I liked this a lot (I have not watched the original one)

People who have watched the original one before the remake are hating this remake a lot. I know original is original but it does not mean this Korean remake is bad.

The reason people hate remake who have watched the original one is because they are already attached to the original film/series. And when they watch the remake they just cannot get used to the new cast and new angles of the film/series. They just cannot imagine the same story and character with different actor than the ones in the original film/series.

it's like if you watch a remake of Iron Man with different actor after watching the original one which has Robert Downey Jr in it, you will definitely dislike it. But if you happened to have never watched the original Iron Man movie then you might like the remake one.

Now if I watch the original drama, I will definitely like the remake version more than the original one, because I watched the remake one first.

What I am trying to say is, both the original and the remake are very good. Because it's the same drama with different languages and actors.

JUST AMAZING.

I haven't watched the original so, don't come at me for it. I loved every single episode. it was so good planned that sometimes I was more invested on the murder case, or thinking how will they explain the "time travel" and how they'll fix it that I had no time to get bored.
the romance was just good, subtle but also strong. it didn't need many kiss scenes, or touching scenes for you to understand that the love was there, you could just feel it in the way the stared at each other and that's on the great cast. I loved the acting and also the ost I LOVED EVERYTHING it's just sooooo good. wish I could turn back time and watch it again for the first time. <3

I have not watched the original

but I do want to now that I've seen this one! Ive seen people saying that the original was even more emotional and better in general, but I've gotta say this one IS GOOD! I personally loved it and am glad I took a chance on it. it's also joined a (now 3 member) club of shows that kept me up at night, this one being a first in that it wasn't the final episode that threw me out of my mind, and the second Korean drama on the list. I also appreciated how everything in the show grew on me as it went on. even if I already cared about a character, each episode made me care more (in-gyu especially 😭) and the songs too! I wasn't a huge fan of them at first, I never disliked them but just eh whatever but each time they played them, instead of getting sick of hearing it, I was grinning ear to ear eager to hear it again! the only thing I wish, was for this to have been weekly updates, cause I like the anticipation of waiting for a new episode but that's okay 🤗

Amazing performances

Amazing show. Standout performances from all of the actors, but JYB was in a league of her own. She was the drawing card for me and did not disappoint. She is such a joy to watch on screen. As others have noted, her acting in the last two episodes was just phenomenal. I thought KH and AHS did a great job too, and managed to hold their own across from JYB. That scene between JYB and KH in the last episode still gives me goosebumps.

Some people have complained that AHS did not play his two roles distinctly enough. I recently watched an interview where he said it was a deliberate decision to play them the same as they are essentially the same person. I think this was the right choice for this show and made the storyline easier to understand (even if it took away some of the big reveal).

I am very surprised by the vitriol in the reviews and comments. It makes me wonder if we watched the same show? The major complaints seem to be that this remake does not live up to the original and the storyline was confusing. It is fine to prefer the original, but as a standalone piece this show was objectively good. If anything, the comparison should elevate the original. It is unfair to denigrate this show just because it is not a carbon copy of the original.

In relation to the storyline, this is a show where every detail matters. As someone else said, you need to pay attention to every scene. The storyline, especially the time travel logic, is intricate but is well planned out. If you pay attention, the pieces come together in a very satisfying manner. It is the type of show that gets better with a second (or third or fourth) rewatch as you pick up on details that you missed the first time. To me, the beauty of this show is that it is intelligent without being convoluted. Props to the entire production team for pulling it off.

I hope people can watch this show and form their own opinion. Fans of the original should be able to appreciate the respect and care they showed the original work. First time viewers who have the patience will be rewarded with a beautiful story that is excellently executed. Like others, I wish there was more of an epilogue, but how it ended was kind of perfect too.

A 1998 song played in 2023 to most of our liking.

Having watched this completely , i have to say that this has impressed me and enjoyed it.
Episode 11 had me confused a while , i just had to convince myself that i understood that somehow.

