the characters... All of it is perfect.

Now, I've seen a lot of people say that this show inverts tropes. And that is 100% correct. The leads are petty, vengeful, and selfish. Unlike a lot of leads that are forgiving and kind, here, the leads can be kind, but only to those who are kind to them. If someone doesn't treat them right, they reserve the right to be equally brutal. And I love it. Even with each other they can be uncompromising.

The Emperor , empress, and consort are absolute scene stealers. Another example of how they invert tropes - there are no disputes between the three. The empress is not paranoid or evil, the consort is not ambition or evil, and the emperor is not unqualified or evil. They are just genuinely good, competent rulers who value each other. Absolute scene stealers.

I can't articulate the love I have for this drama. The characters are so well developed. Not only the leads, but the support and side characters as well.

That said, of course there are some cons with the show. There are so many characters and while they all have their own plots, because there are so many, some do just get wrapped up quickly or are just dropped all together. The beginning is very very slow (I think you have to get through a good 10 episodes before things begin to pick up pace), and the end could have been better in my opinion.

But even with those cons, the pros far far far outweigh it. I mean.. it's no contest. This show is perfect and I think it's going to withstand the test of time because I already return to it as one of my go to shows whenever I need a comfort show or an enjoyable watch.

Highly highly recommend.

Romcom and slowburn done right

I honestly don't know where to begin with because I feel like once I do I will not be able to stop haha. I started this plainly out of curiosity because I wanted to watch something that is heavy but not too gritty. I thought I would drop it after 5 episodes but BOY was I surprised! 😅 And impressed in equal measures.
I will not prolong this since other reviewers pretty much said everything there is to be said. It's probably one of the best historical drama and cdrama I have seen easily. It strikes an wonderful balance between romance, family dynamics, revenge, growing up, political intrigue with the help of superb cinematography, script, music, acting. It has its slow moments in a way it doesn't feel draggy or boring.Despite not being a thriller, action, or mystery it manages to keep in your toes and that's probably one of the best aspect of this drama.
Highly recommend to anyone who is still deliberating on watching this and is intimidated by the episode list because honestly you will be sweet odd you won't even realize when did you manage to watch first 25 episodes in 1 week like me!

PROS:
I really liked how their wasn’t so many misunderstandings in this drama. It seemed like every time there was an issue it was resolved pretty quickly which was so nice for a change. My favourite parts were the story with LBY and his family secrets. I enjoyed that way more than the woman fighting constantly. The ML’s have great chemistry and their scenes are adorable. Another plus, was the relationship between the Empress and Consort Yue. I loved how there was no scheming and backstabbing between them, and how their dynamic with the emperor was. [SPOILER]
Also, loved the third prince and was so happy to know him and LBY were actually working together the whole time. I didn’t see that coming, so glad how they played that!
CONS:
The story does drag in some parts; mainly the beginning and ending. Only thing with the leads is they don’t really get together till part 2, so the first 20 something episodes can get annoying with how much focus is put on her first engagement. I didn’t like her first fiancée and found him weak and unnecessary for the plot honestly. I was counting down the episodes just waiting for him to and FML to break up.

OVERALL:
Really enjoyed this drama. Although it was 56 episodes long and it was dragging at some points, the episodes do go by pretty quickly since their only 40 mins long. If you don’t like slow paced romance, then this isn’t for you. I normally hate the slow pace, but honestly this one was bearable so I would definitely recommend giving this drama a try!