Female Lead whom i did not like it in Vincenzo and dropped that drama near the end.
But this one she completely outshined with her acting range. OMG , the way she switched her acting to portray two different characters are amazing , i am actually convinced that i am literally watching two different person with same face performed those roles. That how good her acting was.

Its a great casting all around, A unique time travel theme , it really demanded the brain to be working too much to comprehend what's was going on with the timelines and loops at certain times.

My favorite healing kdrama

The story might feel a bit confusing but all the pieces fall into place when you're almost finishing this up. I finished this kdrama in 2 days it was so good. I didn't want it to end at all definitely recommend you will cry a lot, laugh, and get mad too. I experienced so many emotions when I was watching this. Usually I don't watch kdramas again only if it's really good. And this is definitely rewatch worthy.

An amazing rollercoaster ride!

Even though I watched the original a couple months earlier, I could still enjoy and cry with A Time Called You just like an individual project.
You have to watch with an open heart and try to avoid the comparisons because it will affect your experience. Besides, each actor put their own impressions and thoughts into their characters. I think the idea here was never fully copy the original, but bring the essence of it, and they did that well.

Yeon-been was excellent portraying the differences between Jun-hee and Min-ju, and Hyo-seop was able to convey Si-Heon's charisma and pain.
I don't get why people got so critical about how he portraid old Si-Heon, because I could understand that after all he had to go through, alone, he was just tired and stopped caring about his appereance, since he was so invested in fixing what happened.
And thats okay, I think both versions of the character, original and remake, are valid.

About the time lines, you need to be patient and pay close attention to details, because by the end it will make sense.

I think the one thing that bothered me a little was that they cutted out some of the relationship's delevopment between the characters. It was sentimental, but in a more straight way.

I really liked some changes the writer made like Yeon Jun's story (it was less darker than the OG and helped me to understand what actually happened with the character), and the OST also turned out to be one of my favorites. I wasn't expecting it. I've been listening the songs since the release. I just wished Netflix had released the acoustic version of NewJeans' Beautiful Restriction on streaming, because I LOVED it ever since I heard in the promotional trailers.

For those who have never seen the original, A Time Called You will be quite a journey and will hold you in your seat while the story unfolds.
I totally recommend you to give it a try and just enjoy the ride. I've watched three times already, so it's worth it

Extraordianry game with time. Nothing and no one is the same.

My idea about this series: After the first episode, I thought it would be a pleasant relaxing series where we have footage from the present when something happened and we go back to the past and the story tells us what and why happened in the past and also in the present... Reality: I was more and more out of it with each subsequent episode, I was yelled at sometimes in the 6th episode, totally psycho... who is who and at what time it happened, because the times didn't fit at all, neither the characters nor the names. From a pleasant relaxing time, it changed into a brutal game with time, storylines, and characters. I devoured this series in about two days. Thank you for releasing it into the world with all the parts at once. If it were done gradually, I would probably snap or stop watching it. The casting was 100% successful. Acting skills were at the highest level. This was the Ahn Hyo Seop I had been waiting for for a very long time. Not the artificial, conceited, most stylish one like in Business Proposal, nor such a bunny as in Abyss, or in 30 but 17. He suited me better in Lovers of the Red Sky but here in A time called you, he was perfect here from the first moment to the last. I enjoyed every scene with him. Also, Kang Hoon surprised me even more after The Red Sleeve. The boys did a great job playing both student and adult roles. And Jeon Yeo Bin was also awesome. How action-packed and funny she was in Vincenzo, here she was incredibly emotional and cared about every detail of her characters. Anyone who has seen Memories of Alhambra will surely recognize Min Jin-Woong, who he played as Hyun Bin's assistant and good friend. In this series, however, he got a completely different character, actually several characters...each different, but refined. I recommend watching this series when you have enough time to watch it continuously. I had to rewatch a few things again to better understand the storyline.

Amazing!

I loved it <3 and enjoyed it a lot!

amazing when you haven’t seen the original

having not seen the original, i was able to appreciate this drama on its own and i found it incredible. in fact i HAVE to watch the original now because i was in disbelief when i heard it’s better than this already is. i think it’s inevitable to compare two versions of something, but if you haven’t seen the original don’t let the negative reviews steer you away because this was really good too.

it also makes me sad that some people are dismissing it because of its complexity. time travel plots should be confusing, if they’re not, then they’re not doing it right. another great example is donnie darko. i don’t like a lot of time travel stories because they fail to consider how one small thing would change the whole future, but they understood the concept really well with this one and used it to create one of the most clever storylines i’ve ever seen. i guess not everyone will understand it, admittedly there were multiple moments where i had to pause and wrap my head around what was going on, but in the end everything adds up so perfectly it had me wondering how on earth people come up with stuff like this

Just watch it

First of all, I watched it without knowing that this was a re-do version of another story. If you haven't watched the other version, then, just watch this and don't read other negative comments!
That being said: I just loved it.
It was perfect.
It kept hanging over and over again.
I cried several times which I barely do (compared to my friends).
I loved the way the series managed the time travel, it gave me DARK vibes (german series from Netflix as well). I understand that some people might think it was confusing, but to be honest it was pretty simple to understand if you're paying attention.
The cast was perfect as well.
The music was perfect.
Just watch it.

A good remake and excellent work on it's own

I watched the original before the remake out bcs I wanted to know what kind of drama my fav actress participated in. Ngl the OG is a masterpiece and I really am happy bcs Jeon Yeobeen got the role because she is indeed a good fit.

Without being biased, this remake is a good remake because they stick to the main plot. Isn't it the most important point for a remake? Ofc it doesn't give you the exact same vibe like the OG ver because it's a korean remake. They had to adjust to their culture and change some small details and that's what makes it also interesting. Why would you watch an exact copy of OG? I honestly don't understand why people want this remake to be 100% same as the OG. The story also clearer and easier to digest rather than OG because they explain some points (which OG didn't) at cost of cutting some scenes I'd love to see (eg; when the trio gave lesson to the iljins who bullied FL's lil bro)

The acting department is also superb. Jeon Yeobeen ate and left no crumbs. She makes us easily differentiate Minju, Junhee, and Minju when she pretended to be Junhee not only by the outer appearance. The look in their eyes, the way they talk, their voice, the way they walk. Even when Minju pretended to be Junhee, her voice is also different (½ minju ½ junhee). This kind of role is really Jeon Yeobeen's forte. Minju, Junhee in Minju body, Junhee in her 20s, Junhee in her 30s, and Minju when she copied Junhee. She played 5 roles with distinct characteristics and gave justice to each of them. The emotions are just right and hit the spot. Maybe if I wasn't her fans I would think that Minju and Junhee are played by two different actresses.

For Ahn Hyoseop, I really think he has done an excellent job. To portray a character slightly different than the OG can't be counted as a bad acting. He understood his character well. His eyes were so impressive in every emotional scene. His eyes can immediately make you more immersed in their story and feel their emotions. Nam Siheon being more mature than LZW is not a sin. And for his style in 40s, I also found it funny at first because I expected him to look dandy. But when I make peace with this, I'm fully understand why he chose to go with this look. It's because he wanted to show how much pain Siheon went through. Siheon lost his precious best friend and had to wait for 20 years to meet Junhee again. It's understandable that he didn't have any energy left to dress up because he spent most of his energy and time to save his loved ones.

IMHO, Kang Hoon's Jung Ingyu is sweeter than the OG. He did a good job. He doesn't have many dialogues, but he delivered every emotion well. I got goosebumps when Ingyu fulfilled Minju's last wish. (You know what I mean, right?)

The three main leads didn't overpower each other when they were together. A perfect balance. I want to see them more..

The OSTs are also good and fit each scene. Seo Ji Won - Gather my tears is a good choice for time slip song. It does give you a nostalgic feeling. My personal fav is Isaac Hong - Be With You and Kim Minseok Melomance - Never Ending Story.

If you are searching for ATCY reviews before deciding to watch it or not, please give them a chance. I promise it's a good remake and also an excellent on its own. If you feel confused, do not hesitate to approach me on Twitter at @intoyourtime. I will gladly explain. Thank you 🩷
